My grandmother sells toast very cheaply and deliciously for a long time. (Price 2000 won / 1.8 USD)
Now the daughter-in-law is replacing her work and her grandmother is helping her.

I love that people of her age still make an effort to "work" or just be out of the house. This is very healthy for them. It stimulates their brain and helps avoid stiff joints. I would just buy from them because 1). I support them coming out to feed the community 2). Witness a strong woman.

I agree with your comment, would be great if this was her motivation for her to be working there at such an age. However, I also belief there is a large community of elderly in South Korea that have trouble to get by. So some are still working simply to survive
You can go sell bread when you like this old, I bet is healthy for you too. But when I turn like this old I would like to siting on my lovely sofa and watching tv and have my tea, thanks.

I think it's beautiful that she still holds on to traditional cooking. Exotic food makes this world what it is unique with so much to offer. I find it to be a gift. Older generation are precious so is their recipes.🙏

It's a simple recipe but grandma is there to ensure her touch. It's called food with a touch of love.
I lived in Korea for one year. The grandmothers were very inquisitive of my locs and would stop me on the street to ask questions.They were very polite and intrigued. It was like I was an ambassador for locs to them. I will always cherish those moments. I really want to go back and visit. I’d like to try this Street Food then. It looks yummy!

Omg all these ppl complaining about ketchup and sugar combo...the lady in the video doesn’t even put that much! It is way less than the sugar you consume from a bottle of soda. Also, it is not a weird combo at all. Many Koreans grew up eating ketchup and sugar on corn dogs and the kind of sandwichshown in the video. Just because you never had it or seen it before, don’t call it weird or yucky. Be respectful to other cultures.
i think she puts only i tablespoon of sugar, and some people drinking coffee in large quantity using the same spoon, not to mention on their another meals
well if you check your ketchup bottle at home you'll see that its allready realy sugary - unless stated otherwise - even up to 30g per 100g of ketchup
but i assume that this ketchup isnt as sugary to begin with so it will end up close to other ketchups around the world
I'm sure whoever said that needs to go out more. Anyone would know if dont want any sugar or ketchup on the food can simply ask the lady boss ahead to solve this problem. I thought this is a common sense...?

I was wondering if that was sugar and ketchup being placed on top! It looks simple and delicious but, yes, I would probably request no sugar/ketchup to be added as well :)
@@Janexcalibur I think maybe the sugar and ketchup is meant to bring out the flavor of all that cabbage. It looks like the egg and cabbage mixture is plain without any seasoning. It's not too far off the wall if you think about how Americans make Cole slaw with mayo. Personally, I would not have so much sugar and ketchup though.

I remember how my grandma used to make me this every other day when I would go to pre-k... I always threw it out because I thought it was too sweet and when I told my grandma that I would throw it out she was really sad because a lot of times the pans we used were too heavy for her to lift so sometimes she would burn herself or burn the counter and she would get yelled at by my parents. But this video really hit a nostalgic part in my and I just remembered the great childhood that my grandma provided for me. And also, she is not dead, she is in a nursing home, but she can’t walk, so she is confined to a wheelchair and I go to visit her ever other day.

So many people in the comments talking about the sugar, like ya'll don't drink a frappu-mcdiabetes-cino on the regular. Many Korean sandwiches have sugar added on to it. Ketchup is a pretty popular condiment on these types of sandwiches. She used one tablespoon people, most of the food you eat in America comes with more that you can't see. Some of you are so rude and quick to judge because it's different from what you're used to.

This sandwich has an identity crisis, it looks healthy due to the main component of having shredded cabbage and small amounts of carrots, but at the same time it has was cooked in melted goody margarine, its finishing condiments are a scoop of sugar and ketchup (some even put mustard) which makes it fatty sinful. Did we reached the perfect balance of sinful and healthy?

I am Chinese and I put sugar on white bread after buttering it and I toast it. Granddad fave food. I understand that some might feel it is a tad too much in the video but I believe you can ask them for less sugar. Also, the heat from the fresh vege pancake will melt the sugar giving it a caramel-like taste.
Can't wait to try these, when I finally go to Korea in a few years.
