Here's hoping it keeps with the spirit of what they showed in that 2018 demo. That's a big sense of scale they offered there. The vehicle combat looked enjoyable, the transition from your ship to your fighter looked smooth and without any unnecessary flare, the city they showed off - and the fact that you could see it from space - were pretty awesome. It has the capacity to do a scaled down version of what Star Citizen was aiming for, but for a focused SP narrative, and I'm about that.
As much as people dog it, I'm glad to hear it's still in the works because it's by far the most ambitious game from a AAA developer right now, so, I'm fine to wait and hope they surprise everyone. Also, Ubisoft is making a Star Wars action RPG as well. I'm hoping they use all the tech from this game for that Star Wars open world game as well. Just imagine the possibilities. A STAR WARS rpg using this sort of tech could make Ubisoft more money than anything they've ever made before.
Ubisoft and surprise? nice joke. you gave me good laughs. Star Wars didn't bring EA more money than anything they ever made. just cause Ubisoft will make a Star Wars game means nothing.
A star wars RPG with the same concept and design as what Beyond good and evil 2 have been said to have would be insane. The game could easily be more popular than any modern Ubisoft title and bring them some MUCH needed recognition and respect to their reputation.

It's a good idea, but this idea of having a planet facing the one side of the planet to protect one part from the meteorites was clearly a cover up for the monstrous quantity of work required to fill these planets with life. All that in a open world. This would take at least another 10 years to complete the whole solar system. For what ultimately? Hours of roaming? Whacky side quests? I'm sure this is not needed to complete the whole story. Now if they stuck to this idea 15 years ago, things would be different and polished. Want to point out that the original BG&E was essentially a Zelda-type game with strong characters and personalities, I can't emphasize enough how badly of a departure the 2018 showcase felt to any fans of the original game. It may has well have been made with a completely unconnected title. Not that it matters since I'm going on the record believing this game will *never* release. As many familiar with the industry noted at the time, it was massively overscoped, it's completely unfeasible for it to ever release in the state that was promised at that time. Maybe some different iteration of the game will release under the BG&E2 name, but personally as a fan of the original even I don't care and don't want to see it. The original game was special for many different reasons, and all of them have apparently been forgotten at Ubisoft.
This game can be well considered as a reboot, since the first idea of BGE was a open world game really big, but they had to cut that idea out since the limitations of the time. But still, the first game will always be at my heart and at my top 10 best games.
From the deep diving I've done on the dev of the first game, Michel Ancel et al obviously never achieved the massive open-world aim he wanted for BG&E, cut it down to whatever satisficed Ubisoft at the time and then the product, though not matching his vision, became a cult classic and was now using that popularity to (hopefully) actually make what he first wanted to as the sequel. As much as i'd like to see Beyond Good & Evil 2, im just not sure i actually want what they've shown thus far. I mean i like the first game because it was not a massive open world, it had it's areas to expore then move on with the story. it had it's art style, but now they go with the hyper realistic? I sure would have been pleased with them making a similar game and put more effort into just continue the story and rack in some money, and not all of the money.
In Beyond Good & Evil 2 you can see alot of gameplay elements from Starlink: Battle of Atlas or maybe is the vice versa. Like the way the open world works, and the flighting, maybe Starlink was a sneak peak of what Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be.
Remember when Ubisoft had people who put out creative games with fun ideas & imaginative settings like Rayman 1-3 & BG&E 1? Yeah those where ancient times, eh?
Sad to think how ambitious the game was at the time it was announced/revealed and how many other similar games have been or are set to be released before it, thus saturating the market. Don't get me wrong, I am happy the devs are still moving forward with it and I will definitely pick it up upon its release but I imagine the nostalgic nature of the story will likely be the selling point for me.
I want a new BGE game, but I really don't want it to be about chimp pirates and crime empires. The original was a futuristic fairy tale about the eternal fight of good and evil, hence the name. A story about gray morals and anti-heroes has absolutely zero magic and allure of the original. As far as I'm concerned, BGE2 is dead and Ubuysoft just slapped its name on something else.
