Yup, 1989 model year Ram 50 with the VIN for the win and the 10th VIN digit of "K" confirms it to be a 1989 model year vehicle. This one is a 4x4 and has the 2.6L four-cylinder engine. It was assembled in Nagoya, Japan. We got the tag, we can brag: T86 is Caspian Blue exterior paint, H84 is Ascot Silver exterior paint, among other codes. G54B denotes the 2.6L four-cylinder engine, KM148 is for a four-speed automatic transmission, 4222 should be a 4.222:1 rear axle ratio.
The AC was probably installed "at the port" of entry in the USA (or at the dealer) when it was shipped from Japan.

I think they are @@NathansMoparGarage . Two reasons, one is that people went from owning a nice floor jack and an air impact wrench to plasma cutters and easy to use welders.
So a mini truck is an easy foundation to build from.
The second is they made all the trucks too big, too expensive and too shiny. People need to work and work is in the cities.
Only people don't need to live in the cities. So they picked small gas sippers with no payments.

Known down under as Mitsubishi Triton. I used to run one as a delivery courier 15 years ago, same 2.6 Astron engine. Earlier models were known as Mitsubishi L200 Express, but the very first in the late 1970s were badged as Chrysler D50. Just some useless trivia from a land far away 🤣
