    Thanks for this. My mother and her family survived (Second Avenue), but inherited 4 weans from across the street whose parents were not so fortunate. Our family were split up too - my mother and one of her brothers were evacuated to Dysart and the rest of them were scattered across central Scotland. It took months before they all knew where one another was, never mind being reunited.

    My mum was a child during the blitz my gran was there the kids got sent to the country my gran had to stay behind and help I don’t know much about my grandfather my gran had 11 kids my grandfather died before I was born but no one spoke about him much my mum said he’d make toys from wood at Christmas and they got fruit she was making flowers one day and it looked like a real rose 🌹 I was like omg that’s amazing how do you know how to do that she said her father made them out of paper and sold them and that got them a chippy on a Friday after the war these people are the strongest in society only god knows what they think of young people today god bless them 🙏

    My Auntie Sadie and six children all perished. The only survivor was the baby Joseph who had been saved by his pram overturning and saving him.
