Really late, but came to comments to say same. I have a feeling the opponent was stream sniping and took Eric's words for granted. Earlier he prevent an insane attack after Eric gave an extensive explanation at 1:07:34 aswell. It does feel weird that he saw three attacks at once and yet was blind to such an easy move. Tho, I don't know if Eric was trying to trick him and sensed the stream snipe or did he really also miss that the queen can go back and block with the duck. I could be wrong and I might be making stuff up. EDIT : Eric did say he had a blind spot for the queen going back, but still opponent was sus (to me at least).

25:30 In the weird Scandinavian opening where Eric wins back the pawn, his opponents keep missing Nc3+Df6. This would prevent Eric from winning back the pawn. White can follow up with a6 later.
I.e. In all three games with this opening in this video, Eric's opponents played Nc3+Duck-e7, but Nc3+Duckf6 is much better IMO and seems to prevent Eric from winning back the pawn.
Nice idea! Trying to think of whether there's a refutation. Was wondering about 4.Nc3Df6 Qd6Dc4, threatening to recapture on d5, but then 5.Nb5Db6 looks great for White. I also wondered about 4...e6Dc4, but 5.dxe6Dd7 seems pretty good for White as well. In the end, I'd probably just play 4...e6Dd7 5.Bc4D(any) exd5D(any) and hope that the open lines in the center are enough compensation for the missing pawn.
@@fifdspence I haven't analyzed deeply to know if there's a refutation, but intuitively it seems like a much better try for white than just allowing black to immediately win back the pawn. Look at it a bit more, I like your 4... Qd6Dc4. I think your 5.Nb5Db6 is a mistake because black could play Qc5Dc6 preventing white from playing Nxc7) and seems to be winning back the pawn). But white could play 5.Nb5Dc6 allowing white the possibility of Nxc7 later if black plays Qc5. It's not clear to me how black can win back the pawn (may still be possible, but it's at least not easy to spot).
1:28:16 i think a great move by the opponent could be to move the queen here, you basically get a piece back if the opp is pre-moving, and you've lost the game anyway if he isn't(only possible because there is no concept of check, he can leave his king to die)
I love using gambits in duck chess. The development seems to be worth way more in duck chess than normal chess because usually the duck cramps your position in an even match. Just had one where my opponent accepted the danish gambit and I ate the poor person's soul. They work so well.
58:16 He missed N×f2++ De3 followed by N×Rh1 Dg2. It's double check from Knight and Queen after opponent moves Duck, so White must move the King and lose the Rook next move.
Really enjoying these videos! Duck chess is getting me back into chess after a long dalliance with Go, and as far as I can tell you're the authoritative source for all things Duck Chess :)
At 48:57, I think the rules of duck check should allow an en passant capture in situation, on the basis that an en passant capture at a square passed over by a pawn retroactively causes the pawn to have stopped on that square, and if the pawn stopped on that square, that should retroactively mean the duck couldn't have been placed there (where the duck might have been plalced instead would be irrelevant).
@@ashtimbog I think Eric was worried about the possibility that the duck could block an en passant capture. My point was that if there's a black pawn at e4 and White plays d4 and duck d3, I think Black should be allowed to make an en-passant capture despite the duck seemingly being present at d3. The simplest way to accommodate that may be to say that if White moves e4 duck e3, and Black wants to capture en passant at e3, White's move would be treated as though ti had been e3 duck e4, which would of course allow the pawn at e3 to be captured.
