    Thanks for getting this one up in the air, Justin! Pretty sure you’re the first one to show any flight footage and it looks like it flies really well keep up the good work!

      Yes first one to fly it! It’s so quiet man. I’m really hoping people are right about 1 hr flight time on that 7000mah battery. 🔋

    I flew RC wayyy back in the 70's as a kid. I'm recently getting back into RC planes and new to drones. I will tell you that RC planes being offered by most manufacturers today are a big departure from early airframe design. I'm not even talking about the materials but airframe layout and configuration. Example, this aircraft has no dihedral which reduces inherent stability. I understand that from a manufacturing perspective, a straight wing works better with carbon tube spars, however, if the wing were set up on top of the fuselage instead of centered this would increase the pendulum effect thereby providing more inherent stability even without dihedral in the wing. In addition, a shoulder wing layout would provide more prop and wing tip clearance for belly landings reducing the probability of wing tip and propeller damage. Also, I'm curious about the plug in wing connector at the root, in your opinion is the convenience of that feature really a big deal as opposed to traditional connections for motor and servos? Is it a deal breaker for some people? Also, did you use an Insta 360 for the video and does it automatically align the horizon as though the camera were on a gimbal? Thanks?

    • @trumblez
      @trumblez 2 місяці тому

      You don't want dihedral on these planes, you don't want top mounted wings either, thats becaus dihedral reduces efficiency and you want this plane to be very agile, you DONT want it to be that stable, we still have trainers with a lot of dihedral but this is NOT a trainer

    • @trumblez
      @trumblez 2 місяці тому

      Also, the wing plug is amazing and you defenetly want it, especally if you have not only one servo but like a vtx for video or a airspeed sensor on the wing too

    Good video, nice to finally see it airborne, I was sitting on the fence but ended up ordering one after I crashed my Zohd Drift; the pride of my fleet.
    The Drift was a great little cruiser, it was a little underpowered though, the Altus looks a lot sturdier and that extra speed is much needed.
    I will probably glue the fuselage back together on the Drift later down the line, the damage isn't too bad, but the wife doesn't need to know that 😅

      I flew since the 80s. My first plane the Cox EzBee has great dihedral. Most planes with Dihedral were built for stability and beginners in mind.
      This plane is intermediate. The plane is streamlined and built for speed. Dihedral is great for slow fly and less stall window.
      And the plug in wing wiring is pretty standard now a days for these types of “drone” aircraft. They can be quickly take apart for transport. Less hanger rash. And the 9 pin attachment is really thick and will not come apart in flight. It’s a decade past the previous versions. It’s beefy. I personally hated the first ones I saw 5 years ago. They were thin and detached. This wing is also held by a lang carbon spar, and two large screw in bolts on the inside the fuselage. This wing is sturdy! Unlike my EzBee wing that snapped at 500ft. 😂 That .046 became a missile! 😂
      The future is good. Dive in my friend.
      Justin D.
      Ps. Yes that camera has EIS stability. Pretty amazing it looks like a motorized gimbal. It’s just taped on top! Insta360 makes really good cams.