I don’t understand why they need to do all of this… just make a sequel to beyond good and evil. This uses the name and nothing else. “Oh people love beyond good and evil? Let’s use the name and make something completely different”
The no loading screen is their excuse for laziness. Can't release it until we figure out how to do it all without load screens. At this point nobody cares about load screens
I can remember one of the first demos of this game showcased a new technology (tessellation) that would change the game industry forever... and this game was leading said technology
Ubisoft: "We've just spent a bunch of money on Quarts, aka NFT's and that didn't work out at all. We've spent the majority of our investment money into it and thus are left with nothing. As such leadership is letting you all know that you gotta tighten the belt and meet them damn timelines!" Also Ubisoft: "We expect you to work 27 hours a day by the way"
I don't know where you get the idea from that a little blockchain experiment would cost "the majority" of anything^^ A project like Quarts has maybe a dozen or two dozen employees spending their time on it for a couple months while a project like BGE2 and SnB has 300-400 people working on it for a decade.. this is where money is lost not that little blockchain adventure.
It'll come back as a live service online multiplayer game. Maybe a battle royale. Where your character says stuff like "No big deal, I'm just driving a FREAKING SPACESHIP"
The platform and graphics technology will exponentially progress so I hope the game will catch up (it's been 15 years!). I think the ambitious scale of this requires a cloud service to access the terabyte server lol. Like a single player "MMO" to play the massive world haha
the version from 2017 doesnt feel anything like BGE to me, it felt more like a complete reimaginen / reboot of the entire francise than a proper sequel. also it was just a playable tech demo back then, nothing more. I really dont want to ahve a sequel like this with probably a lot of the usual ubisoft forumla in it
Also, you dont give people money, you dont have good product. Like its so nice putting unachievable demands and then do the "unplanned" layoffs. I think those layoffs were planned and this is just a circus to distract us from unfair practices in Ubisoft
This is already the biggest embarrassment in Ubisoft history. I can't even imagine it being good enough to justify this long of a delay. And would be glad to be proven wrong but what I'm expecting is a huge and ambitious, but chaotic and buggy mess.
If they hadn't alienated the majority of their original player base, along with making good video games, this wouldn't be happening to them. Not excited for them making Star Wars now.
Having worked in the industry, I know well enough that you are right about the memo from Ubisoft's boss. He is basically asking for the developers to live and work half their lives at the studio for the foreseeable future. It means no new hires, so suck it up. I was in this situation before, and it wrecked my health. No job or game is worth that. Based on what I know now, if I was working there, I would see it as a big red flag and would consider options of working somewhere else. This scenario is typically easier for high-level talent, who are more likely to have places to go if they want to jump ship. But the low-level grunts are more likely to have to stick it out. I wonder what incentives the company is using to prevent hemorrhaging of talent.
I remember in like 2009-2010 hearing about a new Ubisoft game I was stoked. Fast forward to today I honestly don’t even know what they’re working on (Assasins Creed 37 I assume?)and I couldn’t care less.
This game will come out...in 2064 and it'll look like a game from 2015 it'll be broken and won't work due to poor management and so on. Just like every...single... other game that has been stuck in development hell. Ubisoft needs to LET THIS GO. The don't have to waste the money on this like they do Skull and bones. -_- Jeez
addressing the nostalgia around 12:00 The Division and R6 were broken on release. I also saw a decent amount of controversy regarding For Honor and its p2p problems/cheaters? I played the hell out of R6 and The Division but god were the games broken
i really hope this game works out. take out the co-op thats going to be the achilles heel because it will limit alot of things. make the multiplayer like an arena or something. i know they said there will be fight pitts. also just have one system maybe 6 planets max. i always think back to KOTOR man i loved that game.
I have no particular attachment to ubisoft, but it still is a shame to witness the company falling off the deep end before our eyes. we know they're capable of doing amazing things in their games, but they just haven't been. really sucks to see
I've also heard that Michel ancel creator of Rayman who was head of this project has stepped down? So it's going through another reboot? I dunno though.. Maybe it was just rumors.
This game does not feel like BGAE. All i feel from this video is UBISOFT, everything feels like UBISOFT and i can tell, they fuck this game up. Will love the first game always!
Man.. Beyond good and evil 2 is just going to be a nice experince and a starting off point for when developers leave and work on a different project. I dont see that game releasing at all. Thats the kind a game that sinks a company to the brink and than saves or ends a company.. Its the last push. But they started doing that while they were sinking thers nothing left to push with.
@@yahootube90 nice joke. you gave me good laughs. Ubisoft cannot make a good Assassin's Creed game anymore and it's an ip they make for decades and look what happens with this game.
Honestly, they should have just made a story adventure game like what they showed in the trailer 16 years ago. If that were to be successful, try this new idea.
