It was amazing, cocktail kit in full effect and I thought the acoustic set at the MEN was immense. I'm rocking the octopus sticker i managed to catch on my guitar!
THIS IS SOO AMAZING... I MET MARK AND TOM THE FIRST SHOW IN NEW JERSEY AND I WISH I GOT TO SEE THIS.. BLINK IS GOING TO BE BIGGER THEN BEFORE I THINK. THE NEXT RECORD IS GOING TO BLOW THE FU CK UP. THEY ARE ON TO SOMETHING HERE
Mark got jealous because Tom & Travis did the boxcar racer side project, thought they were gonna kick him out of Blink. He started checking Toms messages and turning up at the studio unexpectedly, Tom grew weary of Marks behaviour and confronted him about it, they decided they needed a break. They had a break and got back together after Travis's accident but it just didn't feel right, they'd grown apart. They argued and split once more, for good.
And then let's fast forward many years later.... Tom releases "Dream Walker" during Dec. 2014 which was his best album since the "Untitled" album and Mark gets mad again and Tom is out Jan 2015.
Tom actually started taking singing lessons between Untitled and the first AVA record. He actually sings pretty well live (not perfect though) with AVA, but I read somewhere that he sings poorly with blink-182 on purpose because everyone kind of expects him to/for nostalgia.
@@ohalistair gtfo lol. I just think like anyone that isn’t born with some freak-easy singing ability he has his good and bad days. He got famous not needing to or knowing how to sing traditionally. Singing for the average mortal is varied by your mood, energy, the day...singing bad on purpose for nostalgia because it’s expected...LOL
@@dukes-1826 this makes sense to me. I noticed he sings a lot better when they play small clubs. I imagine he can hear a bit better in those situations. I know he also just got nasal and ear surgery to fix what he said was a deviated septum and his ears always popping. All I know is, if you look at the AVA live performances from right before the pandemic he was killing it. Hope his shows coming up soon are even better!
Cheshire Cat and dude ranch are popular :/. Dude ranch is actually probably the most main stream blink because Josie and dammit are still played on the radio to this day.
***** The worst part is the... I was following these shows via youtube, you know, since years ago, and I see them get better and better, I even started to think "Fuck, they see so happy playing together, like old times, the new album maybe will be better"... it hurts I was so wrong :(
Definitely. They have an acoustic album, but it's unofficial. Someone recorded the acoustic music and just placed the singing tracks over it. But they need to actually make one.
of all of Tom's many great riffs, _Wasting Time_ has always been my favorite. it also happens to be one of his hardest riffs to play. and he just effortlessly nails it - pretty much - here, despite frequently flubbing even his most base, easy guitar parts. what seems to be the issue is that the _older_ a blink-182 song is, the better the guitar riffs are. and, weirdly, ALSO the more likely Tom will play it well live. Tom's _Wasting Time_ and _Carousel_ guitar parts are his hardest ones to play, and also the ones he almost always nails. so either it's some bizarrely advanced, deep joke of his or there's just some mental block set up with the stuff he wrote when he was, like, 20 years old. but seriously, though - _Cheshire Cat_ is LONG on great guitar riffs. _M&Ms, Carousel, Wasting Time._ all great, great stuff of his. the best guitar parts he ever did were on that record. _Enema of the State_ has the best songs, _Dude Ranch_ a close second. and _Cheshire Cat_ has the best guitar parts. so basically, as FAKE and re-recorded as it admittedly IS, _The Mark, Tom & Travis Show_ is the album i _most_ recommend to people who don't know Blink.
Touchdown Boy, Ben Wah Balls, and Toast and Bananas are all harder than Carousel. If anything, I would argue Carousel is the easiest in that list. Wasting Time is definitely up there with the others though. Tom is an absolute beast when it comes to downpicking, but I think he just likes to get drunk at shows; pretty sure was sober here 😂
Those older riffs are faster but not necessarily better. Tom started to write smarter parts that were technically easier to play but also musically more advanced
i really think give me one good reason might be the most underrated blink song. it was on such a popular album but seems to be one of the least popular on it and gets forgotten about
Wasting time is the best my fav songs of Blink182 in their Cheshire Cat album, instead M+M's, and Carousel. I'm overthinking that I was in the band to impress my crush, act real tough, and writing song about her :D But that never gonna happen cause I'm stoopid and doombass :D Thanks Blink182 for your great songs 😍
Man I'd give so much for them to put out an acoustic EP or something. Or maybe 4-5 bonus tracks at the end of their next album that's just acoustic versions of some songs.
I can’t believe this was over 10 years ago…I remember back when that this tour came to be, I thought it was going to be a spectacle because of their age. Now 10 years later, i feel this current tour was what was missing with this previous one here. Seeing the boys this Sunday in Nashville btw. 😉
