What blows my mind is this is just the process for making blood. There are thousands similarly complicated processes going simultaneously in the body. Amazing.
I give blood every 2-3 months. Everyone should, if eligible. I had a skin graft surgery in 2014, I required 31 units of blood products. At least that's what I was told. So I've been trying ever since to pay it back. Although I've been donating fairly regularly since 2002, and I've donated 5 gallons total, plus I've done 2 platelet donation (although I'm not allowed to anymore, so I was told last time I have platelets) Platelet donation are greatly appreciated, but absolutely not for the faint of heart....90 minutes minimum stuck in a chair with a horse needle in each arm....can't get up the whole time.
