I lost a family member on the titanic, he is buried in Canada. Thankfully, he was one who was identified
Oh my. Thanks so much for sharing that with us.
We have a Titanic gravesite here in Halifax. The graves are in the shape of a ship's hull. I teared up the first time I was there. Some of the head stones are very detailed. Others just have the date of the sinking. Anyway you look at it, it's a very poignant place that tugs at the heart strings.
I would absolutely love to visit.
What a sad story. It's interesting that she was married a few times after the loss of Lucian. Ending up at a sanitarium is tragic. It's a wonder if she had nightmares about that sinking and her ordeal. May she rest in peace.
That is where my family member is buried his name was Robert Douglas Norman, second class passenger
You’re so right, Audra. It just makes you wonder what this poor lady went through. So sad. Hope you had a good day today.
We have a cemetery out here in California that has a section that is shaped like an airplane. It's a memoriam for 911. One of the pilots was from my hometown and he is buried in that same cemetery.
I remember when Marshall's aircraft went down. In fact, I was in my early 20s and I remember a lot of the college teams and the high school teams. We're all putting on a big memorial for them
I really appreciate you sharing that.
She went through so much in her life May she Forever Rest In Peace 🙏🙏
I love the comment. Thank you.
I'm so glad you stopped at the crash site, I have wanted to go. I have seen the movie at least 5 times and always cry like it was my first time. So very sad. My Dad was Stationed in Fort Riley kansas in 1970 . He heard of the crash at the base and when he came home he told us.
I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you.
Love your new format, Between the Dates. Great story. So sad for all the sports team and associates who died. RIP to all.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for stopping at the crash site. It seems sacred.
I love series you are doing and appreciate the work you are putting into it. You always give us something extra.
I really appreciate that. Thank you so much!
I am a Titanic nut! Never heard this story! Thank you for sharing!
I truly appreciate the comment. Thank you!
Same as myself
Great stories! Loving your new series ❤️
Glad you like them! Thanks so much!
On April 6, 2018 in the province of Saskatchewan Canada there was a massive bus crash that killed 16 members of the humbolt broncos hockey team and injured many more. The story of the Marshall crash reminded me of them
Oh wow. I had never heard of that before.
Great video!! Thanks for sharing and for keeping history alive.
I appreciate you watching.
Beautiful memorial. So sad. Thanks for sharing with us.
I had never heard of that plane crash. What a tragic loss and shock..so close to home. I was touched by hearing all the birds singing. Life hoes on and they are all out of pain. The Titanic story again was unknown to me and so sad but fascinating. I can't imagine. Obviously no one could hold a candle to her first love and the father of her son. I hope she is with him now forever. Thank you for BOTH wonderful stories between the dates! Love everything you share.
I truly appreciate this. Thank you for this comment as well as all of the others that you make.
Great Video as always keep up the good work. I always enjoy the stories that go along with your videos.
Glad you like them!
I always learn something from your videos. I remember that plane crash. It was horrible. Stay safe .
Thank you so much!
Akron, Ohio, has a Titanic survivor buried in it's Glendale Cemetery. There might be another survivor buried in another Akron cemetery. Can't recall the name right now.
Your thoughtfulness and compassion shines through in this video. Thank you.
I appreciate that. Thank you.
I’m from Logan WV. So the Marshall plain crash is felt by all West Virginians. We Are Marshall makes me proud and sad at the same moment
Thank you for taking me along with you . I really enjoyed the story . I love the movie
Glad you enjoyed it
These videos are great. Always learn something new about the people who lived before us.
We Are Marshall is an excellent movie. Very sad tragedy.
Thanks so much for the comment.
The titanic was the only ship with coal. The miners was on strike. Most of the men who survived was deadheader coming to America to find work on another ship. They knew it was going to sink and got on the first boats out.
Very interesting.
Thank you for sharing Marshall place crash sight and graves. I have watched the movie several times. I remember when my older sister watched it she called me crying. Said it was so sad and heartbreaking.
