Not many bands could lose three of their five members at the same time, only replace two, and come back even better than before, but Hagane did exactly that.
@@Olivia-mh8wq for me, it was the singer holding the prior incarnation of Hagane back. Her voice simply didn’t fit the music and that prevented me from really getting into them. Junna is an obvious upgrade on drums, but to be fair the previous drummer was solid.
Not sure what they're feeding these ladies in Japan, but they are producing some of the best rock music out there. Hagane, Band-Maid, Lovebites, and others....all super-talented. I'd love to see Hagane have a US Tour at some point.
Honestly, most of it is really just that they’re keeping alive the European metal tradition that the west has unfortunately moved on from for the most part. I listen to a lot of Japanese metal because it has a synergy with the ‘80s and early ‘90s metal that was the soundtrack of my teens and early 20s.
Today in Japan (the 26th) it is Junna's birthday (YAY!) ... I recently met her in person and her stage persona and real demeanor are so different. A much better fit than TRiDENT. The new lead singer Nagi was unknown to most of us and I am very glad she has a deeper voice that goes well with this style. HAGANE means "steel".
Their Tokyo performance is also tomorrow, so it will be her birthday during live! lucky fans who gonna be there! Junna is the most energetic drummer in the world!⚡⚡⚡ Though i know that she is pretty calm when she is away from drum kit )))
The majority of that video isn't live music though, although I do believe there is a part with live drums in the middle. I would love a proper live sound from them, especially with how produced Nagi's vocals are and I just prefer live sound over extremely produced music most of the time. I am not even doubting they are really good live (all of them are very talented), I just want to hear it for myself. If I get an opportunity to watch a streamed show, that's fine as well. I have 2 DVD's of the old lineup, so I would love a not-too-produced live DVD from the current one as well.
The drummer's name is "JUNNA." She is a Japanese who has gained worldwide support for her overwhelming drumming technique. What made her famous was her cover video of DragonForce's "Through The Fire And Flames." It caused a huge sensation around the world, and has been viewed over 5.8 million times to date. In this video, her overwhelming technique is fully demonstrated, and even the DragonForce drummer himself praised her highly. She is truly one of the best drummers in the world.
That old line about "beats that drum kit like it owes her money" just isn't adequate with Junna. More like "beats 'em like they stole her car and killed her dog."
Thank you for featuring Hagane (pronounced HA-ga-neh). They have to be considered one of the hot, up and coming groups, though they had to go through a major reboot in 2023. They were originally a five-piece with dual leads; they have recently re-formed as a four piece (more on that below). The initial lineup came together in 2018, just as they were all finishing high school. Founding guitarist Sakura had been posting metal covers on youtube since she was 14, and gained notoriety as a technical beast with a taste for ferocious shredding. That is how most of the other band-members found her. Original lineup: Vocal: Chiemi Guitar : Sakura Yoshida (also writes and arranges most of the music) Guitar : Mayto Bass : Sayaka Drum : Kanako Takahashi In 2019, Chiemi left and was replaced by Uyu. The band released three concert DVDs and a full-length album (“Code 9021”) during her tenure. From that lineup: “Soul Beats”: ua-cam.com/video/k8NTRJ_yTxY/v-deo.html The rhythm line seamlessly melds rock and funk throughout. The guitar solo is classic jazz fusion, but with distortion. The heavy use of minor and diminished scales gives it a vaguely middle-eastern vibe, but jacked up to searing intensity. “Super Villan” ua-cam.com/video/MCqzm0nUxbM/v-deo.html Huge guitar duel, with give and take and a lot of experimental ideas. “Black Cult” ua-cam.com/video/LCheI6-MWhY/v-deo.html From their most recently released album, another with lots of musical ideas, more guitar dueling, and powerful vocals from Uyu. In early 2023, the band announced the departures of three members-Uyu, Mayto and Kanako. They spent the next year rebuilding. They have re-formed as a four-piece, with the already famous Junna on drums. Junna was previously one of the original members of Kakumei (later rebranded as Trident), and has a popular youtube channel where she posts hyperactive solo drum covers of metal songs. New vocalist Nagi has replaced Uyu. This is her first professional gig. Hagane 3.0: Guitars: Sakura Bass: Sayaka Drums: Junna Vocals: Nagi Hagane are clearly playing in a similar space as groups like Mary’s Blood, Bridear, Nemophila and Lovebites-melodic, hard, heavy and technical. Early on, however, they developed their own signature sound, built around exotic scales, syncopated rhythms and the aforementioned high-octane shredding. Their songwriting is mature, far beyond what you should be able to expect from a bunch of people this young. The new lineup have released an EP, “Life Goes On”, with five tracks including an instrumental. Despite not having the dual attack, it looks like they haven’t lost a step-Junna is insane as ever on drums, and Sakura is just on fire. Here are two tracks: “Tengagoken” (official video): (You just watched this.) and “Hero Time”, (official live): ua-cam.com/video/-uIGtQNesx0/v-deo.html Other bandmembers: Uyu formed her own band, which largely focuses on covers of other metal groups, especially Babymetal. Kanako is also an elite musician and has been in a couple of bands since leaving Hagane.
