I'm taking a big risk there. I'll do Jan 15 at 8/9c I won't go any higher. I have to frame it and make it look nice...
Lol.ill give ya 10 dollars
Never go to a pawn shop expecting to get what you want.
Yeah, and he got it for free, and wouldn't sell it for 65k. What an idiot.
@@Tipi83 I dont think hes an idiot..he obviously didnt need the cash right away luke from medical Bill's or whatever so he chose to see if you get a better offer
Tipi83 especially ricks
@@Tipi83 the episode was like a huge ad for collectors so he made the right choice.
@@bobbyward2440 Didn't need the cash right away, but was ready to sell it in a pawn shop..? Seems about right. He could've get 65k cash right away. And it's not guaranteed that he could've get that 100k, atleast not that fast.
Seller: got a rock from space
Rick: lemme call my buddy from mars
It's make me laugh 😂. Thanks buddy 😊
watched that one earlier
LOL THAT'S FUNNY
Marvin the Martian walks in .
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love it when the person who brings in the item says something about it and then the expert says the exact same thing
no signed: it has no sign, people would want it signed.
signed: it has a sign, people would want it without sign.
Never ever ever heard of an item that lost value because it was signed... just saying lol
@@TatsByTaco there was a comic on another episode that stan lee signed on like the cover and it actually lowered the value for some reason.
Also the almanac from back to the future 2 apparently was devalued because Christopher Lloyd signed the front cover
@@TatsByTaco early magic cards are actually worth more unsigned.
If I was a beach boy fan and had the money I wouldn't care that it wasn't signed. It's enough that it was on the cover of two albums.
Customer: I have a heart attack call 911
Rick: Best I can do is 9
Joey stud lmfao that’s pretty good
Joey stud not funny.
It would be funny if only this wasn’t the 700 time seeing it
9 and a half, that’s risky
Noobmaster69 😂😂😂
Buyer: can I get $2000
Rick: the best I can do is $5 and a quickie in the back from chum-lee, I’m taking a BIG risk here
Hahaha so true
Rawdie Chadwick 😂
LOL
All I can say is Rick owner of the pawn shop is a piranha it's kind of sad to see someone go through life like that
Lmaooo a quickie from chumlee 😂
“Let me call my buddy who’s an expert on one-of-a-kind Beach Boys surfboards...”
“Do you mind if I have someone look at it “
“Absolutely “
???
John Kincaid lol I know right I was confused as well
I reason I slid down to the comments was to see if anyone else picked up on that
A lot of people don't seem to understand when someone asks if you mind something, you don't answer ''yeah'' if you don't mind, you say no. If you do mind, you say yes.
Most people do understand that, you dweebs. Its just no one cares and in this case obviously they're not gonna say "yes, I do mind" when bringing in the expert is basically half of the show.
If someone has 70 grand to spend on a surf board, they have 100g
You abbreviate with a "K" not a G...
Right
Chip Reuter unless you are referring to something else, maybe greenery of some sory👀
@@chipreuter9478 The initial value he stated was "70 grand", aka $70,000. You've heard terms like "10 g's" before, right? Meaning $10,000. "G's" is slang for grand, aka thousand. It's pretty reasonable to assume that what he meant by 100g was "100 G", or "100 grand", aka $100,000. You abbreviate "thousand" with "k" - but he wasn't abbreviating "thousand". He was abbreviating "grand".
So, it's not that saying 100k would have been wrong....but grammatically, it would actually be weird and a bit improper to switch to "k" when his original phrasing was "70 grand", not "70k". Saying 100g is perfectly fine and correct....though it should probably be a capital G, since the lowercase would easily be mistaken for grams.
@@turntsnaco824 ON POINT
Rick: let me call a buddy of mine down here, knows everything about the beach boys.
😂😂
Calls in Brian Wilson! Who can't even remember taking the picture!
This is an insult to the Beach Boys community.
Nice Shot come on u work with this guy😃😂🏄♂️
This offer actually was an insult to the Beach Boys community.
Is the Beach Boy community still alive though???
@@raybrozzo7850 Haha I don't know man, it's just a meme.
@@benjaminpease5297 I second that
he auctioned it off later for a million, good call
Maebbie where did you find that out at?
Smart bigboy
he got 2 times what the fat bald guy offered LOL
the fat bald guy's head looks like a thumb because his neck is right in line with his head LMAO
@@Griffin1996 made it up
@@Niko-bf7nw Is there a reason you don't like Rick?
“Do you mind if I get someone to look at this?”
“Absolutely”
*proceeds to call expert anyway*
"Let me call a buddy of mine who knows something about these"
A great white shark walks in.
Mom: your grounded
Me: let me bring a buddy down here and tell you why I’m not and we can make a deal
Cloudy Dvmo BAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAAAA🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When Mr. Brown had signed the board it would easily go $2 million.
He sold it to the expert waiting outside.
For 90, 000
Rick makes a great point, he's the quick money guy, not the get what its worth guy. If the seller is willing to put in the leg work he may be able to get 100k+. You go to a guy like Rick because you DON'T want to put in the leg work and are comfortable taking a loss because of it.
