Donnarumma is the MVP of this team
Saint Donnarumma 🙏😇
3 midfielders for sure. Fagioli needs to be one of them
lmaooooo no
jorginho already win some trophies so the hunger not in there anymore . just play anyone who want to prove themselves . you will get another type of energies
If you can’t see Jorginho is done … you’re either related to him or you’re just a personal fan of his and not the Azzurri.
Imagine having that last name though… 😐
Calafiori is very impressive. Him and donnarumma have been the stand outs
Darmian…
Calafiori did an own goal and lost us the Spain match, which they were killing us regardless, however a tie would have been better. I think he has a good career ahead of him, but he pales in comparison to Bastoni who's done a tremendous job for us. There is no contest between Bastoni and Calafiori
Bastoni
DiMarco has been disappointing as has Bastoni to an extent
@@Neoyorchese Bastoni on defense has scored, and none of our strikers have so far. He also had 2 very close headers in the last match against Croatia. He's been more effective than all their strikers combined, and his gameplay on defense has been solid
The problem is leadership on the pitch. We have eleven kids drawing strategy with a stick in the sand. If we can see the obvious flaws with the game plan, match ups and sub rotation. The question I'm asking, why doesn't Spalletti?
Because he is a serial loser
Because he’s a bad coach
@@chriszhang1660Then please explain how he turned Napoli into a great team. My first choice for the national team was the return of Conte. But why is Spalletti universally regarded as great? How did he pull off a title win at Napoli? Why did their offense function beautifully under him?
@@AD50697 Easy. Napoli turned to a better team mainly due to the good transfers they had made in the market. Stop asking the obvious.
SMH I don’t hear him being called “great”, at least not in older fans.
@@chriszhang1660 Stop being stupid. And arrogant. Many times collections of excellent players don't gel into a good team. Napoli played a creative, fluid game with great chemistry under Spalletti and were great tactically. That comes from coaching. Does the word of Pep Guardiola mean anything? He has said he considers Spalletti to be possibly the best in the world... an opinion shared by others in football. But I'm done talking to you. You sound like a cocky and insufferable ass.
You need Scamacca because of his hight for corner kicks and set pieces.
Just like Materazzi.
I haven't seen him even one aerial ball yet! His size is worthless cause he has no physicality and poor instincts. He's surely had his chances , only scoring 1 goal for the national team still.
Guy has been totally worthless up front. He’d be more useful as a sweeper. Christ it took Zaccagni 10 mins to score a crucial goal. Scamacca hasn’t got a shot on goal in 137mins.
Barella let us down!? 37km covered in 3 games, 2nd out of all players 90% + pass accuracy, box to box player, game for a tackle and scored a winner. Agree with some of the comments but that way off.
whats crazier than how Italys is misfiring and lucky right now is how France England Holland cant score or be easily upset. the 2nd tier teams like Denmark Switz, Slovenia, Romania, Austria are very tough. and yet we got the dream route on bracket. Spain Germany Portugal France are all on other side. if we can get by Swiss then it'll most likely be England in a rematch. then Austria Maybe Belgium. all teams we beat last time. Spaletti just has to get the right formation / players/ plan.
and we could grind our way to semifinals/finals
Let’s be honest, we’ve looked poor. Poor tactically, poor players, etc. Only stand outs for me is Donnarumma, Calafiori, and Barella & bastoni have played decent too.. I think we can do it against Switzerland but after that is a pipe dream…
Don't underestimate Switzerland; they won the Eurovision
If we start attacking early and maintain the intensity the whole game. We might have a chance. If we fall back into playing keep away, we'll lose. The Swiss are good.
Pipe dream? England might finish 2nd and we might play Denmark or Slov if we beat Swiss. Our bracket is weak
They played great defense yesterday.
Italy has played fine in 2 games and lost a game because of an own goal. Stop being negative.
FORZA ANTONIO!!
He's next level...
Grande Antonio… he know the squadra Azzurri the best on this panel!
