And people wonder why us British 40somethings need a rest nowadays. We are still knackered from the 90s!
So true 🤣🤣
and why we all have arthritis in our knees from raving and dancing allll night 😂😂😂
....I’ve still got a stitch!
You're not wrong buddy 😂😂👍👍
And still crying myself to sleep wanting to be back there 😂
When I listen to The Prodigy so does the rest of my street 🤟🏽
Everyone on the motorway
Omg, this comment made my day!!! I gotta get this tattooed or shit...
You want suggestions? From a Brit who grew up with all this "Madchester" stuff you seem to be tunneling.....
Stone Roses - She Bangs The Drum & Elephant Stone.
Mondays- try Kinky Afro or Hallelujah (Paul Oakenfeld mix - DJs started being influential with raw material around the early 90's)
The Only One - The Charlatons - this song is banging.
Pulp, The Verve, Placebo (I think you'll like Nancy Boy), Suede and of course Blur - Song 2 - The Simpsons you'll get it in a second.
Best comment of the month 😂
When i listen to prodigy, my totally deaf nan puts her ear plugs in
Still the loudest concert I have ever been to. R.I.P. Keith, we miss you.
And mudiest!
@@Chris1LFC lol my m8 lost 2 toe nails 🤣
Used to see Keith at the Isle of Man TT. Just a great bloke.
I think the volume at one of their concerts battered my body more than the tornado mosh pit I got pulled into 🤣🤣🤣
For me, It was the best gig ever!
The prodigy are pioneers of U.K. dance music. Taking it from the underground scene (illegal raves) back in the late 80s early 90s. Forever evolving their sound and never afraid to experiment
Brilliant. When he wasn't performing keith flint was such a humble sweet bloke, very friendly an a down to earth person. Rip keith. Great vid too 👍
The Prodigy Experience album is one of my favourites of the 90s. Charly, Out of Space and Everybody in the Place are classics.
Definitely their best album by far
He was super kind in person, his stage persona radiates the opposite
Definitely and well said✌️✌️🍻
How does he radiate unkindness onstage?? What.
@@CaptainAMAZINGGG He put forward the unsettling dangerous vibe. That is what is meant. However he was a total sweetie in reality.
Underworld born slippy ✌❤
Yes!!!!
Good choice.. 👍
No, rez or cowgirl
Absolute must boys
Fuck yes!
When I saw them live, the base of this song was so loud in Newcastle, that the resonance from it was actually stopping you breathing. So when the base was cut and "Breathe with me!!" was shouted, people around me were actually gasping. Good times.
Keith was really just the dancer (he only started singing on firestarter which was on the 3rd album) all of the music is made by Liam Howlett (and always has been) Liam is the prodigy
Keith was there mostly to get the crowd going at live gigs. he and Liam were friends since they were teens
the band is named after one of Liams 1st Synthesizers (a Moog prodigy)
I know you guys like Oasis so here's a fun fact Liam Howlett was Liam Gallaghers brother in law (both of them married one of the Appleton sisters from the band all saints Liam G was married to Nicole, Liam H is married to Natalie) Liam G has split with nicole now tho
another random Paul fox from the ruts was liams guitar tutor lol
I can one up this, Howlett once said they all used to have nights in when the four of them would get drunk and cover ABBA songs and even called themselves LNNL (Liam Nicole Natalie Liam)
One of my fav stories about Keith comes from James blunt. He said at an awards show years ago Noel Gallagher, Damon Albarn, and Paul weller had all been talking shit about James but Keith came up and gave him a hug and said he was thrilled at James success. Shows what a true gentleman Keith was. RIP Keith. The world def hasn’t been the same without you
I've never heard a bad word about Keith.
If you are looking for intensity, you have to check out "Weak" by Skunk Anansie. The lead singer (Skin) has an insane vocal range and such a powerful voice to deliver it
I absolutely agree
First time I have seen skunk mentioned
I think she is one of the greatest vocalist
Thirded! Hedonism is another Skunk Anansie banger
Was at this gig - and Underworld a year later, the other great Dance act of the 90's. Great times, great memories. RIP Keith Flint.
