Oh my, I cannot believe you have a day job and still maintain this amazing channel. You are amazing my friend. One of my first makeup purchases was a Nars duo in Bellissima over 15 years ago and that was such a flaky glitter disaster. I've been pleasantly surprised that the formula is much nicer now. x

How interesting! Would love more of the "history" aspect included when you have tidbits to share. Would love to hear more about your job and what it entails. Is it something you always wanted to do or did you fall into it and love after you were in it? How did you get your start? I have so many questions, lol. Also....can we all agree vulgar names on products really just needs to stop? I'm not a prude by any stretch of the word, but I personally tend to automatically bypass those products no matter how high quality they may be because it just comes across as 12 year olds must be on their developing/marketing team. Don't get me wrong, I still have the humor of a 15 year old boy at times, but I just don't need it on my products.

@@tinac273 Hello Tina! Yes. Climax is fall but there's still more around the corner. It gets so confusing since fall is released in summer and then, basically, winter is released in fall, etc. I suppose next would be holiday but will release in fall. 🥰

It was great hearing the history of Nars🙌🤩! Thanks Rebecca! Nars has always appealed to me, even though I’m not a palette girl (I’m all for the ”singles”)😄. I like their packaging and the way they present and market their products. But the names - OMG😂!
Hello Linda! Yes, the NAMES and now I have to say them out loud. EEK!!! Hahaha. It's so mortifying, as you can imagine. I try to just say them quickly. hahaha. So not me. But we all just love Nars regardless. I LOVE that you love singles. That makes you a TRUE makeup lover, you know? It's like chocolate. I love milk chocolate but I am told that the TRUE chocolate lover likes the dark chocolate. Same with makeup. When you make your OWN palettes, you really have an affinity for eyeshadow!

The Nars Skin Deep Palette is still my all time favourite palette because of how easy it is to use to pull together a stunning look for day or night. It is truly the perfect palette for anyone with brown skin.

Love the format of this video. The new O on the beach is so nice I never liked the o blush but the one in this palette is a different formula and more pink which works better for me. The uninhibited collection looks really good too. The inclusion of brand history is very interesting

Nars Loaded eyeshadow palette. Great neutrals. Love the burnt terracotta shades there (1 matte and 1 shimmer). For some reason, I can’t find a good dupe in my other palette. The undertone is quite unique.

The Climax palette has such a beautiful color story. It is perfect for Autumn/Winter, and incredibly unique for the NARS brand. Since, I have noticed Francois Nars prefers more of a 70s/sunset vibe. Unfortunately, my sisters and I tend to be allergic to something in NARS products. However, that does not prevent me from appreciating just how beautiful the brand is. Francois Nars truly is/was a revolutionary makeup artist. Without him, we would never have gotten more celebrity makeup artist lines. Though, I do blame him for brands like Too Faced thinking, it is acceptable to use double entendres for makeup marked towards teenagers. At least, NARS is a brand marketed towards adults. Plus, it is also nice to see that Francois Nars maintained creative control over his brand. As Bobbi Brown, infamously, has nothing to do with her namesake brand.
LOVE this comment and I have so so much to say! You are absolutely correct that, unfortunately, Nars started a trend with other brands coming up with off color names for their products. Now it's commonplace and embarrassing. AGREED. Also, yes, exactly, you are correct yet again. Nars started the celebrity makeup artist trend. Bobbi Brown. It's such a shame, isn't it? Have you tried her new line, Jones Road? It's SO Bobbi Brown in its simplicity and style.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty - I have not tried the Jones Road brand. While, its simplicity is very much in line with Bobbi Brown’s aesthetic. Something about the line reminds me way too much of Glossier. Which at the end of the day, is not how I like to do my makeup. I am a winged liner and bold lipstick type of girl. Though, I have been loving cream blush lately, for everyday makeup.
@@ChienaAvtzon I totally understand that reasoning. I’m not a Glossier fan myself. I like some of the Jones Road but I find it strange that it’s THAT pared down and so hard to buy! Almost like Ms Brown is reluctant to be in the spotlight again.

Thank you for delving into the history of Nars. Nordstrom had a face palette called Claudette this spring. Pretty. Warm. Tempered by the Climax shadows. How do they compare to Huda Jaguar?
I love the Claudette. Speaking of history, that collection was named after Nars' mother, Claudette. I can't stop myself. Haha. Climax and Jaguar are VERY similar. Huda is cheaper, throw away fast fashion makeup. The Nars is more substantial keep for a long time stuff, if that makes sense. 🥰

I love your videos, they're so thorough! When you were talking about the company history & the products names I had to laugh. I happened to be browsing the site & checking out some of the items during a sale. I wasn't sure if it was a palette but it turned out to be a book which is his photography. If you think saying the shade names may not always be family friendly the books would require black censor blocks! 🤣🙀
I prefer to stay out the the artist's mind & stay with the foundation and other products that work for me. 😏
I find myself always pulling for original orgasm & many times Laguna as a contour since its light enough to work.
I love CT for shadows & I can't live without the pop for a perfect finish! I love the scent of her lipsticks too.