Customer: Has a very iconic American Band item
Rick: calls British expert
And your point? Haha
I'm sure that he's now a naturalized US citizen. Which means that's he's an American.
1:38
Rick: do you mind if i have someone look at it?
Dude: Absolutely
Rick :Proceeds to call the expert anyways
who was he supposed to call then? the janitor?
@Junky Monkey nobody asked fo yo opinion. sit down
Welll exactly what I thought. He said absolutely I would mind that.
Signed items - “well collectors actually want the item to be in perfect brand new condition, these signatures actually decrease the value”
Non signed items - “Well sir these aren’t even signed by anyone.. real collectors want the item signed by the artist, with the signatures It would be worth twice that”
so accurate
This is not an antique that it should be in perfect condition. It's a memorabilia. The signatures are from the people the collectors are trying to remember.
People who go to Rick's pawn shop never heard of ebay.
you think they never heard of being on television?
I always found it really rude when some experts would leave and shake ricks hand and not the customers lol like really
The customer argued with him and clearly wasn’t happy, read social cues... this is the situation 99% of the time
Agreed.
Well! I would shake hands with the one paying me oney too.
I like how instead of keeping the board in the family and it’s “one of a kind” but he’s just like “yea imma sell it”
I hate people like that
Times get tough
Eventually someone in the family is gonna sell.. so why not beat em to the punch
How else would he get $100,000 from some rich boomer?
I can't stand you judgemental people.
Rick: "Do I mind if I ask someone to look at it?"
Seller: "Absolutely"
:-D
You can see the rage in Rick s eyes when he asks for 100000 lol
Rick: "Do you mind if I have someone look at it?"
Seller: "Absolutely."
Rick: "OK, well thanks for bringing it in."
Seller leaves.
sure he can look but no touching
Hi Rick I'm here to sell you my miniature UFO I found in the desert
Rick: ok let me call one of my little alien friends and see if this is legit UFO
Walks through door after and snaps it lol
Drops it, snaps in half, goes back in....”I’ll take that $65k for it”
I know the expert praised it at 70k$ but rick asked 65 thats actually the first time Rick wasn’t low balling Someone
Brian Wilson is seen as one of the greatest music songwriters of our modern times by many in the Rock n Roll industry. 1966, the album Pet Sounds inspired The Beatles to launch into their own psychedelic writing.
If it’s an iconic piece of history and his doesn’t need the money I would recommend to keep it or pass it on to the next generation
Mission impossible music for Rick to say "let me call a friend..."
Guy: I have a meth pipe signed by Chum.
Rick: The best I can do is a reach around and a piece of double bubble.
M00d 😂
Lmao let me call a buddy of mine
*Calls chumlee*
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rick:" Since I hate the Beach Boys i'll offer you 1/100th of a penny for it so I can have it destroyed"
Half the time they say, “ohhh you shouldn’t have gotten this signed, it takes away from the value. Collectors want it pristine.” Here they said “aww too bad it’s not signed, it’s worth less.”
lol which one is it!?
Depends on the item. Signed surfboard would lend credence to the Beach Boy claim. I saw the drummer for the Police, sign a drum set he'd never played with. A rare card speaks for itself, but anyone can fake a surfboard
Also depends how it's signed such as the led zeppelin album signed front & back making it impossible to display short of cutting it up.
Also sighned means there signature not a message to some random person.
Seems to me that they say anything they can to devalue the piece.
@@dodgeman4360 "but anyone can fake a surfboard"
Most people can't even make a surfboard, lol. There's way more people out there able to make fake cards though. That is a much easier task.
Bru how many friends he have 😂😂
Rick has a lot of friends, a friend for every type of item who knows everything about it
Nothing is free man. The experts do get something out of it for their time.
This is an insult to the Beach Boys surfing safari and Beach Boys surfer girl community.
I heard Rebecca is a surfer girl
"So i have this paper here... Signed, authenticated, with dna blood on it and confirmed by the lab, a photo of the person giving the paper to me, a record of the moment, a drawing of this moment drawn by my 18yrs old girl, a 3d model of this moment, an interview of all newspapers of this moment..."
"Ok... Let me call a guy to check this, ok?"
Rick: do you mind if i call someone to look at it?
Seller: absolutely!
Rick: (calls the expert anyway)
😂
"It's insured for $200,000."
Sure would be a shame if it got broke in half or lost in a fire...
;-)
Customer: I would like 100,000 dollars 💵
Rick: Ugh... Jeez the best I can do is 2 dollars I’m taking a huge risk here....
When i heard the name of the expert, I head a howl and i was waiting for Warwick to use his ultimate !
That surf board is going to require a really big frame lol.
I was soo happy when he passed! Good boy!
Seller brings a kryptonite crystal
Rick: `` Let me call a buddy of mine who'd understand more about it"
Superman walks in
Props to the guy for not being ripped off
I love it when they walk.
Definitely one of the coolest items on the show
Sold at auction for 132k
As it should
Imagine he tried surfing with it and a giant wave comes in and snatches it into the ocean, forever gone
Is this a repost of an earlier video? I feel like I've seen it.
muntu ye it is
It's on Pawn Stars youtube channel and the History youtube channel
We're surfing on the internet watching a surf board on a SERFver.