The Prodigy - Out of Space - Poison - Voodoo People - Charly - Spitfire - Jericho - Everybody in the Place - No Good
And more much much more 🤟🏻
Have a look at Underworld - Born Slippy, I will never get tired of hearing that.
The BBC broadcast the entire Glastonbury concert all day and all night for 3 day online and on TV. Its on both platforms to UK residents. Its great and I watched this at home drunk as.
if you want to capture a glimpse of what its like at a gig "the day is my enemy live in russia" super high quality and really captures it
Nice one just watched it. That's pretty legit except you can't smell it 🤣
Yes!! Totally agreed
Damn, I had forgot just what a Prodigy gig was like. As you say, this really captures it. Thank you for sharing it.
Prodigy blew my face off when I was a teenager, couldn’t work out if it was rock music, drum and bass or just chaotic noise!! You should check out Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin Beats
Chemical Brothers played their full set either immediately before or after Prodigy at Glastonbury in 1997. Can't remember which way round it was as I was absolutely flying off my tits off quite a few illegal substances lol.
Seen them live many times and they know how to get a crowd dancing. RIP Keith.
They're so brilliant live, Breathe is my favourite, the studio version is fantastic but this is phenomenal.
The prodigy is actually 1 guy liam Howlett the d.j. it started off as Keith and a guy called Leroy as dancers. The other guy on stage was the m.c. I think after hearing firestarter Keith wrote some lyrics. Howlet and gallagher married 2 twins from a girl band i think oasis are in there newer stuff well before Keith died.
got so high on Es & trips at that gig was still dancing six hours after they got off stage amazing live band
watching the prodigy live is an endurance test they blow the fuckin roof off everytime
Took me over 20 years to finally see them live, but I can say I've seen them.
I saw The Prodigy supporting Oasis at Knebworth and they almost blew Oasis away. It just shows the confidence of Oasis at the time to have a band this good as a support act.
Keith Flint was heavily involved in motorcycle racing. Raced himself and even set up his own team.
when i seen them live i could feel all my organs vibrating with their low frequency bass lines and beats , the sound was immense
Met Keith a few times when he was a young fella as one of his relations was a good mate of mine. Glad he went on to do what he did. RIP old mate.
I used to live less than a quarter mile from Keith Flint (RIP) when he lived in Braintree. I would quite often see him in town. He was the gentlest soul you could possibly imagine and nothing like his stage persona. If you want to do another - try Spitfire.
Saw them headline V festival in 1997 ..... with Beck + Foo Fighters + Placebo etc further down the bill ...... There should have been cameras on the crowd - that's where a lot of the action is ..... it was dark, it was heavy - as a metalhead Prodigy was rock n roll ..... and Keith was a sweetheart.
I was there too brother ! Could ya'aaĺ stop throwing shit at Beck 😂
One of the ORIGINAL rave dancers, made me proud to follow in his footsteps. RIP Keith, we all miss you so much. But your artistry will live on forever. We are all eternally blessed by your presence and influence
The music video won the 1997 MTV Video Music Award for Viewer's Choice and International Viewer's Choice Award for MTV Europe. The video was also the band's final video to feature dancer Leeroy Thornhill.
