    I always put the salt on first, then a good amount of powdered black pepper followed by olive oil and gently work it in with the fingertips. Leave that to soak in for an hour or so and then onto the GFG until MR. Each to their own.

    I don't like food snobs... If that is the way the man likes his steak let him enjoy it!

      Ehh, he does a lot of things that can only make the steak worse. Also I have no idea why people insist on washing meat. It is totally unsanitary. Especially with chicken or pork.
      He is telling people to do things with their food which are known cause illness. He should not spread dangerous misinformation.

    • @mountainmover777

      @@sethborne How is running water over any meat to wash it "unsanitary"?

    • @sethborne
      @sethborne 2 роки тому

      @@mountainmover777 in the home kitchen setting: you are incorporating the bacteria present on the meat into the water.
      It is a massive cross-contamination risk.
      To quote a reputable source (Google it to find the article):
      "It is never a good idea to wash meats and poultry. Regardless of whether it takes place before cooking, freezing, or marinating, washing can lead to cross-contamination. Cross-contamination is when bacteria spread from the meat to other areas, such as the hands and kitchen surfaces."
      Furthermore, the act of washing the meat does nothing to "clean" it. All you are doing is removing lymph and myoglobin. Washing meat with water is literally caveman thinking.
      Excess moisture also inhibits the mallard reaction (which creates browning/q crispy exterior). By washing meat youre introducing unnecessary water back into the fibers of the meat.
      Cooking is what kills the dangerous pathogens. Washing it before had does nothing but warm the meat up and increase the replication rate of the extant bacteria.

    • @mountainmover777
      @mountainmover777 2 роки тому +3

      @@sethborne You're worried about contaminating the water run off? I wash my meat off into the sink. I'm not really worried about the contamination of my sink and water pipes.. I know how to wash my hands as well. Running a little water over the surface of a steak is not going to infuse it with water. The water is dried off before the meat is prepared in most cases so not sure why you're bringing up "the mallard reaction". I'm not a fan of dye juices so I'll keep on keeping on like we as humans have for thousands of years. Your arguments seem fairly weak, and not at all the norm. I think it's you that needs to quit spreading misinformation.

    • @sethborne
      @sethborne 2 роки тому

      @@mountainmover777 no.. you are entirely missing the point. A single splash onto a counter, or any part of the sink, could lead to Ecoli, c-dif, or a number of other deadly infections. You washing the meat does nothing of benefit at all. I cited a scholarly source and you're clinging to what your substandard p.o.s. grandma did.
      I'd love to hear your explaination of the benefits. You clown.
      Washing meat adds moisture period. It doesn't matter how little it is. It is unsanitary and you're a dumbass for thinking otherwise.
      My arguments are supported by medical science and colloqualism. I hope you educate yourself in the future.

    I love to cook, but these grills are just great! Fast, easy, does the steak as well as a pan in half the time, seriously I will never look back. Sometimes I use it just for the veggies while I do the meat depending on the size of the meal.
    I do wonder about the american diet though, the size of that steak is insane, even for 2 people.

    • @dannyboswell7188
      @dannyboswell7188 2 роки тому

      My diet is fucked up then. I often fry or grill me about two steaks like that every night with no sides tho. Sides in my opinion are just fillers. I want the main course. Work too hard to put up with bs like sides to my juicy steak. And yea I’m being humorous but I’m dead ass serious. That slab of meat he grilled. I double that just delete the sides. Nightly. N no I’m not obese. I’m 180 pounds and I work it off daily. Feel terrific btw. I see a vegan n I think about if we were alone I’d eat that bitch too with enough seasoning

    cook your steak from room temperature, unless its poor quality meat you should use just cracked pepper and salt to bring out the great beef flavor. You also should learn to lightly touch the meat to determine how well it has been done-with out cutting into it-because all the internal juice runs out. Let the meat stand for at least 5 minutes before ever cutting into it. Buy a metal thermometer if you really need to make sure it is done at a certain temperature. They are usually only a couple bucks!
