Hi Todd, with regards Artificial Softened Water and Heating systems. I looked into this a couple of years back. They originally thought that the additional salt in the water would harm the heating system, but this has been proven that it is not the case. The reason manufacturers state not to use it, is because they have not tested it, so they go with the old rule.
You can fill it with softener water. There was a issue many years ago with some reaction with the chemical manufactures they had to alter the formulas. You should look in to Harvey water softeners or Dualflo ( the ones they sell to the trade.) A far better quality softener has two cylinders so no hard water gets into the system and none electric so it doesn't guess its cleaning cycle it does it when its needed.
I saw that leak disappear, too. Nice neat install though. There's always other ways to install. You'll never win that one... so you need not bother ! Great vid

Is it easier to descale Vaillant heat exchanger made from multiple segmented coil, or Viessmann with single pipe coil in heat exchanger? Both are stainless steel but descaling them in hard water area is good maintenance work.
Why didn't you fit the boiler on the back wall? Going to be awkward for any form of future maintenance. Pointless it looking that nice and not be practical 👎🏼
That wall is being ripped down mate (i think i said that in the video) There’s two walls there that aren’t finished, they’re having major works done there and the lay out is going to be different, so it’ll be perfect once it’s all done
Hi Todd, Had the new Ecotec Plus 826 installed, do you know when it switches between heating and hot water, if it’s meant to make this noise like gear changing or something. Not sure if it’s common issue or not? Say the central heating is on you go to use hot water it makes this noise when it changes over to hot water and then when you turn the tap off, it makes the noise again before switching back to central heating. Its abit of a stretched out sound like a gear changing but with a 2/3 sec stretch
So that would be the diverter valve inside the boiler so every time you turn the hot water on, it will move the valve over to the hot water setting and then obviously once you’re done with the hot water you close the tap, it will then flick back over to the central heating inside, and that noise is what you can hear, althoughshouldn’t be that noisy
Hi thanks mate, i have Vaillant coming around soon to check on this as its a quite new boiler like 3 months. The noise is quite noticeable when heating is on 5/6 in the morning and you go to use the hot water in bathroom or kitchen. Hopefully they can fix issue. I actually had an old turbomax before and it never made the slightest noise. You just hear burner go off and come back on, but this new generation ecotec plus just very noticeable lol@@glisterservices