Thank you for sharing this vedio Chris.
God Bless
I really appreciate that and I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you so much.
I have a person that dead and survived buried here from the Titanic disaster here in Cedar Rapids Iowa Walter and Lulu Douglas Walter didn’t make it Lulu did also love the new start up you have for your Video

Another awesome video. Good or bad history is there for us to learn from. Thank you Whitt.
Glad you enjoyed it
I don't remember the plane crash. I was only 4 years old at the time. Very interesting about the lady who survived the sinking of the Titanic.
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks again for sharing this, Chris, Angel, Saw the movie, about WE ARE MARSHALL,then remember watching CBS, Walter Cronkite telling the events of that day
Good Evening, John.
Such a treat to see her final resting place. The tragedy they suffered and survived probably brought her and Daniel's close but the struggle to atempt to get over it may have put an end to them also. I just cant imagine what they went through. Thank you fir taking Us along on this Awesome journey through history. Your very much appreciated. Try to stay dry lol ✌️🙏
Thank you so much. I’m doing my best to stay dry. It rained here again today. Every time I’ve filmed recently, it’s rained. This story was definitely an interesting one. It’s hard to believe that she survived the titanic and met another survivor and married him. It’s something to think about. I really appreciate you being a part of my subscribers and members. I truly couldn’t do this without you. Thank you.
Thank goodness she was able to have her son. I hope they were close.
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.
My great grandparents had tickets...the story i got my great granny didnt like the sound of the name.. had a horrible feeling about it. Great grandad said " dont be silly, will be fine." The morning they were getting ready to go granny was being very slow and tarty..by time they got to the dock, the ship had already left. Grand dad was i guess pretty angry they missed the boat. Apparently i have some relatives that still have the tickets!! Guess i wouldn't be here if they were on time!!.. i guess i know where my mom ( RIP) and i got our spotty abilities to have premonitions that normally turn out to happen a few days later.
Your great granny was smart by taking her time she known it wasn't a good one Jesus saved them from going on the Titanic
We go to a cemetery in West Virginia and one of the players is buried there. His marker is very nice. Has his picture and a football if I remember correctly.
Yes I remember the horrific plane crash. Even now, I feel sadness thinking about all the lives lost.
It was so tragic. Thanks for commenting.
We are Marshall. ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Love between the dates such an awesome idea keep it up
Thank you! Will do!
Great video, everything here is news to me including the plane crash. Both memorials for those killed in the crash are wonderful especially the one at the crash site. Listening to all of those song birds I love them and the scenery is amazing too. I’m going to have to watch the movie.
Thanks so much for this comment!
What a great video. Such cool, intriguing history.
Thank you so much!
I don't remember that plane crash, but if you provided some pictures maybe it would ring a bell
Remember it, grew up in Northeast Ohio and Kent State. At Kent during the shootings and Marshall was part of the MAC which includes Kent State.
Wow. Thanks for sharing.
First i never heard of the Marshall movie or story. I will find that movie if i can. So sad all those people from one place had to die.Now to Titantic survivor, Mary, i had heard of her and her husband in a documentary on the A& E channel called the Legend lives on. That was 1994 and a two parter on the Titantic so i really got involved in that tragedy since then. And some other shows since then mentioned her too. Too bad the husband did not go to other side of ship to get into boats. Enjoyable video but sadness too! RIP to all lost souls.
I really appreciate your comment.
Thank you so much and love your channel.
Yep I was 4 years old when that happened. We lived on west 5th street. Just down from Owen's Illinois glass plant. All of Huntington got together that night. I remember shops closing early and being at midway drive in when the news came out.
I really appreciate this comment. Thanks so much for sharing.
I was 1 years old 5 months and 12 days. When the Marshall crash happened.
Thanks for commenting!
The boats are called lifeboats. If her husband was denied a seat in the lifeboat, they were most likely on second officer Lighttoller's side. He was very strict with the order. He was given of women and children first interpreted as women and children only. Sadly if they had gone to the otherside. Officer Murdoch was putting women and children in the boats first, but allowing men when all the women had been loaded and there was space.
