Who asks a person they've only been dating for a few months to get surgery because of their preference? Surgery is a huge deal with permanent consequences. He's not even been a steady partner with her for a long time.

Why should she get surgery just for his preference? This isn't a hair color she can just re-dye or a pair of shoes she can leave behind when they break up. This is a permanent body modification that would last far longer than he would.

I get that awkward feeling that if he pays for it it’s like he owns part of her body. That’s what I think makes me ick because they aren’t married.
The fact that this story is so bad itself WITHOUT taking into account he is 34 while she is 20!!!! He DEFINITELY manipulated her and probably groomed her to trust him. I don’t know what 31 year old has business with a 17 year old. He has such a huge power dynamic over her and is now using it against her that they’re together. My cousin had a breast reduction for health reasons, scary thing is that she was allergic to the anesthetic and had a hard time waking up.
The breast reduction surgery in itself is a whole red flag and enough to leave, and can we also talk about the anger and the “I’m sorry, it’s only cause I drank too much..” whole aspect too… like that’s a whole other concern and shows signs of possible future abuse, he literally got so pissed at something she didn’t wanna do to her own body, that he physically reacted, smashing his beer can and cursing at her… imagine a more personal argument.. imagine if he started having trust issues or if she didn’t wanna please him one day.. this terrifies me for her.

I have had so many things go wrong during surgery my stories would probably scare most people out of wanting elective procedures.
Red flags all around for a lifetime of abuse. Dump him and avoid all men similar.
Edit: Of course there's an age gap, there always seems to be a an age gap in these situations. Always be sus of older men going after young women.
I think asking someone else to have surgery for you is always wrong and he doubled down on the insult by saying he had been withholding sex because it made her unattractive. But his anger when she didn’t agree with him leading to him kicking her was unreal. He was demanding she have surgery because he would pay for it. It was just wrong on so many levels so even if it was wasn’t about something so intrinsically wrong he would still have been out of line.

Good for her!! I was 19 and met my ex through a friend, he was 11 years older than me. (First relationship) I didn’t see the issue until it was too late. 2.5 years of metal, physical, and emotional abuse, isolation from my hometown, and controlling who I talked to and when I talked to them (including my parents). I wish I would’ve been smarter and more confident. So proud of this young woman, she is wise beyond her years! He is not worth a damn.

I had top surgery, a double mastectomy, a while ago, and recovering from that was a total pain in the ass. It's different from a breast reduction, but I think the recovery process would be pretty similar. I couldn't lift my hands fully above my head for week, I couldn't carry heavy things, I couldn't even wear my backpack to go to school. I was lucky enough to be able to take care of myself after a few days and go back to my regular schedule after a week, but surgeries like that take you out of school/work for weeks if not months. No one should EVER pressure someone else to get a surgery. Especially one that has such a big recovery time. He must have never had surgery, because he clearly doesn't know how much of a tole surgery takes on your body and mind.
And this kind of surgery can make breastfeeding babies difficult if not impossible, something to consider if she wants to have kids and breastfeed them.
Lol where did you get your info from? If we were back in the old days sure.. But we're in 2022 and the chances of her not being able to breastfeed or having "difficulty" after having a reduction is incredibly low. Surgery has come a long way.

It can (does not always) make it difficult for some women.
It still is a risk factor. Not as big of a risk factor as it once was. But it still is a risk factor.

i had breast reduction, went from 34H to 34C, after literal YEARS of contemplating it. it was a huge decision to do that (especially when i was 18) and not one to be dictated by a partner. with that said, anyone thinking about getting a reduction should definitely ask their doctor about it! it was the best decision of my life and the healing time is only a few weeks, with mostly just bruising and swelling. i'm a huge baby when it comes to pain and all i felt was moderate soreness and occasional 'zinging' pains (which is good, it's nerves reconnecting!)
If YOU wanted the breast surgery it was the right decision. Don't even let someone tell you otherwise

what a weirdo. breast reductions aren’t a small feat, i’m recovering from one as of now and it was the result of many years of reflection. it’s so hard on you physically and mentally, you have to be prepared. ++ you should never get any surgery because someone has a preference, YOUR comfort and happiness are what’s important. i’m honestly worried for this woman, he doesn’t see her as a human being worthy of respect

I think the only way that a partner offering to pay for a surgery or something is the very specific scenario in which you express that you really want it, but cannot afford it.
I feel your pain personally I had a reduction recently though hate the healing process but love the lack of pain and fitting in a bikini without worrying about nip slips I feel so much sexier but completely agree it is someone’s choice

I have a pretty big bump on my nose and the tip is pretty long but i hate it. I really dislike my nose bc i (in my humble opinion) think i have nice features, but my big ass nose just messes up my whole face. On top of that it’s functioning worse than it looks if that makes sense lol: 24/7 nose whistling, hard time to breathe, difficulties to swallow like the whole package. I’ve been wanting a nose job since i was maybe 12, at first some kids picked at me for it…. I quickly learned to brush them off (plus i’m jewish so i had an argument lmaooo) but im 20 now and i still want a nose job even tho i don’t hate it AS MUCH as i used to.
That being said, i feel this OP on a whole other level. How do you maintain a relationship with someone who’s actively trying to change you as an individual into the beauty standards of whichever reality he lives in? Hate to tell you guys, but most natural boobs are uneven. It’s due to your dominant hand essentially giving the tissue a workout when you write, lift objects, etc. You favor that side and use those muscle groups more.