You know I actually feel really sorry for Ubisoft at this stage. They feel like a circus animal whose investors won’t let them do more than the same five tricks. All of their projects keep getting canceled and the ones that aren’t get delayed into irrelevance. Their open world games have become a meme of what not to do and their live service are either a hit or a massive miss. I’d love to see beyond good and evil 2, but I can’t say I’m willing to hold my breath waiting.
As long as BGE2 still in development and maybe releasing in the future could help stabilize the stock price. Once it releases it has to actually bring in the money or Ubisofts value will just deteriorate further. Good chance that Ubisoft won't be around anymore in 10 years.
That product pitch is ridiculously large scale and hard to execute, and I would love every moment of it. Too bad that Ubisoft will most likely never realize it Starfield anyone? 🤣
This game literally sounds like starfield which will be better than this anyways, they should just scrap it and make a game like beyond good and evil 1
I am not buying those gimmicks with "fully explorable" planets with tons of content inside -- almost like what happened with NMS. I won't buy until i've seen steam reviews and gameplay youtube videos after the launch.
It really sounded too good to be true and its no wonder it still isn't anywhere close to being done. They have to keep starting over because they keep missing out on an entire generation of gaming consoles. If they released a completed version of the original build it would probably be great for the PS3/360 but not for this cycle of hardware.
Tbh, when I saw the first teasers of a second BYG&E, I was so hyped.. Then we saw the trailer on E3 in 2017 and I was still hyped. But from that point, I lost the hype, because they lost the plot from the first game and I think I'm safe to speak for all people who loved the first game that we deserved better than this..

Beyond Dead & Unretrievable
OMG, you won me within 30 seconds of material with comparing shots from BG&E2 to Wax&Wayne series :D
Beyond Good and Evil 2 just doesn't want to end up like Cyberpunk 2077.
Nobody has hype for this game as hard as people were thirsty for CP.
As far as I'm concerned, BGE2 is dead and Ubuysoft just slapped its name on something else.
im glad they rebooted... they got more technology that's capable and realized it was a power move.. good choice have faith.
Does anyone notice anything when I say Beyond Good and Evil 2 prototype evolve into Star Wars outlaws ?
Only recently came across your channel man. I like your content homie, keep it coming.
I can't believe it's still in development. I hope that's true, I've been waiting literally half my life for this game. 😭
Ubisoft:
"We've just spent a bunch of money on Quarts, aka NFT's and that didn't work out at all. We've spent the majority of our investment money into it and thus are left with nothing. As such leadership is letting you all know that you gotta tighten the belt and meet them damn timelines!"
Also Ubisoft: "We expect you to work 27 hours a day by the way"
I don't know where you get the idea from that a little blockchain experiment would cost "the majority" of anything^^ A project like Quarts has maybe a dozen or two dozen employees spending their time on it for a couple months while a project like BGE2 and SnB has 300-400 people working on it for a decade.. this is where money is lost not that little blockchain adventure.
It'll come back as a live service online multiplayer game. Maybe a battle royale. Where your character says stuff like "No big deal, I'm just driving a FREAKING SPACESHIP"
They should rename it 'Beyond Good And Evil Forever'.
Been following this game since 2017 would it kill them to give us an update anytime soon
Glad Ubisoft is feeling the pinch of using the same formulas over and over again. Hopefully, it leads to more originality to their games.
randomly thought of this video game today, searched it on youtube because it's been 6 years, saw this video was posted 22 hours ago. based and subbed
Don't hold your breath for Heartland I played during multiple testing phases and it was...... let's just say disappointing
I would pay $100 for this if it ever comes out!!!!
The platform and graphics technology will exponentially progress so I hope the game will catch up (it's been 15 years!).
I think the ambitious scale of this requires a cloud service to access the terabyte server lol. Like a single player "MMO" to play the massive world haha
in general PC / console hardware doesnt grow exponentially in power anymore, that was a theory a bunch of decades ago but it was wrong
They should call it Beyond Good and Evil Forever
Maybe if it was a sequel, but as a prequel I don’t think it works.
@@JoopyWeezer I don’t think you get the joke. If you know about the history of Duke Nukem Forever, you’d probably get it
@@samdiego1965 I don’t, also to be fair my point still stands.
I really hope so I want this game to come out so bad
I hope they add stealth in to this because it wouldn't be Beyond good and evil without it :c
the version from 2017 doesnt feel anything like BGE to me, it felt more like a complete reimaginen / reboot of the entire francise than a proper sequel.
also it was just a playable tech demo back then, nothing more.