Bastoni has been doing better than Calafiori. I think Mancini will get the start over Buongiorno. I agree DiLorenzo has to come out, although Chiesa isn't doing anything impressive, you need to go with someone who has the potential to score. I think the 2 striker system would be better with Retegui and Scamacca together. Zacagnia needs to be in there somewhere, we have to reward people who score. I also agree about taking out Jorginho, haven't seen anything impressive from him. I thought Italy would be in a comfortable lead, but history dictates Croatia has our number. This also extends to Switzerland, we have them beat historically, and I think we can do it again
When Chiesa gets the ball in a little bit of space he is fantastic. And a finisher. In three games, the Azzurri have not connected with Chiesa in space at all. They do nothing to free him up, and Spalletti is constantly screaming at him to move in closer to the middle of the offensive formation, knowing that he thrives out wide.
Ragazzi avete ragione, siete forti. Vi mando un abbraccio dall' Italia ed anche una bella teglia di lasagne con qualche boccia di Brunello di Montalcino
3-5-2 All these players play this system in Serie A
Donnarumma
Machini-Buongiorno-Bastoni
Bellanova-Fagoli-Jorghino-Barella-Dimarco
Scammaca-Zacchini/Cheisa
If Acerbi didn't get injured, Calafiori would have spent the entire tournament on the bench. Need to trust in the young players more.
Without Tonali, we loose passing ability and creativity.
Di Lorenzo and Pellegrini OUT! defense with Darmian, Bongiorno, Bastoni and Cambiaso; Mid with Jorginho, Barella, Fagioli; upfront with Chiesa, Retegui and Zaccagni; that's the starting lineup and then Spalletti can change with some of the youngsters that he brought there. Dimarco is injured and he wasn't even supposed to play the game against Croazia.
Yass, the team is the reflection of the coach. Thats why Jorginho and DiLorenzo will always go as starter.
Donnaruma is good if his defense line are also great. The problem is the build up from slow Jorginho. Fagioli is positioned as Jorginho backup. The more crucial the future game become, Jorginho is always priority in Spaletti's mind.
As long as Jorginho is the heart of the team, the gameplay will stay the same.
Fagioli will always be treated as newbie fresh from u23 team. Thats the calcio way. You can't force a horse to drink water lmao.
Imo DiMarco is more offensive minded player. I saw his quals game and he is not a calm defender. Slow build up causing him restrained. Frattesi who i consider an agressive player was also restrained. Cambiasso has same traits with same fate. Even Chiesa were stranded alone on his offensive phase lol
Expect more suffering. I just want my Juve roster coming home in 1 piece.
4-3-3 formation
Donnarumma
Darmian, Buongiorno, Bastoni, Di Marco
Barella, Fagioli, christante
Chiesa, Scamacca, Zaccagni
I agree, If we are going 433, then no scamacca is fine, but we need a targetman as striker with 3 in the back!
I agree with 4-3-3
Zaccagni-Retegui-Chiesa
Barella-Fagioli-Cristante
Dimarco-Bastoni-Buongiorno-DiLo
If you want to compare with Spaletti’s Napoli.
Kvara-Osimehen-Politano (very similar to Italy front three in terms of what they provide)
Zilu-Lobotka-Frank (again similar player for player)
Mario-Kim-Rharmani-DiLo (I’d say Italy’s is even better)
Y’all need to take your Napoli hating glasses off. What more did you want Spaletti to do with 3 months of prep time and a team that’s played 5 games together max before the start of the tournament.
seriously. it's not like italy has been great before spaletti either
Play Darmian instead of Di Lo. rest I agree.
Yeah I don't get all the negativity against Italy. I think they look pretty strong to me, all things considered. They need a little time to grow, and they will!