So happy that Sakura(gtr) and Sayaka(b) decided to Stay together when 3 members left band about 1,5 years ago. They found Junna and singer Nagi. Their new music is dope 🔥❤️
Hagane are an interesting proposition, they've been around since 2018 with the primary driving force being the guitarist Sakura, but lost 3/5 of their original lineup a couple of years ago when they departed due musical/artistic 'differences in direction' (bassist Sayaka being the only other founding member to remain). Two of the members that quit (singer Uyu & guitarist Mayto) have since formed another band, Mana Diagram, which suggests that the differences of opinion might've not have been limited to just music. The new lineup has a lot of potential, singer Nagi is essentially a newcomer (she didn't even have a public facing social media account before joining the band) and drummer Junna is known for her showboating, aggressive playing style which seems like an ideal fit for their type of melodic power metal. Sakura Yoshida is very much a disciple of the Mike Varney/Shrapnel Records end of 80s shredders, with plenty of covers on her personal YT. Occasionally this gets her into trouble with songwriting where she goes overboard with the solos/instrumental bridges, you couldn't ever accuse her of leaving you wanting more lead guitars. It often feels like she's still writing as though there's two guitarists in the band, but hopefully this condensed lineup will gradually lead to tightening up that part of her arranging skillset.
Yes, that is indeed 'Junna' the machine gunner. What an incredible band this group of ladies are. You may want to consider watching their other songs...'life goes on' and 'hero time.'
Reminds me of early Aldious, when Rami was the singer (before Reno) when that band had a much harder power metal edge. Hagane guitarist, Sakura, has also had a long history on UA-cam playing covers and originals. Many fans had been following her for a long time before she started Hagane.
aren't they great ? this lineup will go a LONG way. junna reminds me of BAND MAID'S kanami - on stage they are both beasts with their weapon of choice - behind the scenes ? just the opposite - both humble and demure - AND both are awesome !

Pleasantly surprised how good this was. The instrument at the end sounded like a koto. Normally I dislike blast beats but this I could stomach unlike another Band that constantly has it in all their songs I listened to. When I first saw the name of the band, it reminded me of a book of the same name about a historical samurai which I don't remember much else about. Love your genuine reactions.
I first heard of Hagane in fall of 2019. A friend in the Facebook group "Babymetal Family" asked a bunch of us if we wanted to start a Hagane Facebook fan group and for us to send a flower display to their first live show. I had been following their leader Sakura Yoshida for years on UA-cam and followed lead singer Uyu with her band DizzyMetal for just as long. Their first live went well and plans were made for their first solo show. The demic struck and they were forced to do their first solo show with no audience. There was a lot of heartache but we bought as many of their DVDs and CDs as we could to keep them motivated. They released quite a few singles and music videos over the next 2 years and then surprised us with a breakup announcement. The new lineup is as good as the old and Mana Diagram is turning out to be as good though they don't have Sakura's songwriting skills. A lot of Hagane's new fans seem to have followed Junna in which isn't a surprise. She was definitely a good addition.

Hello Princess NittPicc! This isn't Band Maid, but that's okay. Yes, you were correct, that was Junna on drums. I think this band is a much better fit for Junna than Trident was. Junna tended to overpower her band mates while she was in Trident. I really like this new lineup for Hagane, but I liked the former lineup with all 5 members too. If you want to see the older group, I'd suggest "Black Cult" as a good representation of the group with the original 5 members. Please take care and have an awesome week. As always, I'm looking forward to Sunday again.
I thought you'd mention the shakuhachi, so I'm glad you reacted to it. Many people called this a flute, but it's a shakuhachi. I think the sound was electronic. If it were a real shakuhachi, the breath-modulated tone would be more noticeable, so I understand why it could be mistaken for a flute. lol.
I am a bit surprised that you did not spot Junna in the reaction. You even commented on her pigtails. Personally I cannot help but think of Animal from Sesame Street when I see Junna. Now, I have heard Junna talk and she is much more vocal than Animal.