Wow. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
We are Marshall was such a great movie such a tragic accident R.I.P to all the victims the fountain is beautiful they have in memory
Thanks so much for the comment!
Mary Elouise Smith was a 1st class passenger and was in lifeboat #6. She was 18 at the time.
Thank you so much, Ken!
I heard about the tragedy and saw the movie years ago such a sad story will have to search for it and watch it again another tragic story is the Titanic may they all rest in peace
Thank you so much for the comment!

Great video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I truly appreciate that. Thank you so very much!
I was almost a year old when the Marshall plane crash happened.
Thanks for sharing.
This was a fascinating episode. I had heard of the Marshall crash but I was barely 1 when it happened. Great movie though. That’s quite a life Mary lived. I hope she children and husbands are resting in peace. The excursion on the way is on par with a life well lived.
I always appreciate your insight, Greg. Thank you so much.
There is a titanic survivor buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond Va. Ever been to Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg Va? They have some graves dating back to the 1700s and maybe older
I’ve actually been to Hollywood and visiting the grave of the titanic survivor. I don’t know if it’s the same one you’re talking about or not, but the survivors that Mary Eloise married, is buried there.
@@Whittdocs yes that's the one. She married Robert Williams Daniel another survivor that was from Richmond.
You should check out Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg VA
@nicoleburton8092 I would love to.
I think she testified at the Senate investigation, and may have kept a diary during the voyage. I remember watching a couple of tv shows about the sinking, and she was quoted several times (as “Mrs. Lucien P. Smith).
I need to look that up. Thanks for the info!
Eloise, such a beautiful name. Does she have living descendents? Fantastic. Enjoying this channel very much. Blessings from Michigan.
I’m not sure if she has any descendants or not. I really appreciate you watching my channel.
We have the grave of Michael P. "Ty" Joseph at Resurrection Cemetery near us in Michigan. He was a baby who survived the Titanic.
Wow. I would love to visit.
Come on up! In Clinton Twp, Michigan
I didn't know anything about the plane crash till I moved here from Georgia so when I watched the movie it told me alot about WV and the people here
Thanks for watching.
Yep, it's another Whittdocs video. A Beginning & an End, & what's in between it's all good. 😊
Hello there! Thank you so much!
Looks like the mother lived longer than the daughter
I’m surprised her plot is so small.
Great video. Iwas 12 when the Marshall crash happened. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much.
I was married on April 15th everyone says that's a jinks day but it's been a good day for me, I feel bad for all the victims of the Titanic
Thanks for sharing that with us, Ronda.
2 of the players were from the town I live in, here in NJ.
Wow! Thanks for sharing that.
❤
Great video, thank you for sharing. Are you the one who wanted to know about some places in IL? I can't find your email to send you some places.
Yes I am. I’d love to hear more. Search whittdocs on Facebook.
I have heard about the plane crash and watched the movie "We Are Marshall" several times.
I appreciate your comment.. thank you
I have heard about the Marshall plane crash. I have seen the movie several times and it is very good.
I appreciate your comment.
I vaguely remember hearing of the Marshall plane crash and have not seen the film. But will now.
Perhaps Lucien Smith was the one Mary Eloise truly loved. And that's why Smith is on her grave marker. Could be she married several times hoping to replace that lost love.
I agree. It was probably her true love.
I watched the movie, we are marshall and my aunt lives in west Virginia, i was born in 86 so i wasnt born at the time but my parents do remeber (they were married in 72 but sadly both passed last year, 6 months from eachother), most my family is from the bethesda maryland/ washington d.c area (i was born in maryland bethesda at the naval hospital where they took jfk body, ive lived in florida since i was 2 tho, my parents didnt like the weather up there and my dad was a navy captain and served in the Vietnam war as a helicopter cobra pilot when he was only 18. Well, it wasn't common that Americans were on Titanic. Molly Brown was out of Colorado.