I really dont want to ahve a sequel like this with probably a lot of the usual ubisoft forumla in it
If ur a fan who’s in my pfp?
Your own engine is just development hell and when you make it, its already 5 years older than current Unity or Unreal in terms of tech
Black flag is one of the best games I have ever played, after that I don't know what happened to ubisoft but its been a steady decline.
Cool that it's still in development, but I don't want this... I want a single-player game that follow up on the first one...
I had completely forgotten they were making a sequel in the first place. Damn.
it is NOT a sequel... it's barely in the same universe.
If they hadn't alienated the majority of their original player base, along with making good video games, this wouldn't be happening to them. Not excited for them making Star Wars now.
This. They chased the woke/ESG mob, and now they're paying the price for it.
also, it's made together with the woke trash Lucasfilm. a woke Hollywood studio will do a Star Wars game with a woke game developer.
I've said it once but I'll say it again, this game was too ambitious!
Nothing to do with ambition. There’s just no talent in the games industry anymore.
@@chaz__ you do bring up a fair point, I agree.
Ofcourse there is talent. Wtf?
@@chaz__ So indie games don't count as games?
@@chaz__ That's just blatantly wrong lmao
I remember in like 2009-2010 hearing about a new Ubisoft game I was stoked. Fast forward to today I honestly don’t even know what they’re working on (Assasins Creed 37 I assume?)and I couldn’t care less.
first game is a core memory of my gaming childhood
Since the first couple of trailers and gameplays I’ve just had this unsettling feeling that this game will play/feel nothing like the OG BGE…
Always forgetting about our lovely Anno series in your videos *sniff*
The tech demo looked so good... I really hope I don't get murdered before this comes out
This game will come out...in 2064 and it'll look like a game from 2015 it'll be broken and won't work due to poor management and so on.
I played the hell out of R6 and The Division but god were the games broken
that's unbelievable! this has nothing to do with the first part.
bro this game still looks so good something like fifth element. would be a real shame if it never releases
I have gone from Elementary school to leaving Highschool and getting a job in this time.
hearing what they want to accomplish sounds too big to do. Fully explorable planets? Making one takes several years.
i really hope this game works out. take out the co-op thats going to be the achilles heel because it will limit alot of things. make the multiplayer like an arena or something. i know they said there will be fight pitts. also just have one system maybe 6 planets max. i always think back to KOTOR man i loved that game.
You don't fix a game by taking out a key feature.
@@Ricolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa what else are they gonna do sit in development hell? end up having wierd thethering issues
@d.o.t5981 not saying that but the game is simply to ambitious. thats why
2045 the same time Star Citizen releases.
We've all waited 15 years. Let's all be willing to wait a little longer so it's done right. I'll see yall on the game :)
I have no particular attachment to ubisoft, but it still is a shame to witness the company falling off the deep end before our eyes. we know they're capable of doing amazing things in their games, but they just haven't been. really sucks to see
yeah for 15-20 years.
Not really a shame. They chose their path. They chose ESG and wokeness as their priorities over gamers.
They only know capable making ideas
Ubisoft is a horrible company! Thier games are casinos and they have chased clowt by catering to the woke crowd.
ubisoft just turned into a generic shady game company just like EA, they had their time during the early 2000s until the early 2010s.
Man Ubisoft is so undervalued at 3 billion euros market cap... It should be at least 15 billion
The game is dead and it will never be a Part 2 even when I it's called Part 2.
There's no chance this will make enough money to justify the cost of the development.
They will take whatever they learned making these little tech concepts for this game and use it for the Star Wars game and leave this one behind.
@@yahootube90 nice joke. you gave me good laughs. Ubisoft cannot make a good Assassin's Creed game anymore and it's an ip they make for decades and look what happens with this game.
sometimes it is better if ideas remain dreams... i believe that we already can only be disappointed.
Too bad that Ubisoft will most likely never realize it
Starfield anyone? 🤣
This game literally sounds like starfield which will be better than this anyways, they should just scrap it and make a game like beyond good and evil 1
well the first game was pretty much planned like that, huge open world and other planets to travel to etc, but they needed to cut it down
I am not buying those gimmicks with "fully explorable" planets with tons of content inside -- almost like what happened with NMS.
Thank god this game hasn’t been canned
Fingers crossed for Beyond good n evil... Liking the plates on those v-modas 4:59
Beyond good and evil is My favourite game ! Played it 20 times