I have great admiration for photography, especially composition and the balancing of lightness and darkness. I also didn’t know he sold to Shiseido. So did Leslie from bareMinerals. I guess Shiseido will rule the world pretty soon, if it isn’t already. Is that why the brand lost its cruelty-free status?? As a result of the sale?? Well, when that happened, I was angry about it, but I respect the fact that they were honest and told the public (as opposed to WetNWild, who lied about being cruelty-free). Anyway, I enjoyed the video very much. These products are SOOOOOO gorgeous. The whole brand is super beautiful. The packaging is to die for. I am getting that latest palette for sure (the C one). Ok. It was not a test. I PROMISE it was not a test. But, as I placed the piggy, I thought, "I bet BB sees him!!!!" Again, if you hadn't, I would not have been upset. I believe that Nars had to because of Shiseido BUT they never came out and said that. I keep thinking that HAS to be the case, though, right? And, yes, at least they were honest. It's SUCH craziness. All those people in China and brands can't sell there unless they give up that status. Wow. What insanity. Thank you for telling me!!! Well, I used to follow a few channels that were (are) exclusively cruelty-free and took it very seriously (research, talking directly with brands, etc.) That’s where I learned NARS announced they were going to start selling in China. Once you say that, you don’t really have to come out and say anything else. It means you will no longer be a cruelty-free brand. On the other hand, if you pull out of the Chinese market (like Philosophy did), you will probably make a big announcement that you are now cruelty-free. It is something to be proud of in today’s world. Too complicated to discuss here, and this is a mess. Where exactly people draw the boundaries have to do with personal beliefs. Messy messy. Example: a person could say they only purchase cruelty-free brands, but the parent company doesn’t have to be, whereas another person could call the first person insane for thinking it’s all good to accept the status of the parent company. It can get exhausting. Yes, it’s craziness. I also learned WetNWild literally got caught selling in China when they advertised themselves as a totally cruelty-free brand. That’s impossible: to sell in that country means, BY DEFINITION, you are not cruelty-free. Anyway, I admire NARS minus this aspect. They top themselves with every launch. Whoever designs the packaging deserves an award. The names, well, yes… but I totally agree with you that the O word has become synonymous with the brand. It’s an iconic color with an iconic name in NARS territory. You can try to dupe it by buying, let’s say, Milani’s Luminoso blush-but it won’t be the same. They definitely have a star product in the O franchise!!! 😻🥰🐷💖

With cruelty free, it’s such a shame. It’s 2021. We’re experimenting on animals?! And yet I get the debate. It’s capitalism and China is a huge, wealthy market. We can’t solve it, I suppose. This new red Climax palette is really on my things to buy list! I saw it already at the Belgian Nars website, it's not yet in The Netherlands. With my red undertones, i only use very light blush shades, so not such a blush type of person, but...there is always the eyeshadow addiciton! I don't have so much eyeshadow from Nars, but still love my Skin Deep palette and from the newer collection, the Uninhibited palette you showed! Still have some old duo eyeshadows, like Alhambra, Isolde the most i think when i want it very very easy, a bit bronzer in the crease, a bit eyeliner, finished👍 But thanks for this beautiful video, i'll go after that new Climax palette this is really my colour story!!!!! The O word, yes, i had a palette with that word, bought in Greece over 2 years ago🤣🤣🤣🤣, that was a super sticky mess, goodness, it was a sort of all inclusive, face and eye palette with terrible bad cream texture....it did not take long before i decluttered that, but mostly Nars really makes quite good eyeshadows!!! Yes, and Charlotte has the Pillow Talk word, and loves that for repetition, repetition, and repetition, Pat has now the roses, and the Divine Roses, and has embraced herself with roses, she is holding them close! Well i can give her roses we have an idiot, but very nice amount of flowers here as you know. But you gave me a great idea to take another look in my idiot eyeshadow collection for the good lightweight stuff!!! They only watch crime when i am in the shower, where i am much longer then they are, i hate crime television, i tried to like it, but i just want to be entertained, watching Outlander was already on the edge for me with some scary scenes, but i love stuff that comes from history, all the costumes, the romance, beautiful Scotland, but it has to have a story, when it has no story i dont want to watch. And i want to laugh! For instance Lucky TV (on the internet) also, when our king Willem Alexander and queen Maxima are being imitated with a terrible Den Haag (Hague) accent, you understand Dutch, sometimes its a little bit over the edge but mostly fun to watch Rebecca! It's so down to earth here, it seems that Willem Alexander watches them himself! I wasn’t “allowed” to watch Outlander. My husband is Scottish and he can’t stand that show. I thought it was great fun but he was disgusted and it ruined it for me. Haha. I’m not a fan of crime shows either!!! I agree with you. You and I obviously have good taste! Haha. 💕

Hey Tina....oh you hit on something I've been secretly wondering about. I do reviews early so I missed out on that one BUT BUT BUT BUT...I always have this inner debate. I don't tend to review Too Faced as a brand but I ADORE the Born This Way palette and so many of their products. So I think this was one I might just have to pick up, even though I'm late to the party!

I love me some Nars!!!!! Nars is that brand that exudes sensuality, art, and makes me wanna play any album by Enigma or Massive attack while getting ready. My favorite palette is the afterglow eyeshadow palette. This brand is my baby!!!!!

I went crazy and damn near got everything from the brand and wished that I’ve done it sooner. But the brand has been very inspiring and tickled the artistic side of my brain.

Hello Sandra! I have heard of Mecca. But the situation never sounds promising. Both my Canadian and Australian viewers have SUCH trouble getting makeup. Funnily enough, Jade, a member of our community here, is in Australia and she says there actually ARE services you can go through to get makeup but it's costly and she feels it can be risky. I bet she's right. It's sure tempting though!
