Being an average NHL player isn’t an insult, these guys are all solid and have had all impactful seasons. The word “average” is more for the title and I hope you understand what I was going for in the video, I don’t mean to offend.
Those Armia shorthanded goals are crazy. There was a lot of hype around him in Finland before he was drafted. Never figured out why he didn't thrive as a top 6 forward as he seems to have great hands and shot
I think it's all about the mental aspect that he had trouble with. I mean with the Montreal media and just trouble believing in himself. I think I remember him mentioning that he received a lot of help this season from the new staff regarding that aspect and he's definitely improved accordingly. Don't take my word for it though I could be spreading misinformation, this is just off the top of my head and I ain't no psychologist
Armia has very underrated offensive skills. He lacked a lot on defensive side of the game so he had to play a lot in 3-4 lines, but someone forgot him there. Nowadays he is just not a top scoring prospect but a very solid two-way player who can play in any role. If he stays healthy, I am not surprised if he makes the Olympic roster.
So many Sabres players but no Ristolainen. I swear this guy would score like 4-6 goals per season but half of those would be absolute beauties and topped with some sick cellies as well.
What this video actually demonstrated, is the fact the media only hypes up plays that the star players makes. Look at the goal at 5:08 like litterly that goal is up there or if not better than any McDavid or Matthews goal I have ever seen. Yet never seen that goal before, getting so sick media bias. Most goals here are totally insane, yet not even in the top 5 goals of the season.
I wouldnt call chris drury an average player, but he had some of the sickest goals ive ever seen in the early 2000s. Based on his point totals then you wouldn't suspect it
Whenever Joel Armia's career is over, I want to know what percentage of his career goals were short-handed. Carey Price and the penalty kill carried the Habs to a cup final, and he was a huge part of that.
Andreas Anthinasiou (sorry if I spelt that wrong) also has an amazing highlight reel. It’s funny how these “average” players often have skills that are equivalent to the best players, but for some reason whether it be hockey IQ, mental awareness, bad luck, etc., don’t show it game in and game out like the Crosby’s and McDavid’s of the world. Even Wayne Gretzky acknowledged he was never the most skilled player in the NHL at any point in his career, but it was his mind that separated him from the rest.
Carter Hutton had one of those elite saves every season, otherwise he just a decent backup. But great commentator, hopefully the NHL hires him for broadcasts.
@@DeltaHighlights I mean even then a ton of people wash out of the NHL so even compared to everyone who’s played in the last 2 decades they’re probably still slightly above average
Hmmm is it weird that 80 percent of them were sabres and i grew up watching them :) and they srent average they were good they might not have had good stats but if you needed them they were always there

The audacity to call them average NHLers! Shame on you sir.
The avg nhler is still in the top 2% of.players in the world. That's being real conservative too.
@@travisa7025 Jesus loves everyone
Guys he said average NHLERS not average hockey players. He knows everyone in the nhl is incredibly skilled.
People always forget how all these guys are still the best hockey players in the world

The Habs and Sabres are in like 80% of these highlights lol
Tyler Ennis is literally unstoppable for no reason on the most random plays
Funny how the first guy plays for the jets, scores on Montréal, then the next highlight he’s playing for Montréal against the jets 😂
He was a canadien and was traded to the jets in a trade that sent this year's pick to the Canadiens I forget what was also in the deal
@@storm_drex492 yeah, just in order of highlights
18 year old Mario Armia will be anything but average once he enters his prime.
Jeff Petrymouse was pretty good too
I will never get tired of listening to RJ call hockey games. Great job man!
So many Sabres players but no Ristolainen. I swear this guy would score like 4-6 goals per season but half of those would be absolute beauties and topped with some sick cellies as well.
I see this as an alternate timeline. Like there's no McDavid's or Matthews and these are the guys we are watching make highlight reels.

