- Caer Caradoc (459.5 m) is my personal favorite Shropshire Hill. I wish it was the highest... but it's not, it is 8th on the list. Rugged, rocky (in places) and full of character. It even has a (small) cave and overlooks many other neighboring hills and also the pretty town of Church Stretton. And nearby , in the village of Cardington, is a truly lovely little pub... 'The Royal Oak'. If you haven't been there, you MUST. Stephen, the Landlord, is a gentle giant who knows how to look after his beer and serves excellent food too! Watch out for his fluffy cat.
MY STARTING POINT: Grid Ref: SO 49094 95285 Nearest Postcode: SY6 7HW
Great set of videos Julian. I first walked up Caradoc 40 years ago and have returned many times,, my own personal favourite as well. I only found the cave fairly recently. The view north east over The Lawley to The Wrekin is fantastic. Agree, The Royal Oak is very good, especially if they have Purple Moose on tap!
My favourite Shropshire hill. Lovely film. Thanks 😊.
It's my favourite too!
Thanks for showing the location of the cave. Never been able to find it, despite trying pretty hard.
Once I heard about the cave it took me quite some time to find it. It took two attempts. I was looking everywhere with rocky outcrops... when infact it's almost camouflaged in grassy heather
Great work again and sountrack, inspiring stuff, caer carodoc tomorrow for me,thanks :-)
A fantastic hill! Enjoy your walk.
Awesome. Thanks.
My pleasure.
Nice... 👍👍👍👍
A dream of a hill walk. So special.
Indeed, a very special place. Thanks
Fabulous.
I've only ever walked this from Church Stretton. I do like your alternative approach though. Great film.
The majority of people would start from Church Stretton, but there's a very waterlogged field you end up going through that way.
I like to start at the Lawley and walk to Caer Caradoc and back.
Nice circuit. Plenty of distance to stretch the legs.
459m I thought? Agreed a great hill.
Oops. You're right! Typo. Apologies. I will correct that.
Thanks for this - Where did you start from ?
A lot of people start from Church Stretton. I prefer to start from Wilstone farm... the start points are at the end of each films description. Both coordinates and nearest postcode. Enjoy!
@@shropshirehillwalks5343 many thanks for this. We are lucky in Shropshire. Stippertones, Wenlock Edge, Wrekin....
