This, alongside Marvel vs Capcom 2 were the only Dreamcast games I ever bought (and played on a friend's Dreamcast to boot). I really love the spirit of exploration, the expressive characters, the music, and the ship combat. If I were to draw modern comparisons, I would say Skyward Sword meets One Piece. The next few RECAPs are going to be mixed up a bit, as my Final Fantasy 9 video was pulled due to a content claim ID I lost, so I will be uploading an updated video with a re-recorded script and better footage first before continuing on my normal schedule. Jesus F Christ you missed out on some All time great games if those are the only Dreamcast titles you played! Dreamcast library was a perfect example of Quality > Quantity !
It's their own fault. People do appreciate it, and would love to buy it, which is why the used price on ebay has driven up to $100. Blame themselves for not making more copies of it.
I cannot stress how much this game nails the sense of adventure and braving the unknown. The Dark Rift as a kid was absolutely terrifying, Yatofuma was completely different and the Asian theme was so well executed. In fact EVERY region has its own unique scenery, architecture and even music themes that fit the location. One of the best JRPG's from the Golden Age. In my top 3 of all time alongside Grandia and Dragon Quest 8.
Personally don't think its better than Skies of Arcadia, Grandia, or Dragon Quest 8 but you can definitely make the argument. Frog is in my top 5 favorite JRPG side characters though, almost every moment with him is top notch.

This game is criminally underrated, I played this game back in 2003 and I will never forget how epic the game was, it’s possibly my favourite story to date. I remember running through the tunnels in the empire city, in fact, I remember that being a major turning point for me in how I see JRPGs now.

I wanted this game so badly after playing one of the demos that came with DC magazine. I couldn't buy it and my brother wouldn't... I remember writing a bad fanfic rip off about these characters when I was in the 6th grade. I finally got it years later on the gamecube as a bday gift. It's so underrated.

I will always, _always_ have an abiding love for this game, it deserves more love and recognition! This game, at the least needs an expanded HD re-release or soft reboot for current and/or next gen consoles. The younger generation is truly missing out on this gem of a game, plus those of us who remember playing either of the original versions will get a blast of nostalgia and appreciation.

This is 1 of my favorite rpg style game out there. It had so much cheractor, the different lands had it's own unique look to it and a great music score to match. And you can taylor how you want your ship stats by who you have on your ship. It has all the things that make a story great, humor, suspence, tragety and triumph,and a great sence of exploration. And for me there was never a slow or dull moment in the game. And if you choose to level grind it isn't tedious because the battles are fun. Boss battles and ship battles keep you on your toes and you have to really think ahead or else you will leave yourself open for a devastating attack. It's a shame there wasn't a series made from this game or at least a remake for the ps4.

This is still literally in the top five best stories I have ever encountered in my life. The premise, the atmosphere, the concept at large... it truly has become the standard by which I measure the creative height of a movie or video game. Probably wishful thinking, but a reboot or even a movie rendition would be so wonderful. Imagine if Studio Ghibli teamed up with DreamWorks to produce something like that 😍

Such a fantastic game. I loved the level of linear gameplay that still allows for exploration but keeps you on track. Characters were great and the story too. Definitely need to replay :)

Thanks for all the work you put into these videos! Sometimes I get a little lost halfway through these games or miss a few lines of dialogue, and your videos are the perfect way to remember the reasons why I'm doing what I'm doing. SoA has the coolest story I have still ever seen. The first arc starts off humble with you doing a little fetch quest to introduce the world followed up by an intense story arc where your learn about, infiltrate, fight and escape the baddest military empire in the game world. The game just constantly makes you feel cool as hell.
I still have my Dreamcast and GameCube copies of this game. I had a save where i really far into this game and erased it by mistake years ago on the Dreamcast. Man I know we all wish we could just go back to these times just for a few days and relive these days. I really wish something would give, damn i hate getting older lol. Such a awesome Gem and it sucks it wasnt a known game.

Legendary Phantasy Star creator and contributor Rieko Kodama worked on this to! One of her finest works, she is absolutely one of the unsung heroes in the gaming industry, especially as a woman in the gaming industry. She's still here to, working on a lot of Sega projects. She's actually said she had a script ready for Phantasy Star 5 so just y'know...GIVE HER A TEAM SEGA! Skies of Arcadia is such a cool game, wish Sega would just release it on modern platforms.

Man I swore by this game back in the day. I tried to get so many of my friends to play it. It was such a great game, all the lore and world building was crazy! I wish they would remake this in modern form.

Hands down, the single best game in the Dreamcast's library, as well as one of the best on GameCube. I absolutely LOVED this game. It's in my personal Top 10 of all time. It remains the most unique RPG I have ever played, and it just oozes charm. Plus, I think I may be a bit biased as I was serving in the Navy and playing it daily in the barracks when it was re-released. It boggles my mind that this game only got 300k sales. That number is the reason we never got a sequel. If ever there were a situation where someone should ask the use the IP like that indie crew did with Sonic Mania, this is it.

Still the greatest game ever made, at least to me. It has creatively inspired me for two decades now and I can't think of anything else that has come close to that. The Destruction of Valua still hits me in the feels when Enrique wakes to find it gone.

Seriously, lads. This is the one of the best JRPGs ever. Right up there with Dragon Quest 8, Final Fantasy 9, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star 4, persona 5, Secret of mana, Xenoblade Chronicles, Paper Mario series (yes I even like some of the hated ones so come at me u hoes). The Gamecube port is often viewed as the complete version of the game. Reason being they added more to the story (Specifically the Moonfish collecting and Piastol's repeat appearances).

