@Suzy homestead I'm American but I live in North Africa. I trained as a chef, you cook for the needs of your family and you're cooking from "scratch" as we say back home. Most don't know how to do this, so I give you big respect for this. Another thing is that if the naysayers on here believe that when they go to eat out that their food is "cooked fresh" you have a surprise coming. We prep food days and weeks ahead. Some we freeze and some we vacuum seal until we are ready to warm and present it on a plate to you. Your nutrients aren't lost. She is saving money, fuel, and time and for those who don't know, time is money. It is better for her to have food prepped and cooked than to purchase food from outside as it will cost her more money. Many women that I know back home that have large families cook multiple meals, batch cook all day long and freeze their foods. If some of you who can't or don't have the freezer space to do so, you can prep your meats and vegetables and freeze them or have them ready to do this days ahead. It does save you valuable time, helps you to plan and prepare many wonderful meals and give you a sense of accomplishment. I will say to you Suzy you're doing a wonderful job and let me give you some items to look up to add to your recipes is "beef pot pie, and shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, chicken cacciatore." You cook with a lot of the items already and these dishes freeze just as well....I salute you for caring so well for your family and your presentation!🌹💚
Aaaawww!!! You have just officially made my day with your kind words!!! Thank you for validating this. Coming from a chef, it means a lot! I will definitely look up those recipes! God bless you so much!! 💐💐💐
I second this comment, first of all…my gal I’m from Muranga, much respect to you gal!! I live in 🇺🇸 & long time ago I used to batch cook & I did a lot of vegetables canning during summer time,it takes a lot of time but very satisfying coz you have control of what your family is eating & you know every ingredient, I’am an old geezer now & my kids are all grown now, I still cook from scratch but I don’t batch cook anymore, you are doing an awesome job!!!👏🏾👍🏾
Batch cooking is the mother of all invention!!! i really love it and gives me such a sense of accomplishment when laying all the foods out once am done. Bravo dearie, you're doing a really great job!
First time watching your videos. I find it easier to blend everything up instead of cutting them up .... It helps me cook faster when everything is ready I don't have to start prepping from scratch plus it gives a nice thick stew for the meats and cereals.. Great content☺️☺️
Suzy those in the know, especially with large families, knows that batch cooking is the way to go 👍🏾 I batch cook for the week, as that is the space I can accommodate. Lovely work Susan. Congratulations. I batch cook for the week, mostly just boil different kinds of beans and githeri. Lentils I soak for 24 hours then make the stew without boiling first like beans. I find that they cook better that way. I love mbiringanyas(aubergine 🍆.. eh this one autocorrect has helped me) in my stews and tumeric too.. not bad. For chicken I prefer to marinate then vacuum seal and air fry when am ready.. but I don't have a large space so I just store most of my meats raw then cook when ready. All together, congratulations,I love your videos... I love it that am not alone in this habit..
Wonderful informative video Suzy! I am a firm believer in the saying that wives did not come to this world to suffer and batch cooking is a sure route to eliminating daily suffering.. LOL - removes the headache of rushing home to cook daily or thinking through what to eat all day. Suggestion/Question - if your bases are the same would you consider cooking one big base e.g of the onion, garlic, celery e.tc then time for cooking distribute it in the different pots to season with the different spices? On suggestions to add to your food - You could fry garlic on its own in oil to flavour the oil - it adds quite a punchy flavouring to food. Also frying dania with your onions enhances flavour. For the blender - I got a bullet blender a couple of years back and it has been a worthy investment - highly recommend or a food processing blender. X!
