Nat King Cole was the man back in the 1950's. Natalie added her voice years after her father died.
A masterpiece. Natalie's whole album that pays tribute to her father and his songs is one of my all time favorites.
Start the song with the father doing lead and daughter following, middle they are together in harmony, then daughter takes lead and father follows, then finish together.... Perfect.

Cole's career as a jazz and pop vocalist started in the late 1930s and spanned almost three decades where he found success and recorded over 100 songs that became hits on the pop charts.-- Natalie Maria Cole was an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was the daughter of singer and jazz pianist Nat King Cole. She rose to prominence in the mid-1970s, with the release of her debut album Inseparable, along with the song "This Will Be", and the album's title track.duet with her father.
This was so cool when they did this, her father, "Nat King Cole" was a U.S. treasure and had a liquid gold voice. I'm not sure how long he had been gone but his daughter, "Natalie Cole" put this together after his death. I thought he was a great tribute to her father and it was very popular.
Nat was her father who had already passed away at this point so she was doing a duet with a recording of him

my Mom loved Nat King Cole and then Natalie came around in my generation. What a beautiful duet between father and daughter with technology.
He was a huge star in the late 50s and 60s. His voice is mesmerizing. I remember feeling sad when he passed away from lung cancer. He was a heavy smoker back in the day when they didn’t warn you of the danger that cigarettes brought. She had an incredible voice too. R.I.P. Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. 🥰👏👏
My mom was a huge fan of Nat King Cole, so I grew up listening to him (my dad was a bigger fan of his early years on the keyboard with the King Cole Trio). He was only in his mid-40s when he passed away in 1965.
Check out any of his music. You won't regret it.

My late mother was a major Nat King Cole fan (RIP). When the music video came out with his daughter she simply loved it, as did I.
This is obviously the studio recording from the video dubs on live footage.
His was the first tv show , I believe, that starred a black man. His voice is so smooth. There’s no voice like his. His daughter died too soon. That’s Natalie here, named after him.
My dad was a musician from Nat King Cole's era and he was friends with his brother Eddie and his wife, Betty Cole. We lived in Santa Cruz when I was a kid in the 60's and they came to town for some lounge work and stayed at our house. My dad owned that town back then for that kind of soft music in clubs. Betty stayed really good friends with my mom after my father and Eddie both passed away
Just remember - Nat Cole was a huge star, with his own prime time tv show in the 50s! (Don’t fall for everything you hear about how racism was everywhere then). He perfectly epitomized style of popular music of the 50’s. Classy, cool, urbane, smooth, and reserved. Then suddenly, rock and roll upset everything! You can imagine what people thought when they first saw Elvis. He was unpalatable to grown-ups!

(Way back then, TV was something we only turned on to watch shows we actually cared about. And when the TV wasn’t on, the radio or the stereo was, and we were all humming or singing along. Sweet memories 💗. 👍👍
It's really cool how they were able to mix this song together with Natalie singing with her dad. He was such a legend. Love his smooth silky voice. He was an American singer, jazz pianist & actor. He recorded over 100 songs that became hits on the pop charts. He is best known for "Mona Lisa" & "Unforgettable" but he had so many great hits such as "Smile", "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66", "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons", "There! I've Said It Again", "Nature Boy", "Ramblin' Rose", "Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer" etc.

I grew up hearing my mom play his records. When this album came out I wore it out! She recorded in his original studio and many of the same musicians. Just unforgettable!
Nat King Cole had such an amazingly wonderful and unique voices. It isn't really a Proper Christmas without Nat King Cole Christmas songs. And songs Like "Mona Lisa," "Unforgettable," and "Lazy Days of Summer." He is from my mom and dad's era from the 40s through the 1960s. Being a kid growing up, we knew all of the music our folks would listen to. I learned to appreciate different genres of music besides my Rock and Roll/Blues, and Motown.
