- This gat uses the D-R-R bol(D=Da R=Ra) of Ustad Imdad Khan and is super-difficult.
The tempo is super-fast, yet the Clarity and Weight of the strokes and the balance of Da and Ra are out-of-this-world...
This is a tremendous composition of Ustad Enayat Khan, father of Ustad Vilayat Khan, being presented at an workshop in Subhranil Sarkar's place by non other than Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, Ustad Imdad Khan's great-grandson.

'' Namaskar!
From my very childhood I have been listening to great Sitar Maestros like Ustad Vilayat Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Imrat Khan, Ustad Rais Khan, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee and others. For me, they are like the most brilliant Stars in the sky!
Little did I know that one day I would be able to come so close to one such Star.
I feel privileged to be a disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, who has not only given me 'khaas' Taleem but also taken me on stage to accompany him on the Sitar.
Please take a look at my channel for music clips of Ustad Imdad Khan, Ustad Enayat Khan, Ustad Wahid Khan, Ustad Amir Khan, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan and several other maestros.
There are a few clips from my concerts as well. It would be my pleasure if you listen to them. Hope you would enjoy them! '' - Subhranil Sarkar
he is the best sitar player and a cool guy. I had a lesson with him once on Sarangi. Total master, a God gift to the world.

Can you provide that video link, or name of that video, with which I can search and listen. It would be of immense help.

thanks for posting, excellent
Oh ho ho wah, kya baat hai.
Enjoy!
awesome...finally a video that has Shahid Ji speaking about Sitar technique.
There is a video recording on Google video of Ustad Vilayat Hussain Khansahab playing this very same bandish.
Thank you very much, EtawahSitari. Very nice clip, interesting to see Shahid-Sahab speaking and lecturing!
There appears to be confusion among many between the names Vilayat Khan, the sitariya and Vilayat Hussain Khan, the classical singer. Those were certainly distinct and two great musicians.
This master is absolutely out of the world
yes, you guessed it right, he is demonstraiting a technique by Imdad Khan, his great grand father. The technicalities are mentioned below in the comments.
It is a special technique that Ustad Imdad Khan used. There is no special mizrab.
Subhranil ji amke plzz bolte paren shahid ji ki kolkata te sekhan jdi sekhan plzz amke bolun ami onr kache classical sikhte chai ashole ami akjon esraj player tai sitar er sathe onnek mil ache to plzz amke bolun
workshop holey janabo.. stay in touch..
It is not the Mizrab but the bol that Ustadji is able to generate from the same mizrab. In this short clip he also demonstrates what that bol is and how he hits the mizrab to achieve the bol.
But this is all theory, reproducing it is totally different.
Wonderful knowledge... Thank you so much Subhranil Sir.
Could you tell us where to find the complete video of this or any other informative videos for learning sitar for beginners like me?
It would be very helpful.
You are most welcome!
I shall try and upload.
But, I feel Sitar should be learnt from a Guru..
@@SubhranilSarkar . Yes sir. Alhumdulillah now I'm learning from a very good sitarist.
Also these videos of legends, help in building up the vision of Music.
@@ABDALLAHJAMANI very good.. keep giving your best to be a true disciple of your Guru. All the best.
@@SubhranilSarkar. Thank you Sir.
Mr. udumbel, there is no such mizrab called the Imdadkhani mizrab. In this video, Ustad ji refers to the bols as mizrab.
This is an excellent video. I would love to know what he is saying. I presume it's about his great-grandfather's technique. Anyone care to translate?