#nittpicc HAGANE is found by SAKURA Yoshida in 2017. The first band had no bassist Constite to SAKURA on guitare MAYTO on guitare KANAKO on drums and a Vocalist who didn't stay mor than few weeks. In 2018 UYU arrived behind the mic. And SAYAKA on bass. This version of HAGANE was together until 2023. They've made an EP called EPISODE Ø and an Album called CODE 9021. You will found a lots of MV from this era on their UA-cam chanel. In 2023 MAYTO, UYU & KANAKO annonce they've left the band for personal reasons. MAYTO & UYU found MANA DIAGRAM, UYU is Vocalist for in DIZZY METAL as wall. It's a cover band on BABYMETAL. MAYTO is a guest guitare for HIZAKI on solo, Guitarist of VERSAILLES AND JUPITER. KANAKO is support drummer for PALENEØ. In 2024 SAKURA & SAYAKA annonce the arrival of JUNNA on drums and NAGI on vocal. NAGI it's her first experience as pro Vocalist. JUNNA is well knowned , she guess drummer for FATE GEAR ( when HARUKA can't travel overseas). She's famous for covers ( Dragon Force, Judas Priest). She was founder during her highschool of GIRLS ROCK BAND KAKUMEI ( JUNNA, Serina, Asaka) know now as TRIDENT ( with arrival of Nagisa). Next time try my favourite song BLACKCULT MV ( pirate boat ).
Hagane is excellent, especially the new stuff with the new line-up. Absolutely recommend doing more. Also, not really similar, but you should check out the chinese group Sixiwanzi. Any of their original songs will be something you like, I promise.
Might I suggest Life goes on as a next pick for Hagane? When I found the band a few month ago I listened to that song on repeat. And check out the new Band Maid album!
That guitarist Sakura is extremely good. She and the basist are small women and they use small instruments. Looks good and comnortable. Other small Japanese women, e.g. Lovebites and BAND-MAID uses bigger guitars, even though I know that Midori in Lovebites has a slightly smaller one. This song is growing on me. I did not really like it first, even though I recognized the skills of the guitarist. But, I now think it is good.
Great reaction video! Hagane is one of the best bands from Japan! This song is one of the masterpieces by Sakura Yoshida! Sakura is one of the best melodic guitarists in the world! Sakura is the main leader of this band! She is an excellent songwriter, composer, arranger and producer of a new EP called 'Life Goes On' from 2024! This band is back after a one year hiatus with two new members: singer Nagi and drummer JUNNA! Hagane is a very talented and so amazing band! All the young women from this band have 'huge' musical talent! Sakura Yoshida is my favorite guitarist and musician! JUNNA is my favorite drummer! Really great and so talented all-female band in Power Melodic Metal genre of music! Thank you so much for this reaction video! Have a good day!
Your comments are highly insightful and helpful to those who aren't musicians. I'd love to see you checking out another new song by Hagane called "Hero Time".
I've been following Junna for a long time, her likeability and energy are really amazing, I'm sure she added a lot to Haganeye. I hope she makes a little more covers. ua-cam.com/video/UlEOfzAgTCE/v-deo.html
Yes, she is Junna. Hagane (steel) was originally a five-member band, but about a year ago the band broke up and only Sakura Yoshida (guitar) and Sayaka (bass) remained. Junna and Nagi the singer are the new members, bringing in a drummer with as much hype and following as Junna is a good move... but I don't really hear that much difference from their previous drummer, Kanako. Nagi sounds a lot like the previous singer Uyu... although to me Uyu's voice seems prettier, but maybe less powerful. What I really miss is Mayto's guitar and her double solos with Sakura... also, when they play live, her rhythm guitar will be missed.😎
I love a female vocalist with a slightly deeper tone. It gives the sound a sense of maturity, and confidence. Then ya throw down with those instruments? Yeah, we're going to listen to more of this. As for the Hagane and it having to do with swords. It is what the Japanese swords were made out of. Tamahagane to be exact. Tama means "precious" and hagane means "steel". Traditional Japanese swords were made from iron sand found in Shimane, Japan. They would cook it for about three days in a massive furnace. Which would yield a decent amount of steel, but not near enough to go around. So you had to be a pretty well connected sword maker to get your share. Then you would make swords for Samurai with this particular steel. Nowadays you can get katana from a catalog, stamped out from stainless steel, or whatever. But a traditional sword made "right" had a lot of rules set in how it was made, and was so labor intensive and time consuming, the swordmaker was said to have imparted a piece of their own soul into the blade. Just don't get into a discussion about it with a sword nerd, or you're in for a headache and a half! lol! I'm just giving a bare bones explanation here, but I'm SURE I ticked off five people just by typing all that. But I'll just ignore em. =P
“It’s all about the One, baby,” said Mr. James Brown. HAGANE (羽金) is the steel used to craft KATANA. The kanji for TENKA (天下) literally mean “under Heaven.” GOKKN (五剣) is “five” swords. You pronounced everything correctly. The entire Life Goes On! EP is great. The songs Hero Time and Life Gies On! are even better than this one. This is HAGANE reborn after losing their vocalist, drummer, and second guitar. Reformed as a four-piece, guitarist, Sakura Yoshida is apparently double tracking the twin guitars heard here. Vocalist Nagi is a revelation; listen to the aforementioned songs to see what I mean. And Junna has found a band for which her style is appropriate. I can’t wait to hear what they do next.
