Hi Richard , well done on a compact and comprehensive coverage of the thermlight 225 R, I've had mine since the end of September. Its so easy to use I have put it on my airguns, my 17 HMR and my .22 LR. I have mounted it on an eaglevision adjustable mount and it holds zero perfectly between platforms. Definitely a game-changer for me at a good price . I look forward to the other 2 coming out soon, they are meant to be improving the thermal sensor and objective lens. Keep up the good work , all the best Steve
Totally agree for airgun pest control its by far the best on the market, there's another 2 coming out with better thermal sensors, depending on price they'll either be amazing or a bit disappointing, they are no where near as good as hik etc if the price starts to match there's,however for ease of use and seamless flicking between thermal and day night mode they are hard to beat, the rangefinder and ballistic calculator are also very accurate with correct data put in,surprisingly this has turned out to be a massive bonus when ratting where I can be shooting 6 yards with one shot and 35 plus with the next, maximum kill was at 67 yards and the guided aim point was spot on
@TheNightVisionShow Yep there are 2 models above this one now, but I can't convince myself to spend double the amount of this unit for a supposed upgrade😩 I'm fine with this one 😂👍
Howdy! I have had mine for about three weeks. it is my first digital/night/thermal of any kind. I genuinely think I spent wisely. Though I am sure there are more intense units for individual options, but none that are multifunction all in a 7-inch unit. I'm having a blast with it.
I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, been amazing so far. I'd love 1 or 2 more, but I opted to grab the Tier-One quick detach mount. It holds zero perfect between firearms, just remember to switch your zero profile 😂
I notice it comes with a 20moa mount, normally they are used for long range, I would be using it on a sub 12 air rifle, would I need to swap for a 0moa mount, to zero for close range?
I have found that using it on 12 ft/lbs rifles is fine, unless the rifle has a 20 MOA scope rail. As the ThermNight mount also has 20 MOA built in (so 40 MOA or 0.6 degree) you can run out of adjustment. Easily sorted though by shimming the rear of the scope - I use a couple of squares cut from a coke can between the rearmost two holes between the mount and the scope. An adjustable mount would work too, but costs more. Hope that helps Stu.
Needs a wired remote to activate range finder. This would make it more easy to operate vs hitting the button especially the 2nd time for ballistic calculator
@brucemcpherson8832 the auto range finder is nice because you press the button once and it auto scans all the time. Dont have to worry about it. Its the second press for ballistic calculator that would benefit from a remote near your hand holding the rifle/crossbow. If Im holding and looking at am animal through the scope. Dont want to cause movement by reaching over and hitting the range button 2nd time for ballistic calculator.
@@ychongy Fair point but other than the ATN X Sight 5, all the scopes with LRFs and ballistic calculators I've tested require the LRF button to be pressed twice. On the X Sight 5 a single press of the LRF button does produce a holdover mark but that typically doesn't happen until 7 seconds after the LRF button is pressed - meaning that, in many cases, the potential quarry has disappeared!!!
Actually a bloke with a brain. Unlike most by not doing his best to alienate the world against what has to be done. It’s bad enough that we have to kill wildlife but bragging and gloating about it is going to end badly for those of us sensible professional wildlife managers. Be warned.
Considering you state you’ve used most of the NV gear out there and you recon this is the top of the game, funny how you haven’t mentioned the thermal channel ghosting at 15mins thats obvious for everyone to see. Just more advertising speil by a stooge.
The ghosting you refer to is down to the recording and my editing skills. There's no issue when using the scope real time. Have you used a ThermNight yet? Give it a try and see what I mean. And please let me know if you want to meet up and have a chat at the BSS.
Thats strange, a new one on me, normally the ghosting is apparent when looking through thermal equipment, hence having the option of manual calibration to remove it, theres a whole load of thermals out there that don’t have recording capabilities. If you are saying its somehow only on the recording and not in the viewfinder then we will have to take your word for it.
@@charnwoodvermincontrol.8855 The thermal imaging feature is fine. Personally I tend to use it mainly for spotting when trying to locate a shot. I've not experienced any issues with ghosting. I stand by it being the best NV scope I've used to date (that's not to say the others are rubbish!)
@@RichardSaunders-w9bthe best NV you’ve used, even though it uses a smaller lens for the digital channel than the Zulus resulting in poorer image quality? Ive heard enough, time to move on i think.
@@charnwoodvermincontrol.8855 Yes, the Zulus is excellent. I have both a Zulus and ThermNight so I can express an informed opinion. If you think something else is better then good for you (have you used a ThermNight?). I'm really not sure why we're even having this conversation. All I said was that the ThermNight is the best NV I've used. It's an opinion and worth no more than yours or anyone else's. I didn't mean to imply its better than anything you've ever used. How could I do that?
I have ordered my 5 x 20 LRF without thermal, my thermal camera for business use would not be good enough for targeting even though my Flir is top of the range with multi spectral dynamic imaging It is slow and auto calibrates every minute or so, this put me off from the TNC225R plus the grainy images I have seen, the other issue with thermal is the battery drain. I am looking forward though to my 5 x 20 LRF as it ticks all the boxes.

good to hear
Got one on a .308 bolt action and it withstands the recoil no problem at all.
The best affordable thermal/night vision out hands down👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿👍
sure is a good one ready now for the higher spec models.

Apologies if i missed it, but what is the caliber rating for this scope?

50bmg

as rich said below there is no real change even with a fx 20 moa built in.

Hi, thanks for the comment, some thing we will pass on.
No, just press a button on the scope to operate the rangefinder - no need for any type of remote - wired or wireless

Good video, thank you! But the text at the bottom is a distraction.
Ok, thanks but we have to cover content for all.
Clearly you have a fault with your scope, It goes blank every time you are about to take a shot, complete waist of money !!
Ye think might just be the editing 😂

Good choice. I have the Zulus 5-20 and the TNC225R. The day/night resolution is far better on the Zulus.
