I saw so many loaders on You Tube, but this is very good system, I like it. I have sismilar kayak and its not good for back bone lbothering with heavy wight... Briliant and if You made it on Your own my respect....
Another great kayak load assist idea. However, I cannot help but to notice that your kayak is indented where your saddles/wings hold the kayak on the crossbars.
it looks like the wheels would assist more if they were located closer to the bend in the frame. As it is they don't make much contact at all with the kayak. good start though. ;)
the video is very impressive are you willing to share some of the details about where you got the mechanism you use to roll the kayak on and off your car and do you think this would work with an ordinary saloon type car- mine is a volvo S60. this is the first year I will not be able to lift the kayak myself so I am desperate for some way to do this. I cannot imagine life without kayaking. all help gratefully received. thanks
So basically you could do without the entire rear wheeled piece completely, if you just set the back of the kayak down before you pulled it out that far. It doesn't even touch that when you're loading/unloading the boat.

Hello vagotur, . I have two hobie kayaks (outback and angler). The angler is bigger, heavier and awkard. I can get it onto my 4WD or camper but it's a pain. I'm not 30, or 40 - I'm 65 and both my shoulder rotator cuffs are buggered from work. I've just scaled back to part time work after 13 years of 60 hr weeks. I am not going to get my butt into a nursing home. With luck, I'll die on the water. Please enjoy your steroid injections - they seem to be having the desired effect.

I suggest a gym matt under the rudder end of kayak as it will minimise wear and tear on the tail end of kayak
nice design! VAGotur really good advice. Once it gets difficult to load the kayak just give up on life.

@misnomerjones It is a lightweight aluminium frame that I designed and built to assist me in loading a kayak onto a car.