In 2006 I picked up two games about adventure and sky pirates: the newly released Final Fantasy XII, and this Gamecube port of a Dreamcast RPG I never even heard of. In my opinion Skies of Arcadia far surpassed FF12, it actually utilized the settings of Sky Pirates gave a satisfying adventure across the length and breadth of its vast world.

Sadly I sold my copy as a kid after my brothers and I beat the game but it was one of the few ways I could get new games. Few years after selling it saw it at gamestop for 8$ but didn't pick it up, really wish I did but I had my journey and hope the person who did buy it enjoyed it as much as I did
This is one of my favorite RPGs. I wish they would remaster it, only not as a button masher. I also hate that Piastol didn't join your group as a hidden character. Seems like a missed opportunity.

This game is the absolute definition of a cult classic. I adore this game. Borrowed from a friend in high school, loved it so much I had have my own copy. I am so sad that it did not sell better. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

This, alongside Marvel vs Capcom 2 were the only Dreamcast games I ever bought (and played on a friend's Dreamcast to boot). I really love the spirit of exploration, the expressive characters, the music, and the ship combat. If I were to draw modern comparisons, I would say Skyward Sword meets One Piece.

I cannot stress how much this game nails the sense of adventure and braving the unknown. The Dark Rift as a kid was absolutely terrifying, Yatofuma was completely different and the Asian theme was so well executed. In fact EVERY region has its own unique scenery, architecture and even music themes that fit the location.
One of the best JRPG's from the Golden Age. In my top 3 of all time alongside Grandia and Dragon Quest 8.

This game is criminally underrated, I played this game back in 2003 and I will never forget how epic the game was, it’s possibly my favourite story to date. I remember running through the tunnels in the empire city, in fact, I remember that being a major turning point for me in how I see JRPGs now.

I wanted this game so badly after playing one of the demos that came with DC magazine. I couldn't buy it and my brother wouldn't... I remember writing a bad fanfic rip off about these characters when I was in the 6th grade.

Its been a while since you uploaded a video, this is a godsend I've all your RECAPITATION videos
This is 1 of my favorite rpg style game out there. It had so much cheractor, the different lands had it's own unique look to it and a great music score to match. And you can taylor how you want your ship stats by who you have on your ship. It has all the things that make a story great, humor, suspence, tragety and triumph,and a great sence of exploration. And for me there was never a slow or dull moment in the game. And if you choose to level grind it isn't tedious because the battles are fun. Boss battles and ship battles keep you on your toes and you have to really think ahead or else you will leave yourself open for a devastating attack. It's a shame there wasn't a series made from this game or at least a remake for the ps4.

This is still literally in the top five best stories I have ever encountered in my life. The premise, the atmosphere, the concept at large... it truly has become the standard by which I measure the creative height of a movie or video game. Probably wishful thinking, but a reboot or even a movie rendition would be so wonderful. Imagine if Studio Ghibli teamed up with DreamWorks to produce something like that 😍

Sometimes I get a little lost halfway through these games or miss a few lines of dialogue, and your videos are the perfect way to remember the reasons why I'm doing what I'm doing. SoA has the coolest story I have still ever seen. The first arc starts off humble with you doing a little fetch quest to introduce the world followed up by an intense story arc where your learn about, infiltrate, fight and escape the baddest military empire in the game world. The game just constantly makes you feel cool as hell.

One of her finest works, she is absolutely one of the unsung heroes in the gaming industry, especially as a woman in the gaming industry. She's still here to, working on a lot of Sega projects. She's actually said she had a script ready for Phantasy Star 5 so just y'know...GIVE HER A TEAM SEGA!

Man I swore by this game back in the day. I tried to get so many of my friends to play it. It was such a great game, all the lore and world building was crazy! I wish they would remake this in modern form.

This game deserves 3 million sales.
Hands down, the single best game in the Dreamcast's library, as well as one of the best on GameCube. I absolutely LOVED this game. It's in my personal Top 10 of all time. It remains the most unique RPG I have ever played, and it just oozes charm. Plus, I think I may be a bit biased as I was serving in the Navy and playing it daily in the barracks when it was re-released.
It boggles my mind that this game only got 300k sales. That number is the reason we never got a sequel. If ever there were a situation where someone should ask the use the IP like that indie crew did with Sonic Mania, this is it.

Dah fuk!?! This is one of the best JRPGs ever and keep in mind im not easily impressed by JRPGs but I feel super lucky to own this game on my gamecube.
Seriously, lads. This is the one of the best JRPGs ever. Right up there with Dragon Quest 8, Final Fantasy 9, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star 4, persona 5, Secret of mana, Xenoblade Chronicles, Paper Mario series (yes I even like some of the hated ones so come at me u hoes).

Such a dang shame this never got a sequel
In 2006 I picked up two games about adventure and sky pirates: the newly released Final Fantasy XII, and this Gamecube port of a Dreamcast RPG I never even heard of. In my opinion Skies of Arcadia far surpassed FF12, it actually utilized the settings of Sky Pirates gave a satisfying adventure across the length and breadth of its vast world.

Sadly I sold my copy as a kid after my brothers and I beat the game but it was one of the few ways I could get new games. Few years after selling it saw it at gamestop for 8$ but didn't pick it up, really wish I did but I had my journey and hope the person who did buy it enjoyed it as much as I did