I went to see the Prodigy for my surprise 40th Birthday, at one of the coolest venues in the U. K. The Gmex! My mates told me we were going on the piss (For a drink/Beer) for my 40th and they'd got me a ticket for the Prodigy.... It was mental!! I loved it. Public enemy were supporting them too, so it was a top night. Rest in peace Keith Flint 😔 I were into the Prodigy during the rave scene in the UK (When Exctacsy hit the clubs in the warehouses and old airport hangers at illegal 'Acid House' parties in the UK). The gmex is like a massive tunnel, that they used to use for a train station /Or storing trains. You're fucked if you don't wanna dance cause the crowd moves you, if you like it or not. 😁 I've been watching your reactions to UK music and you kind of get it, where some U. S. Citizens don't.... (That's not having a go and your fellow country men). I live in a town called Burnley, Lancashire which is kind of in the middle of Manchester and Liverpool..... We've produced some of the best bands in the world. If you ever need anymore suggestions hit me up. I'm not totally biased about Northern English Bands.... Try reacting to 'The Libertines' (Start with one of their most commercial songs, before you enter the rabbit hole like "Don't look back into the sun" or "Can't stand me now". Most of the Artic Monkeys albums too... (I wasn't as keen on their last one). There's some great Scottish bands and Welsh bands too... Like 'Glasvegas' and 'the Fratellis' and 'The Manic Street Preachers'. I don't know how old you lads are.... I'm 45 and I love watching our cousins from over the pond getting and loving the music from my era.... The 90s The 00's and the 10's.... In fact there's still good bands about today that make great music. You just have to sift through all the shit first.... I'll stop boring you now haha... Peace and Respect (Unless you're a Blackburn fan) From Burnley, Lancashire, UK. 👍🇬🇧😎
Start where the Prodigy began..."Out of Space" or "Start the dance ( you're no good for me)".. Followed by The Shamen, "Ebeneezer Good", cheers lads, keep it up. ta
AH, I LOOOOVE THE PRODIGY. Makes me feel young again when I listen to them. They started out as a much more happy rave group and went much darker. I love all of their incarnations.
Keith also owned a Motorcycle Racing Team. Ian Hutchinson won 4 Supersport (600cc) TT wins (on the Isle of Man) in 2 years on Keith's bike.
He may have been one of THE great, superstar frontmen but was an absolutely lovely, down to Earth bloke and much loved around the Race Paddocks. RIP Keith
Phoenix festival 1996 is a must watch from start to finish
Voodoo people & Funky shit.
First the Stones in the 60s then pistols 70s and 20 years later the Prodigy
Love the Prodigy. If you are after Rave/dance music try Altern-8 Used to love them back in the day
Top one, nice one, get sorted 👊
Me again!!!! Great band RIP Keith Flint. Saw them in 2006 or 7 at Creamfields (our biggest dance festival) they were by far the best of the night, great back catalogue. Either year, whichever it wasn't, The Chemical Brothers were just as impressive and again the chemical bros have a great back catalogue. i've mentioned before Noel G featuring on Let Forever be, he is also on chemical brothers song 'setting sun' but the prodigy's 'omen' is fantastic and the chemical brothers song 'hey girl, hey boy' and 'do it again' galvanizel and 'the test' feat Richard ashcroft the lead singer of The Verve. Hope you like me reccommending?
I was at Oasis at Knebworth. The Prodigy played, Maximum Reality did in a full suit of Armour
"DID THEY DO THIS THE WHOLE SHOW???!" YES THEY DID!!! - They took a decade off my life - luv you guys welcome to the 90's to 2000's UK - We weren't normal x
I'm incredibly glad I didn't sell my ticket and did go and see them in 2018. I might have been 7 months pregnant and tired but it soon woke me up 🤣
I was there ‘97 Glastonbury so muddy that year but a great time
The Saturday evening line up Beck - Ocean Colour Scene - Primal Scream
Prodigy were the Sunday headline and closing band
Alway great live
RIP Keith........💔
RIP Keith Flint... We miss you❤️❤️
I have seen the Pistols, was at the last ever Ramones gig, seen the Artic Monkeys in a tiny room, ACDC, PJ Harvey for Dry, The Fall on multiple occassions, Joe Strummer busking on a street....and yet the Prodigy was the most fun I ever had at a gig...dancing, lost in the driving beats..R,I,P Keith
Yes, definitely need to react to more of their live stuff, especially the ones that they do at rock events, despite the music being the opposite, they get the crowd absolutely jamming!
The fusion of punk and dance. Electronic pogo - and yes, they keep this tempo up.
