      Definitely takes some getting used to the cold if you haven't done it before and if you're out there all day. Just gotta live in a state where there is winter. Some people can't handle the cold because it's like their blood is thinner lol. My Dad can shoot them ridiculously far up and he always aims for the head. When they are really far up you have to aim ahead of them lol

    I don't know anything about hunting but what I found remarkable was the dogs, and the way they lay silent until the shooting starts and immediately run out to retrieve the birds. For me that was amazing.

    My dad always comes back with loads of canada geese. The way we always cook it is roasted slow and low, you season it with soy sauce, pepper, and garlic and ginger powder: then you put bacon over the breast so it doesn't dry out. Cook it at 250 till medium rare. Its best served thin slices with pita and mayo (its even better chilled). It's the absolute best thing in the world, and makes an amazing post-race snack with a beer on the boat!

    I started watching your site because my son and grandchildren watch your site. I like it. You are very personable. I loved it when you prayed before eating, but then at some point you stopped. I don't agree. I feel you should always pray and thank God for the life that was taken so that you could eat. Always! Especially if you have been blessed to have been the one to take that life.
    I love your enthusiasm. It's contagious. You are a natural at what you are doing.
    I am glad you found a wife who is just as enthusiastic as you are. I just found out she has her own channel and may go learn more about her. At this point she appears to be a woman after my own heart, because I love everything that you are doing as well.
    But, I do have one issue. You are wasting a lot of meat on your larger game animals, starting with this goose. I hope that the breast is not all you took off of that 🐦. Unless you are feeding the excess meat to your 🐕, I find it hard to believe that you are letting a lot of meat go to waste. Now, I'm not trying to judge you here, I'm just talking to you here like one person to another, wishing I could do it more one on one, as one person living off the land to another.

      For a few more dollars per box you can get much better performance with Heavy Metal shells. They are part bismuth and part regular steel shot. They pattern well and have stronger impact especially when you get further down range. The extra 100 FPS Kent FastSteel brags about will lead to more cripples that sail away than you’ll have with Heavy Metal. Killed a lot of geese and ducks over the past 10 years and it’s all I will use.

      I live in Michigan, the town i work in Tecumseh has the biggest deer I've ever seen, and are having a HUGE over population problem with them, they're damaging people's property and running AT the cars driving down the road. Problem is that they can't hunt in town. So i feel bad for hunters that go out all season long and not get lucky, but there is Legendary size deer walkin out by my work every single night/morning. And we cant touch them.. Unless u hit em with your car that is. 😁

    • @stevewelches1955
      @stevewelches1955 5 років тому +1

      It depends on the hunter. The breast is the easiest to remove and has the most meat for the effort. That being said the whole bird can be utilized just like any chicken. I skin my birds whole and the ones that are shot up I boil and pick off the meat to put in noodles if not shot up I bake them in the an oven roasting bag with gravy mix,orange juice, little flour, water and spices. Comes out tender and juicy and can use baking liquid as gravy on mashed potatoes.
      You can also put the legs and thighs in a crock pot along with carrots onions potatoes and onions like a stew.
      Hope this gives you some insight to the uses of a goose

      They do mate for life, but when split up, they re-pair. If not for hunters, they would be like locust!!!

      TaylorFranklynMusic sir I was born and raised Colorado I’ve been chased by animals much more dangerous than a goose.... lol my father was a WWII veteran and owned his own butcher store. We lived life large and eat good!! My son currently in the USCG and two other family members are in the Navy . So before you judge people maybe you need to be a little more cautious with your responds.

    I have to say, this is by far the best UA-cam channel I’ve ever followed, subscribed, and learned from. Not only have y’all responded back to one of my questions, but y’all have helped me more than you know. I’m a us veteran and sometimes deal with depression and every time I watch this channel I feel less sh**ty. I apologize for language I don’t know any other way to express my point in it all. I’ve never hunt geese before nor have I had it but I wanna go for it because of y’all. I love y’all and wish I could do more to show my appreciation. Let me know when y’all are in San Diego I’d love to fish or something with positive people like y’all.

    Boy 3 1/2 inch shells will rock your world. This was a really awesome video you did ad I bet it was like shooting skeet out there but way better, the geese didn't stand a chance with Roberto out there. I'm you biggest fan and I love you so much I love everything that you do and the life that you live, you are living to the fullest. See you on the next video and as always, God bless.

    Great video Rob! I am so glad you got a chance to hunt Honkers over decoys. There is something about hunting game that will interact with you. Be it talking to Elk, Deer, Geese, or Coyotes, the interaction between the hunter and game, is magical! There is no better way to connect with the wild. The only thing I would recommend is to harvest the legs, heart, and gizzard of your geese, all are part of the experience. I agree with you, processing your own meat becomes part of the total experience. You gain a connection with life that can’t be acquired through buying your meat from a commercial source. I believe you should invite all of your fans (and cameramen) to experience your outdoor experience! You are the face of the outdoors!
