Nice find. Noticed at 12:35, looks like one of the wires has come out of the temp sensor, above the radiator hose. Haven’t made it to the end of the video yet, but thought I would I would point it out. Looking forward to seeing your future projects. Keep up the good work.
thanks for the tip, Ill check later but the temp guage is working as it should, also now after a few weeks of sitting it fired right up. I may stick it an an extra small boat trailer for the mobility.
What makes these desirable vs a new $1100 5kv invertor generator from harbor freight ? With invertor fuel cost is lower. New vs used. Light vs heavy. Assume there is some reason people want them....
Theyre pure sine wave, its interesting how many people have electronics not working after running a cheap generator. the diesel engine is also better at sitting for long periods of time. Also, theyre pretty cool! this could be a fun video
Another thing to remember with these military units, they’re rated for long running times at full power (prime rated generator.) Between being prime rated and (typically) having an insane service life, that’s why they’re sought after.
They are diesel for one. Two, the produce a lot cleaner power and last much longer at 1800rpm versus the HF running at 3600rpm to produce the same power.
The generator he is talking about from Harbor freight is a pure sinewave inverter generator. It throttles up and down, depending on the load it does not run at 3600 RPMs constantly.

@@jrobmccoy Makes sense. I hadn't realized how much difference there was in power ratings between prime (10% over for an hour) and standby.