Interesting fact keith was an estate agent you call them realtor.
Saw them perform in my city in 2018. So glad i did because little did we know that was Keith's last tour before he died.
Had the absolute pleasure of seeing Prodigy on T-In The park. I wasn't a fan but it was honestly one of the best gigs I have been to. They were mind-blowingly amazing.
I was stunned by how good they were. I shall never forget it.
Early to late 90s UK rave... nothing better ,👍♥️
Leftfield - Phat Planet. Was used in one of the best commercials on British TV ever for Guinness, even if you don't do a video check out the Guinness Surfer Ad from the late 90's.
Seen Prodigy live twice!! legends of Rave!!! As ya do!!
Try :- out of space & voodoo People. their first two albums are undoubtedly their best Albums:-Prodigy the experience, music for a jilted generation
later lives will have a guitarist and drummer too.. as well as Liam on samples and synths. Seen them live twice. Insane!
The "Devil Cat" is thanks to the track "Charly" which features samples from a series of UK safety PSAs for kids from the 1970s where a boy is saved from dangerous situations by his cat's timely intervention & the boy translates all his cat's expositionary meowing for the audience with "Charly says...", hence the devil cat!
I was there. 17 years old. Caked in mud and off my face. They had power cut beforehand and we were kept waiting for a while. Was all worth it. One of the best experiences.
This used to be one of my favourite cycling in London traffic songs! Cycling into central London in rush hour, arriving at work fully pumped up....LOVE IT!!!
Music for the jilted generation was one of my first albums i played it to the death and still love it today i used to do coppies in school for my mates i spreaded the prodigy virus infected everyone with the prodigy soooo cool.
Saw them live twice in 1996, absolutely amazing. They cranked the bass right up
When they used to play Diesel Power or Minefields with the base cranked up, that would rattle your insides
Prodigy - Liam Howlett, Leroy Thornhill, Keith (MAXIM) Palmer and Keith Flint. Liam Howlett and Liam Gallagher were both married to All Saints members (female band) sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton.
Seen them live twice, nothing compares to the energy that Liam and the band produces, it's like being assaulted with sound... fucking awesome
R.I.P Keith... fucking legend 🤘
Omg I wish I could still jump up and down like a lunatic 😂😂 !!!!
Keith was a lovely guy RIP 💥♥️
That's how to do it live! RIP Keith, give 'em hell in heaven 🙏
In reality, Keith Flint was a quiet, kind man, always generous & welcoming to fans & humble amongst his peers. He simply loved dance music & being with other people. I think he was the rave scene personified.
He wasn't the creator of the music. The Prodigy was really Liam Howlett, the guy on keyboards who write the songs. Keith was originally a dancer for 6 years before he got involved singing, & Maxim did vocals & beatboxing.
Best Band ever!!! Sick tunes, sick atmosphere. Never hear anything like these guy ever again!!!
Saw them that summer in a massive tent on Glasgow Green in Scotland. Placebo in support. Awesome gig.
Dudes, react to prodigy live at Rock AM Ring Germany ‘09. Dance act that had the metal crowd in the palm of their hand!
Specifically the track ‘Their Law’ watch how many people jumping, it’s nuts!
Out of Space is my favourite tune. Has a massive sample of the Lee Scratch Perry produced Max Romeo "Chase the Devil"
. Around this time I was listening to the likes of Rocky & Diesel, Farley & Heller, Sabres of Paradise, loads of stuff out of Glasgow from 23rd Precinct Records as well as the likes of Left field and the Chemical Brothers. Great times indeed! There is so much exploration for you guys.
Need to go back for more Stone Roses and Primal Scream as well!
you’ve GOT to watch the prodigy - Firestarter. An absolute classic !
I was at this, thanks for the memories! What a time to be young.
The chemical brothers at Glastonbury is worth watching
Best of British. Went to the same school as Keith. Bozwells in Springfield, Essex in the late 70's. Later in the early 90's we played 2 gigs with them in Kent!
