I remember having this recording many, many years ago. By far the most exciting rendition of this piece ever. I never liked Durufle's revision of the ending. He so often tinkered with things, they often lost their original spontaneity.
Is there no acoustic in this church? I'm accustomed cologne cathedral.... This sounds like in the crypt of cologne cathedral. 😄 Perhaps like St Lorenz in Nuremberg. Big Gothic church but so dry acoustics cause of it's acoustic absorbing stones.

Man, that's hell of an organ! Its been gutted from what I understand. too bad.
