    I imagine that the preliminary AA-2 Ascent Abort test-report will be out by the end of July followed by the final report in September.

    why no parachutes to slow it's decent? impact survivability is doubtful

      aaron keeth the operational crew Orion obviously WILL have parachutes

      This was just a test, there was no crew so no need for parachutes; obviously the actual Orion will have parachutes.

    a full test would have parachutes,, seems like a waste of money NOT to do it..but the taxpayers will pony up again

    2020's will be the "Decade of Space" a repeat of the 1960's 60 years later. We now have Space X, Blue Origin, and NASA in operation. We haven't seen missions from NASA & Blue Origin yet. I wonder who will reach the moon first. Will it be Space X, Blue Origin or NASA. Which will put an American Astronaut in space since 2012 first? An exciting space race in our own country!!! How exciting!!!

      Um, you do know NASA will pay whatever company designs the best lander, right? You don't actually believe NASA builds its own craft, do you? What do you mean "who will reach the moon first"?? You don't think Space X or Blue Origin (or the other 9 companies in the running) will go to the moon themselves, do you?

    I don't think it was supposed to tumble as bad as it did.

    • @Mishn0
      @Mishn0 5 років тому +1

      The drogue 'chute would prevent tumbling. If it were there...

      it most certainly was supposed to tumble

      Lee Williams yes that was the point of the test...stress loading at varying designed parameters, then righting the capsule.

    How stupid to not have parachutes even if not needed for test. It sure would have given everyone more trust in NASA.

      Parachutes were not needed for this test (that wasn't the purpose nor the focus of this test).

      How is it a waste of money. The last thing you want is to find out that it didn't work during a human launch. The Orion capsule is full of holes for hundreds of sensors. So many holes it would never be repairable for reuse.

      "waste of money" says a person who really doesn't care about the safety of humans furthering science...

    At least you didn't build your rocket in a junk yard like FailX.

      Fail? Which SpaceX mission failed and why would NASA be their client if they fail?
