Your friend Bill the conductor is living a dream ! He sure does look the part of past generations when Railroad men dressed with dignity out of respect for their profession. I'm proud of him.
Fascinating! Love the creek shots! Thank you. I saw an interesting old photo of Schuyler Street last week. It was maybe 70s or 80s era showing passengers boarding the train in the middle of the street in Utica as if it was a bus. It was a southbound passenger excursion and freight dropoff combo-run kind of like this Adirondack northbound Cabin Fever excursion.
I was on one of those trains. We boarded at the brewery, went to Cortland and back. My mom came along. Big delay on return: some kids set a few bridge timbers on fire. We had to wait a few hours before proceeding. Got back to Utica close to midnight
Loved the video. Liked the dress and attitude of the conductor, too, he was very nice. Good view of the train coupling! You know a lot of these guys!😊 Glad you can still trek to the spots. The waterfall and footbridge shot was nice at the end. You and Witold watch the weather and please stay well! Watching from Rome, NY.
There's just something about Witold. Even finicky on a dog treat good Lord! He's so quiet and non-movable I would probably wind up leaving him behind Trackside not noticing until I got back. That area just looks like it has those sudden temperature inversions and sudden wins and suddenly the season changes again. Tomorrow just mid 30s for Saint Pat's Day when all the drunks rollout it's time to hunker down and watch tapes
When I was growing up, say, 1 year to 17 years, now 75, we use to Tent Camp at Floodwood Pond where the Railroad Guard had a shack which served as his home and he sold Worms, other Bait and Ice Cream to the summer people. We would see the Train coming and going... Glad to see it running again... My little Brother and I would collect spilled Coal from along the Tracks to fuel our Campfire..
My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚊🚝🚞🚋 they are one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎. He would also like to know what kind of dog 🐕 you have.
Witold (vee-told) is a curly-coated retriever, an old English breed. He's 10 and was born in Granite Bay, California.. I wanted an unusual name. I read it's German for something like "rules the woods." It's also a common first name in Eastern Europe.
Looked like quite the ordeal to get the engine attached... Loved the waterfall shot at the end !!
from rochester ny here
Great video ! The spot where you are at the start of the video, isn't that called Owen Rd, that's off of Taylor Rd ?
Yes, it's Owen Rd but I didn't recall the name while narrating. The crossing is a couple hundred feet or so off Taylor.
@@railroadingrambler218 That's it. That's a nice wooded area all through there and a great spot to be.
Hello, to you & Witold 👍Brrrrr, looks cold & can hear the wind. Be safe & you both stay warm.
Brrr…Greetings from Tonawanda NY, with winter, spring changing frequently. Nice video.

Hi, looking in from North Yorkshire, England.
Your friend Bill the conductor is living a dream ! He sure does look the part of past generations when Railroad men dressed with dignity out of respect for their profession. I'm proud of him.
Bill is a retired railroader. We went to school together "back in the day" (way back in the day, lol)
Very dapper!
Great to see you out there!
Good seeing you as well!

Wow! That shot with the waterfall and the train is one for a calendar. Very enjoyable.
I second that, it sure was pretty!

Witold’s a good boy; knows how to play it cool when treats are present.
I miss that locomotive. I helped to paint the green on it, and worked on its brakes when it was living at the NYSW Tech Society in NJ.
Good video and narration! Love the zebra unit too
Good job ahead of snowstorm, we’re mowing grass in N.C
Very nicely filmed. This clutch is interesting.🎥👍👍👍🍀😍
Thank you for this video. Really enjoy seeing the Adirondack Train moving along. 🙂
Fantastic! Thanks for your insights.
Coupler drama! Good vid. From Lockport, NY.
Thanks for breaking up the winter routine with a nice train video. The end shot of the waterfall was beautiful. Good to see Witold doing well.
