"How drunk were you?" Billy Crystal & John Goodman on making Monsters at Work

- 20 years after Monsters, Inc. took the world by storm, the monsters we all know and love are back in their latest instalment Monsters at Work, along with a few new faces. Billy Crystal and John Goodman caught up with BBC Radio 1’s film critic Ali Plumb to talk about everything from Billy turning down the role of Buzz Lightyear, to meeting fans with Mike and Sully butt cheek tattoos. Plus, we take a look at some of the early sketches of Mike Wazowski and Sulley presented to Billy and John.
Important note: John Goodman's microphone failed during the interview, which is of course a real shame. The joys of modern technology! Fingers crossed next time Mike can somehow fix Sulley's, um, mic.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but Mike and Sulley are the best character duo in Pixar’s filmography.
I don’t think that’s unpopular, an unpopular duo is Ian and Barkey or McQueen or Mater.

Billy Crystal's performance as Mike is underrated/underappreciated in my opinion. He's the only animated character I was ever able to look up to and genuinely like.
Yeah I agree with you. You can tell by listening to Billy Crystal that he loves the character too. So far I absolutely love Monsters at Work, but I do want too see a true sequel to Monsters, Inc. If you don’t mind me asking what is your favorite Pixar movie?

I don’t think that John was offered the Woody role. Crystal was definitely offered Buzz though
