    Believe it or not, smell is not yet fully understood but the most popular theory is the "lock and key" mechanism. Different odour molecules fit into different receptors when inhaled (based on shape) which, in turn, sends its own unique signal to the brain.
    There are alternative theories, I believe one has something to do with the molecules vibrating and the receptors detecting the frequencies similar to how the receptors in our ears detect sound waves. I believe that the lock and key concept has the most support though.

    0:58 Why IS it that toilet cisterns take so long to fill up? Surely modern technology could find a better solution. Only today it took me three attempts, spread over five minutes, to flush one of my "dead otters" away. Admittedly I'm on a high fibre diet, but even so ...

    Fun fact regardng your question about brown stains on the front of the underpants.
    Urine, piss, is a great invisible ink. It's just like lemon juice. You can write with it and when it get's warm it turns brown.
    If you're having an affair then it's not just meeting someone for one night. That's not an 'affair'. An affair is an ongoing thing.

    No, you're correct. That is how we smell. As strange as it sounds our nose directs the "smell" direct into our brain and it instantly knows what it is by the chemical ingredients...
    At school we had a lesson in chemistry. Using chemicals we could make a liquids that smelled of Banana and Strawberry and Curry.
    It's the same chemicals that go into your food.

    Our sense of smell works by the detection of odors. Olfactory epithelium located in the nose contains millions of chemical receptors that detect odors. When we sniff, chemicals in the air are dissolved in mucus. Odor receptor neurons in olfactory epithelium detect these odors and send the signals on to the olfactory bulbs. Air is sucked up into your nostrils over bony ridges called turbinates, which add more surface area to your sniffer. The air travels over millions of olfactory receptor neurons that sit on a stamp-size sheet, the olfactory epithelium, on the roof of the nasal cavity. Odor molecules in the air stimulate and inhibit the receptors

  • @MrPagan777

    Molecules of the smellee are floating in the air and you get them up your olfactory device (nose). That's why it's best to wait a while before you go into the bathroom after someone else has taken a poop.

    Your question about how long does it take for food to get from one end to the other? How long is a piece of string? It's different for everybody. Have you never heard of ppl talking about having a fast or slow metabolism? Well that's what they're talking about, how long their digestive system takes to process food. A wee test to check yours, bake a muffin/cake & put a load of blue food colouring in it. Take a note of the time you eat it, then check every number 2 you do since then, when you start pooing blue that's how long your digestive system takes.

    You did get the numbers, but not within the 30 seconds... No points to Connor... Especially no points for the following one, 3+4 = 7, x10 = 700? No, 7x10 is not 700. & I think you're missing what having an affair is, it's not a one off occasion with a stranger, that's just cheating. An affair is having another relationship with someone you know, behind your partners back.

  • @pv-mm2or
    @pv-mm2or Місяць тому

    Connor! a one night night stand is casual and spontaneous. an affair usually happens over some period of time and often requires secrecy and discretion, spontaneity is the downfall of discretion, and keeping secrete's need planning to succeed.

    Because of molecules we are connected to the outside world from our bodies. Like when you smell things, because when you smell a smell it's not really a smell, it's a part of the object that has come off of it, molecules. So when you smell something bad, it's like in a way you're eating it. This is why you should not really smell things, in the same way that you don't eat everything in the world around you because as a smell, it gets inside of you. So the next time you go into the bathroom after someone else has been there, remember what kinds of molecules you are in fact eating.