I would also put Casey Desmith in here. He has the most highlight reel saves of any backup I have ever seen. It's absurd
Joel Armia 🔥
its pronounced yoel lol
That’s how his name is spelled…
@@Brooksie10 Yes sorry just the announcers saying it wrong is what i meant.
Underrated goal scorer
i TMed that name no one else can have it
Hutton made some pretty insane saves
thank you for not forgetting to mention Girgensons
Respect from Latvia🇱🇻
Goddamn Tyler ennis has some filthy hands

92 goals so far in NHL. 14 are shorthanded goals.
i watched that Panik goal at 3:40 live (on TV). Basement crew was going nuts

Mario Armia !!!!
The fact that hockie junkie is this popular still blows my mind
Ennis’ jumping backhand made me drop my phone and jaw. Damn dude just made of rubber.
Glad someone is giving Hutton’s saves some respect
Thanks for making me stop watching your old videos and now I can watch your new one!
Didn’t realize this was just a sabres compilation lmao
Tyler Motte had some nasty goals with the Canucks, would love to see him in a pt. 2
4:36
Jack Edwards: BENOIT POULIOT MERRY CHRISTMAS
Also Jack Edwards: Calls him a chump and a disappointment of talent for missing a hit
so many highly talented players who are sadly overlooked
Armia is a short handed magician oh my god
Carter Hutton had one of those elite saves every season, otherwise he just a decent backup. But great commentator, hopefully the NHL hires him for broadcasts.
This is awesome
Surprised that Athanasiou wasn’t included
I debated on it, but the 30 goal season stopped me
@@DeltaHighlights yeah makes sense ig
As a jets fan armia scored some crazy goals for the jets in the short time he was there
Zemgus Girgensons is my favorite NHL name at the moment. Maybe only second all time to Radek Bonk.
joel armia with the magic mitts 🪄
Holy shit Panik's goals were all absolute zingers.
Pouliot played on a different team in every highlight XD
should do an "average players" outplaying super stars video
Tyler Ennis has some of the nastiest hands I’ve ever seen
Who is this Joel you are talking about that dude with 40 on his back is clearly young up and coming star Mario Armia
Honest mistake
This video is like a 2012 throwback lol
Ennis' one at 6:06 was the best of them all
I dunno if you would consider Ales Hemsky 'average' but he certainly has his fair share of spectacular highlights
Basically every guy GMs have on a trade board in their office, hoping they can steal them.
Honestly, when Armia really wants to, his play is probably one the smoothest in the league
ZEMGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A CROWD FAVOURITE
I just knew Armia would be in this video 😂
price is in about 50% of the goals against
PART 2 NOW
Basically hidden Gems in the NHL
This guy's got eyes, and no, I'm not talking about the players, I'm talking about Delta
I grow up watching Benoit Pouillot! He was very good
Mario Armia is no average NHLer
0:50 RIP
PLEASE part two, fnatastic vid idea
Yay
Pouliot and hutton highlights were the only reason they came to buffalo to die
there is one dude I would definitely put on this list. Alexandre Texier.
That's Mario Armia.
If Joel Armia only played on the PK he'd have the best goals/60 in the league.
Thank you!
No, thank you my good sir!
1:10 he switched teams
slay
man they all played in buffalo lmao
Tyler ennis was actually really good but was always injured
Mike Smith has a crazy highlight reel, but i don't think his would fit in with the others here. Not the reel you want people to see lol.
I was thinking of doing one with underrated players instead, I could definitely include him there for you!
Mike Smith was anything but average in his career. I mean he was either standing on his head or straight up garbage from game to game.
@@romaliop i was talking more about his empty net non goal and his save of his own one timer lol
Mario Armia Average nahhhhh
Joel armia is a 3rd like dawg
It's almost like there's a reason they make millions playing in a league that every hockey player is trying to get into
Shouldve put Paul Cotter!!!
Sean Kuraly
You're missing Zegras
People would destroy me if I included him lol
thats 18 year old habs prospect Mario Armia not Joel
Athanasiou should be on here
This list is missing paul cotter
I’m pretty sure if you’re in the NHL you’re at least slightly above average
I’m only comparing them to other NHLers, not all hockey players
@@DeltaHighlights I mean even then a ton of people wash out of the NHL so even compared to everyone who’s played in the last 2 decades they’re probably still slightly above average

2:34 man those jerseys are absolutely amazing
Richard Panik, I apologize, I wasn’t familiar with your game
Panik us easily an above average player
1:18 is not a crazy highlight, dahls makes these turnovers nearly every game
im sorry, you dont get to be average being named Zemgus.
imagine becoming a pro hockey player and some random youtuber who couldn't compete in a beer leauge calls you average. 💀
What’s wrong with being an average NHL player? These guys aren’t superstars, but really solid players.
There's a difference between "average nhl player" and just "average".
That’s not what’s going on here bro how dumb are you