I was there. It was so load and non stop. I'm 43 and still hanging from partying so hard in 90's. Please check out their gig from the Phoenix festival I think it was 96. It was baking hot and the middle of the day and The Prodigy came on and killed it. 'No Good Start the Dance' from that gig is insane.
I work backstage at Glastonbury, really missing this event due to this stupid pandemic. RIP Keith Flint.
seen the prodigy back in my raves days and my good god they were fuckin mint
First band to mix rock fans n dance fans together. Respect
You gotta remember that Keith started with the Prodge as simply a hype man and dancer, so yeah, seeing him and Maxim fronting like that was a blast. Plus you can actually dance around so much more when you're not weighed down with instruments
Liam howlett who’s in prodigy used to be Liam Gallagher’s brother in law too.. little fact there lol
7k subs WOW well done chaps
I'm so glad a saw them in concert years ago. The videos dont do it justice, it was epic ❤
I WAS THERE! unfortunately it was so muddy that weekend it was virtually impossible to go anywhere ( Radiohead also played as well ( which was arguably the best gig of the 90s according to Q Magazine )) but 2 years before that in 95 they also played ( it was one of the hottest weekends of that year iirc ) and it's still the best gig I've ever been to. I remember they were on at the same time as Oasis, however a lot of people that chose to hear them expressed how disappointed they were after hearing how good The Prodigy were
There is footage available but it's pretty grainy unfortunately
Check out The Prodigy - Out of Space LIVE
Also The Prodigy is more than just Keith Flint (RIP) they consist of Liam Howlett (keyboards) Maxim Reality (the guy in the kilt), Keith and former member Leeroy Thornhill, there was another member too I think but his name escapes me atm..
You know how sometimes songs have that big crescendo at the end where the band goes all out? A Prodigy concert is like that, only every song is a crescendo. You guys should react to their Phoenix '96 concert, so much sustained intensity.
Saw the Prodigy at Brixton Academy in London…Keith came on bouncing around and throw up on stage. Got up and carried on bouncing around for the rest of the gig….he was a quiet man in real life. R.I.P Keith Flint
Glastonbury 97 had some amazing performances, including Radiohead's best ever set but it was plagued by heavy rain and deep mud and had a number of technical issues. The floodlights for the main stage didn't work, which is why you can't see the audience. If you want to see the Prodigy in full flow with an audience reaction to match, check out their set at the Phoenix festival in 96. The mad energy when No Good (Start the Dance) comes on is incredible.
I've just watched it at phoenix 96. amazing atmosphere. I seen them in 94 at a place that held 450 people. it's one of the only concerts I can remember from start to finish it was that good. best bands I've ever seen.
I've been to biker do's and the floor is filled when these come on!
He was also a pretty good motorcycle racer too!
Grew up with Prodigy. Firestarter Voodoo People they have so many good tunes. I always got the Johnny Rotten vibe from him too tbh - true legends
I've heard them twice, greatest moments of my life.
I saw them the same year , they were amazing high energy at their peak after the release of their finest album . I loved them since I first heard them in 1990 and was gutted when Keith took his own life , rest with God forever , your energy will live on . God bless Keith
Just to tie it in with Oasis 'rabbit hole', Liam Gallagher and Liam Howlett from the Prodigy were brothers in law. They married the sisters from the group All Saints.
Also, there was a Prodigy remix of the Oasis song 'Falling Down'.
Got all their stuff on vinyl. New and old I love it all.
best gig I attended having worked the previous gig and unable to be in the crowd but happily settled for being the barman backstage. Epic bunch of lads Liam the genius, Keith the Legend, max the man
i worked on a camera crane at a oasis gig at knebworth and prodigy supported them legend concert i think it was at least 120.000 people great memories 96
Saw them live. Would have killed to see them live again.
This was my first Glastonbury..The Prodigy were awesome
I was there! Left their set early cos I was alone and got panicked. Can’t even remember why, now!