You guys keep ripping on Spaletti but our midfielders and forwards have been garbage
It’s both. But they’re right to hate on Spalletti rn. The midfield is what it is bc of Spalletti’s choices. Btwn his tactics, formations, squad selections, the substitutions (who he’s subbing in and when), etc. he has been a total head case. I love Spalletti and what he did with Napoli and yes, he was thrown in a very very tough situation. That said, we should be doing better than this. Our team is very limited but we need to be doing better than this. There is also a total lack of leadership on the field outside of Donnarumma and Barella. Look at what conte did in 2016. He took an arguably worse team and brought them together and got them to fight far into the tournament. Our group stage was also wrapped up in the first two games. There was none of this shit or like what happened under Trappatoni (which was inexcusable, btw, with the amount of talent those Italy sides had). All of that said, I’d stick with Spalletti for a while longer. See how he does when he has some time to build his team. If after another year we are still playing abysmally, then sack him w enough time to give the next manager time to prep for the WC. But I hope he gets it together and wakes up. The team is beyond mediocre, but the way they’ve been playing has absolutely been a reflection of the coach.
Forza Italia
This team plays like 11 players who were first introduced to each other 15 minutes ago. They look nothing like a team. Antonio Conte - Italy's best coach - is absolutely right: Serie A does not play enough young native Italians... AND... Serie A does not make it viable for their Italian players to spend enough practice time away from their clubs and with the Nazionale. Until that happens things will not improve. The Spanish and German teams are national All-star teams also; so why do they play with all the cohesion and chemistry of club teams that have been together for years while Italy plays like a collection of strangers?
If they stick with a 5-man defence, I'd have El Shaarawy at RWB, he was a beast against Theo & Leao in the Europa league games vs Milan
The line up for next game should be a 4-3-3: Donnarumma; Bellanova, Mancini, Bastoni, Dimarco; Frattesi, Fagioli, Barella; Chiesa, Scamacca, Zaccagni
I don't think Spalletti is lost, he just simply has a crappy team on hand. In terms of talent, this is the worst talented team Italy has ever had.
2016 is worse. Our team is just extremely young.
@@prestigeshogun1534 No that team in terms of talent was better, just the defense alone destroys what we have right now. The coach was bad, but individually they were better than this team.
@@filb Antonio Conte wasn’t bad 💀 and yes, that team all around was worse. Zaza, Pelle, Giaccherini, Parolo, cmon now.
@@prestigeshogun1534 I was thinking of Ventura, you're right it was Conte. But remember that they had the BBC defense which was superior to our current defenders and they had Insigne and De Rossi at least. Up front, this current edition is just as bad that 2016 team, I'd argue that it's even worse.
@@prestigeshogun1534no way. The 2916 team was bad but still better than this. If it weren’t for 2 awful pks from Zara and Pelle we mighta reached the finals then. The team we have now is on par with Serbia
I would go for 433, Donnarumma, DiMarco,Basoni,Gatti, Darmian, Fagioli, Jorginho, Barella, Zaccagni, Raspadori and Chiesa
Switzerland is a very strong team. They beat france in the last euro
They just drawn against a strong germany
They went to the world cup ahead of italy in the qualifiers
The only European nation currently on a longer run than Switzerland of reaching the knockout stages at major tournaments (six in a row) is France (seven)
However, they also can get beaten 6:1 by portugal if they have a bad day.
I would say it is 50/50
Marotta, Ceferin and their puppet Gravina will lead you to the final, sadly.
We are playing Switzerland. They stopped Italy from qualifying for the World Cup. Sommer and Akanji will make it even more difficult for us. We need to be more technical in front in order to outsmart the Swiss defence. I'd say start Scamacca for his hold-up play. Chiesa on the left and Pellegrini on the right. Raspadori could also start on the right wing as an experiment. Barella needs to rest, but we need him in this game with Fagioli and Jorginho. Start Foluronsho and then bring on Barella in the second half if Folorunsho isn't working. The players have to be willing to make the runs and create chances. Scamacca's goal contribution is nonexistent, so the wingers have to compensate for that. This game will probably be tougher than Croatia, but we can win it if everyone's head is in the game. The tempo will be high, so Italy have a lot of work to do to beat Switzerland. Above all, no penalties for Jorginho. Sommer is too smart for any hop skip penalty kicks.