The off shoot of Hagane called Mana Diagram has Uyu and Mayto, ex-Hagane members. They have two kick ass singles released called Glitter Wind and Shocks. Their EP and Haganes new release are both equal in terms of overall talent and musical quality for me. Its a crime that Mana Diagram doesnt have Hagane fans enjoy them because both bands sound VERY similar.
Now that you have reacted to Aldious and Hagane, time to complete the trifecta of second tier J-metal groups with Bridear. This is my favorite song of theirs…and it’s a top tier worthy masterpiece… ua-cam.com/video/_6-OXcyMkYI/v-deo.htmlsi=bUMeglmG8VLj45cs

If it were a real shakuhachi, the breath-modulated tone would be more noticeable, so I understand why it could be mistaken for a flute. lol.
thats singers voice fits so damn well in metal music
The whole EP is great! Also if you want to check out the old line up, try "Supervillian".
Love y'a gurl that's why your my FAVORITE 🤟🔥 can't go wrong with HAGANE. an JUNNA 🔥🔥🤟 AKANE'S and HARUNAS LOVE CHILD 🤣🤣🤟🤟❤️🙏🇺🇲 WTAM
Huh, I never even noticed the flute in the background until you pointed it out.
Can you react to their song "Hero Time"? It's really insane!!!!
I am a bit surprised that you did not spot Junna in the reaction. You even commented on her pigtails.
Personally I cannot help but think of Animal from Sesame Street when I see Junna.
Now, I have heard Junna talk and she is much more vocal than Animal.

HAGANE is found by SAKURA Yoshida in 2017.
The first band had no bassist
Constite to SAKURA on guitare
MAYTO on guitare
KANAKO on drums
and a Vocalist who didn't stay mor than few weeks.
I have now listened to "Hero Time" and a I super loved it.
I wonder if Junna has her chiropractor on speed dial 😂
他に、HeroTime Life Goes Onの2曲が最新のHAGANEの楽曲です。良ければそちらも聴いてみて下さい😊🤘
Damn right, that's Junna. I think she's a perfect match for Sakura. They can both peel paint with their shredding.
Match made in Heaven...
You need to do the Hero Time video!
This could be my fav track of the year. And thats a high bar to set in japanese bands.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Your comments are highly insightful and helpful to those who aren't musicians. I'd love to see you checking out another new song by Hagane called "Hero Time".
I've been following Junna for a long time, her likeability and energy are really amazing, I'm sure she added a lot to Haganeye. I hope she makes a little more covers.

The all-female Japanese rock/metal bands have been crushing it for years. Junna is just a beast on drums. The level of talent in Japan is amazing.
That fact ilove you reaktor cute❤💋
Excuse me, It's 鋼, not 羽金.
I had a feeling you'd like their style. I'll get back later after work about Hagane.
The last sound is.
I don't think it's the shamisen.
I think it's koto.😀
The off shoot of Hagane called Mana Diagram has Uyu and Mayto, ex-Hagane members. They have two kick ass singles released called Glitter Wind and Shocks. Their EP and Haganes new release are both equal in terms of overall talent and musical quality for me. Its a crime that Mana Diagram doesnt have Hagane fans enjoy them because both bands sound VERY similar.
I don't have a Japanese keyboard to type. How about Hanabie song OSAKINISHITSTUREISHIMASU
"Pardon Me I Have To Go Now" 👍
Please react to heavy is the crown by linkin park Ms. Nittpicc thanks 😊
I tried Googling your band uniform! I can't find your alma mater. Sorry. :~(
Now that you have reacted to Aldious and Hagane, time to complete the trifecta of second tier J-metal groups with Bridear.
This is my favorite song of theirs…and it’s a top tier worthy masterpiece…