Very good “expert” this time
...at 12yrs old, living in San Diego, I learned to surf on a 9ft6inch Gordon and Smith surfboard very similar to this..my brother, father and I went to their shop. They ordered a custom built board very similar to this for a little over $100
I learn so much negotiation skill watching this channel
Lmao there’s always an issue with an item😂
I hate whenever Rick uses the argument "The problem with the Beachboys is theyre not the Beatles", and then completely devalues another icon in their own right.
Signing on a surf board? You have got to be kidding. I think Rick should have gotten this for 70k.
The $65,000 offer is an insult to the Beach Boys surfboard community.
Im sure this guy just happened to be in Vegas with this.
The other guy said he give him 70 thousand. Go with him.
should of negoticated with the other one lol
Imagine if he just starts negotiating with the other guy in front of Rick lol
And Rick let it slip when he said, I'll let you know if I get it. That seems inappropriate collusion between buyer and appraiser.
You fd up Rick!! The Beach Boys are right up there with the Beetles. Oh well your loss.
I wouldn't spend $100 on that thing. Who cares. It's not like Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat.
Bet the dude wished it somehow meretriciously "broke" when it was under insurance for $200, 000.
I would've bought a shed from home Depot for $400 then lit the shed on fire
There is standard lightning bolts that sell for over $15k to $20k, I seen boards sell for more than $100k, the thing is no one that can really surf and has won any surfing comps has anything to do with it, its just a board used by guys who played music, so yeah I think $100k is pushing it
I'd pay 250000 and then slap someone in the face with it
Let me get a buddy of mine😒😂opens door to basement 😃he got his experts shackled down there😂
Guy: Hey I got a one time travel to Mars i am trying to get 10 billion
Rick: *_sigh_* Best I can do is 10 bucks and im taking a BIG risk here...
Rick: ....... I mean mars is just not as popular as venus or jupiter lol
Rick: let me call my guy from nasa he knows everything about space.
Rick: *sigh* ........
i can get just about the same thing with a gram of weed...
@@mahihkan3592 thats a good one
If you have something truly 1 of a kind take it to a reputable auction house rather then a pawn shop. Auctioneer fees range from 10-30%, same as EBAY/[PAYPAL fees, Pawnshops typically want you to sell at 40% or less of the item's value.
Customer: Hello
Pawn Shop worker: Let me call in an expert
Not even worth $65,000 you almost wiped out on that one!
Should have taken that deal
This show makes me want to contemplate jumping off a bridge for 10,000 dollars. Only to be offered 2,000 by Rick so I just do it for free.
I only remember the beach boys from their guest appearances on Full House.
Dials phone: surfer board dude
Best I can do is a quick blowy behind the counter and 3 squirts of hand sanitizer
Rick is the guy who have lots of expert fren in anything
4:08 - "Beach are famous and all, but they are not as iconic as the Beatles"
Seriously, I would rather see him being straight and saying "I just can't pay that much", than see him giving an excuse so crappy as that one.
Why do people think a notarized letters means anything?
Rick & Friend's Pawn Shop
We all know why he turned the offer down.. he wants that 200k insurance check lol
Good job!For passing.Have it sign. The price for that board will still go up.
When rick call his friend down, that guy offer me $100K, please give me a lower price than $100K
Should take the 65k
It’s like everyone who brings their items to a pawn shop don’t actually know how pawn shops work 😂. In most local pawn shops, you’re lucky if you get 50% of its full value
Rick: "Beach Boys? Never heard of 'em. I'll give you $5 and a Pawn Stars keychain."
Rick: it’s just a big log... I can’t offer more than 5 bucks for fire wood...🤷🏽♂️
Rick wanted it for $65,000 to sell to the expert for $70,000. Quick $5,000 profit
he smart bring it in and use the pawn stars platform to do the marketing for him $$$$
Rick: I’ll give u 70 dollars the best I can do since there’s no signatures...
I would sell it in a heart beat . No board is worth over a $1000 to me period and I have been surfing almost 60 years.
It’s not just a board though: it’s the history with it. Like anything, it is worth what someone will pay for it.
@@TheBeingReal absolutely it has high value to others, usually older surfers that admired Greg as a hero of theirs. They reminisce about their young, hang it on their wall.l fit the age profile: admire him and others but surfing to me is the activity. I prefer to surf a board rather than look at it.
@@jeffwisener1378 can totslly respect that. 👍🏻
I love how people say they can get more somewhere else..
They should have done that first..
Wilson wasn’t the only one who surfed.. my dad got a board from mike love and grew up in Santa Barbara
In other videos the experts say things are worth less when signed lol
it depends on the items, and who signs it. when its a one of a kind item like this. its better to have it signed.
This belongs to a Rock and Roll museum.
"Do you mind if I have someone look at it?"
"Absolutely"
You're suppose to say "No I dont mind at all"
The guy auctioned it for £100,000. Which means after conversion and auction fees probably ended up with $65k.