Oh well 😂
@CMJames for sure lmao everything I said did not happen
4-3-3
donnaruma
dimarco buongiorno bastoni cambiasso
barella jorginho fagioli
chiesa scamacca zaccagni
Perfect lineup💪
Put on Raspadori to start and sub Zaccagni in later and have Bellanova for Dimarco who is not playing well. That is a killer lineup for me.
Call me crazy but I watched parts of the Georgia - Portugal game while at work and I saw Georgia went with a 5 3 2 and wondered if it would work for Italy? Food for thought perhaps? I could be wrong but I’d love to hear people’s thoughts on whether or not it could work and why it can or can’t work!
The defenders need to step up their game and help Donnarumma, they let attackers in too easily in the box, it happened with Albania and Croatia. The old timers of 2006 would never let any player get that close to their keeper. Where the hell were the defenders when Modric was right in front of the Goal alone grabbing the rebound and scoring. They also need to score the first goal and get the momentum right from the start and not always play catch up game. Keep possession of the ball and not clearing the ball so easily and giving it away to the opponent. Also watch the handballs to not give the other team an easy penalty kick. They need to watch how Cannavaro, Chiellini and Bonucci played Defense. Yes you need a tall guy in front for the headers like Scamacca. If i was Spaletti i would play the 4-3-3 formation.
Dimarco my biggest disappointment. And Frattesi. Dimarco I was expecting big things. What a flop.
Fagioli and barella! are a must
Di lorenzo di lorenzo, what about di Marco he's dead
Dimarco get him off.. He gave away the ball after the Pen and Croatia scored. Stuffed up 2 goals already..

He's coming. He is just a little too young still. Pafundi will eventually be that guy.
Donnarumma is absolutely embarrassing with his feet. Shot Stopping isn't everything
Give him his flowers for this tournament though. He’s without question been the top goalkeeper at this Euro.
Bastoni has been good. Donnarumma, Calafiori and id put Bastoni in there too. He's been good.
Donnarumma is the number 10 😆lmao I love that
Knowing Spalletti he will start Jorghino and Cristante and sit back all game. This team had offenseinve weapons. Use them. Spalletti and Southgate seem like they dont have a clue what they are doing with their players.
It actually pisses me off that Mike has no ball knowledge 😂😂

Darmian Buongiorno Bastoni Di Marco
Barella Jorginho Fagioli
Zaccagni Scamacca Chiesa
need to play a stronger midfield and a 10 that pushes closer to scamacca. you need to get runners closer to scamacca bc he and play them in.
Y’all have to stop hating on Di Lorenzo, who are you replacing him with?😂 he’s better than cambiasso…Retegui was so much better than Scamaca, Retegui won fouls, won balls, actually wanted to bring the ball to the net.
Maybe Bellanova
He has been very mediocre and has said so himself. He needs to be replaced.
I can't blame Spalleti entirely. I hope Italy will learn from their mistakes in knockout.
Man, I disagree with most here. I think Italy fought until their last breath and got the result. This formation change looked better and I think Spalletti did well. His body language is fine to me. Forza Azzurri! Believe, guys! Let's go!
Let's remember that apart from Spain we are not seeing great football in general
Verratti isn’t looking too bad rn ……
Y'all kinda looked like England out there

3 in midfield way to go.. Barella, Jorginho, Fagioli.
Stop watching soccer please do everyone a favor
Zaccagni - Chiesa we obviously agree. But to make the definitive change: Fagioli in place of Jorginho. Fagioli is the only other talent Italy has in midfield besides Barella.
You don't look very confident against Xhaka Ankanji , Bolognese and Co !
Italy will win!! If they dont play Jorgi, di lorenzo and pellegrini
Id rather play with a man down, over having jorginho on the field.
We beat Switzerland in penalties and then lose in the quarters.
Jorghino has destroyed the Italian team for years now. He is a poor defender in the middle of the field, does not win any balls and slows everything down to a stand still. His opponents always play well against him because he is a small obstacle. This is where Tonali could have been a big difference maker. Even Veratti could have been a better option.
They tied the game and played great defense. Stop crying.
Darmian way better than Dilorenzo!
Raspadori Chiesa zaccagni in the front. Scamacca is a waste of time
