Great review as always! I'm quite surprised that Aegean operated an older a321 on a route to LHR, as they usually use their Neo fleet for it, which has the refurbished interior. The service still remains excellent regardless of plane, of course. Since their recent founding, they have continuously expanded their network, even launching flights to DXB so it will be interesting to see what the long-term ambitions are for them. Would love to see long-haul A3 flights one day!

Aegean is the best European Airline in my opinion. They are for sure among the most generous. On most other Airlines nowadays, one must purchase food and drink. Aegean always provides this service free of charge.
I flew with Aegean 2 weeks ago, and your review is spot on, they ground crew too checked all carry on suitcases, the food was incredible and the flight crew were incredible, also they added the wifi option, which when connected gives you a full entertainment system, I was very surprised for all that despite the flight was 1h 40m. You probably the best flight reviewer, I immediately subscribed

Every airlines have this special counters for checking hand luggage for size compliance..(especially the one on the wheels ). The thing is I bought an economy class ticket which includes carry on luggage with sizes 56x45x25, a little nervous if there will be oversize, despite I have the same sizes luggage.. or I should take measuring tape with me😏

During the last few years I tend to fly almost exclusively on Aegean and, although they had a very good service from the start, they have been steadily improving even so slightly. The last campaign which was advertized quite a bit was about improving their food choices. Judging from the type of treat on your table, I assume your trip was in December as this is a traditional Greek Christmas cookie. As a side note, it was rather refreshingly odd hearing Greek music on the background while watching you touring the Heathrow grounds.
This is a kourabie from Nea Karvali. Kourabie is a Christmas treat yes, but Nea Karvali is known for its kourabiedes and they make it year round there. It is near the city of Kavala in northern Greece, and if you ever visit, you'll find many local shops selling kourabiedes.
How would you rank the loonges at LHR t2? I've been meaning to ask about the walking tour channel you had for a while. I've watched a few videos but haven't seen it for abwhile. I'm guessing it wasn't worth the effort.
I was thoroughly impressed with the United Lounge in the Satellite while I was there, but the SQ lounge wasn't open after renovations yet- I presume now that would be the place to go. In the main terminal, I've always been a fan of the LH lounge. For the walking channel, hard to say if it was worth it or not. That (and the take off/landing channel) were both just meant to supplement my time and potential future revenue if the main channel didn't bring returns in a meaningful and timely way, but once that was the case- it simply wasn't worth the extra effort for something that "might" bring returns in the future. It was also when I was traveling differently, hell bent on producing hotel content from every locale I visited while I tested different types of markets. That phase of research is over, so having time to film things like walking videos would require me to spend more time than the main channel needed in any given place. Just too much time.
Flying LHR-ATH this Monday with Aegean. BA used to very be good on the ATH route as they treated it as a longer 'short' haul with good food and wide bodies. Now they downscaled the service (even Amman is classified as short haul Europe) I choose Aegean. BA needs to create a medium haul concept for routes like ATH, IST, CAI, LCA and AMM; they are not the same as a flight to Amsterdam or Paris
It was another excellent series of flights: full meal, sweets and two rounds of drinks. The magazine is a travelogue with useful tips of what to see in Athens (and many other cities). Good value fare. All in all Aegean deserves its good reputation
Great video again Kevin. The non Shengen area lounge is nice and the food is good. Athens airport has a manageable size and connections are easy. But the problem is that if you miss a connection, there are not that many alternatives for outwards international connections. Agreed that is a very good mid size regional airlines. They are starting to fly to Dubai now which must be their longest flight.

Like it Kevin and when it comes to A3 their FFQ program it's very useful for someone going to Greece and then using it for domestic United Airlines because once you are Star Alliance gold on A3 UA lounges are open to you. Just like an SQ Krisflyer PPS member or Royal Orchid Plus gold granting you access to domestic UA Clubs international UA Polaris lounge like Terminal C EWR. A3 & OU are the Star Alliance regional carriers for Europe picking up where Adria Airways used to have. In other Airline alliances you have RO for Skyteam feeding AF/KL/UX/AZ future SK. Oneworld Alliance this used to be AB for Western Europe while the former Soviet Union this was S7. What A3 could have done was take Olympic airlines widebody fleet and then use them to fly to UA🇺🇲/AC🇨🇦 hubs across the Atlantic on the other side of the Eurasian continent to TG🇹🇭 BR🇹🇼 OZ🇰🇷 NH🇯🇵 SQ ZH/CA🇨🇳

Fun watching this from the SQ lounge in T2B. Agree that Aegean is quite good but relatively unknown. And for people who can get 4 segments with the airline, still a fantastic route to star gold.

I’m glad they’re doing well. Usually airlines from that region flops due to over ambition and with the economic situation of the country it’s nice to know they’re lean and can make it work. Don’t go big buying a bunch of aircraft’s, traveling to less profitable long haul routes and be saddled with debt. They have a niche and it’s seem to be working.
London can frequently be sunny! Over the past 30 years it’s been changing each year…losing its most precious Englishness. Glad to have seen it back then! It was tremendous
@@tfftThis is how many airlines handle this nowadays, in Europe at least. When flying Aegean in C you can take your carryon without limitations. Otherwise just wait outside of the gate area and when they start boarding use your Gold status to get into the priority lane.

I am 6ft1 and taken the exact flight myself. The main problem was the lack of leg room which was the worst I have ever experienced. Good airline, but I would never fly with them again.
I find this review a bit too enthusiastic say the least. Watching the video I see nothing differentiating them from lets say klm or lufthansa. No ife, old seats, basic food… you mention the flight attendants were good which is probably different than lufthansa 😊 but still I struggle to see what makes them a dark horse.

Did you know that Etihad airways flight directly from Doha Qatar to Athens Greece just so you know for next time you want to go to Greece
The purpose of going to London was to fly on Etihad's A380 in First Class. EY doesn't fly first class or the A380 to Athens.

A3 actually has a fair bit of connecting pax between Europe and Middle East, Egypt, Caucasus through their ATH hub.
