I've heard a lot of people sing this song - but this is indeed the best version I've heard. I didn't realize it was such a good song until I heard Sarah Jarosz singing it!
💯 Absolutely love this- she has performed /w another prodigy fav of mine, Sierra Hull. I MUST see another incredible 🎨 artist that's creating quite a stir, and that's Molly Tuttle oh--- my---- word! You simply need to check this Lady's performances, she's got this technique called " claw-hammer" pickin' that defies description, Peace out from ETn, Smoky Mtn. area🏔💁♀️
It floors me that she can just sit in with herself and a mandola and not only execute flawlessly, but feel it. Rhythm, moving bass notes, leads, without losing control of her singing. More than a gift. She's a treasure of entelechy.
I like that she heads toward the lower end of the musical spectrum in terms of instrumentation. The bass-ey rumble of a mandocello or a Mandola, or an octave guitar, allows her voice to shine by way of contrast. She’s a hell of a yodeler too.
I heard her sing this in Dublin & Glasgow. Both places-Perfect delivery, perfect diction, perfect picking. What a wonderful talent. She makes it look easy. A joy.
How does a girl whose barely into her 20's sing with the soul and passion of a 60 year old lifetime musician? I don't know, but I can't stop playing this young ladies music... Can't wait to try and catch a live show!
I love the little things that happen in passing with an artist like Sarah: the glimpse of a private smile at a chord resolution done cleanly that she enjoys every time it comes around; bending a note vocally when it's right in her sweet spot and adds just what she wants it to add emotionally, yeah, the little stuff that make up a great artist and a a great performance!!!
My wife and I just saw Sarah play in her home town last night. She and her husband killed it as well as you hear this video today. For the lines are long and the fighting is strong, and they're breaking down the distance between right and wrong. Ring them bells.
One of the few artists who brings something extra to a live performance: that little tweek, the small inflection change that makes the song fresh and even more powerful. "Ring them bells St. Catherine from the TOP OF the roof..." 💖
Such power and nuance from such a young woman. I never jump at these kinds of pronouncements but I'm proud to live in the same area where her talent blossomed. She's carrying a little piece of the Texas Hill Country all over the globe.
I was gonna go with "play that back in your head one time" but just went somewhat more directly for the jugular. She is quite good, isn't she. I've been getting into the mandolin for a few years, but she sort of expands from that point.
loving the instrument, loving the playing, the voice, the song awesome. Nice to see young people doing something that connects to where we came from creatively culturally and taking it forward.
Very glad Sarah covered this little known song by Bob Dylan . She brings vibrancy to the words that are still applicable today as they were written years ago . Songs get carried through generations by young voices such as Sarah's . Peter behind my Judy .
rats! It won't count when I like and unlike to add likes to this! 35,744 plays and not one dislike! 367 likes :) I absolutely love this! Sarah J is an exceptional artist. So young, I'll be listening for a long time to see the growth. Wow, where she might go.
She did this on Prairie Home Companion tonight and I just about cried. Joan Baez still does the best version in my mind, but this girl is classy and has it nailed!! I live and operate a studio in Nashville. Perhaps one day I will come across something as amazing as this!!!
+Tommy Donahue That is called a Mandocello ;) An octave mandolin is just a mandolin one octave lower than a standard one. This one is two octaves lower than the standard mandolin ;) At least that was what the person that teaches my group on it's rehearsals. :)
One of Dylans best songs and one that, I dare to say, no one else could've written. Sarah makes i even better with a wonferful delivery. Happy I found this.
well done young woman. you're a giver. I must thank you if I can. with most sincere applause. I know bob wrote the song, but you have perfected it. he found the diamond, you cut it.
Simply the best rendition of this song I have ever heard, amazing, I am sure old Bob, would be very proud, you insure his music will continue to the next generation. I am an absolute fan. Continued sucess.
I fell in love with this Lady when she followed Steve Martin on Austin CL. she has so much heart and soul, so deep for such a young lady. Have a long healthy career sweetheart.
I've heard a lot of people sing this song - but this is indeed the best version I've heard. I didn't realize it was such a good song until I heard Sarah Jarosz singing it!
Amen...Sara,Sarah,and ms. O donavon..damn...

Nah, Joan Baez sings the definitive version of this song.
I really like this🎶💛🤗
Yeah, this one is the best I've heard.
Sarah Jarosz makes this world a much more beautiful place.
SO SO TRUE!
Its true Sara Jarosz is so real
Very Angelic Voice,just amazing
She's an American treasure.
As good as it gets.
Sarah Jarosz is such a gift to the world
Amen. Her voice is amazing. The guitar playing is worthy, and the song is great
It floors me that she can just sit in with herself and a mandola and not only execute flawlessly, but feel it. Rhythm, moving bass notes, leads, without losing control of her singing. More than a gift. She's a treasure of entelechy.
entelechy. serious? lol
It's actually an octave mandolin she's playing here - but other than that, I agree. She's amazing
@@daviddedominici1705. I believe it’s a mandocello body, strung and tuned as an octave mandolin. It has longer sustain and strums more like a guitar.
@writepg Ohhh! Okay - that's awesome
I like that she heads toward the lower end of the musical spectrum in terms of instrumentation. The bass-ey rumble of a mandocello or a Mandola, or an octave guitar, allows her voice to shine by way of contrast. She’s a hell of a yodeler too.
One of my favorite Dylan songs, becomes transcendent in Sarah's hands. And oh! That voice. Chills and tears all at once.
I've heard several versions of this song but Sarah Jarosz really owns it here. Beautifully done.
you just did the greatest songwriter of all time proud
I heard her sing this in Dublin & Glasgow. Both places-Perfect delivery, perfect diction, perfect picking. What a wonderful talent. She makes it look easy. A joy.

Ugh

For the lines are long and the fighting is strong, and they're breaking down the distance between right and wrong. Ring them bells.
Flawless performance. I think my favorite way to hear her is just her and that octave mandolin in an intimate live setting, like this.
One of the few artists who brings something extra to a live performance: that little tweek, the small inflection change that makes the song fresh and even more powerful. "Ring them bells St. Catherine from the TOP OF the roof..." 💖
Beautiful.
I can only imagine how much work she puts into sounding this good. Natural talent helps too... this girl has plenty. Bravo!
She is so unbelievably good that my head starts spinning
No yelling and screaming, just Sarah and her guitar...so awesome
Octave mandolin, not guitar.
Best version by a country mile. Never get sick of listening to this.
Such power and nuance from such a young woman. I never jump at these kinds of pronouncements but I'm proud to live in the same area where her talent blossomed. She's carrying a little piece of the Texas Hill Country all over the globe.
Seen Sarah live.
Went home speechless.
Truly awesome.
Wow! This old guitar teacher just fell in love. Congratulations young lady. :)
I'm sure she's bursting with gratitude ;-)
I meant congratulations with her success, I realize what it sounded like, but thanks for showing my ass.
I was gonna go with "play that back in your head one time" but just went somewhat more directly for the jugular. She is quite good, isn't she. I've been getting into the mandolin for a few years, but she sort of expands from that point.
She's not playing a guitar...
The edge in Sarah's voice is just right to balance the beautiful sound with the darkness of the lyrics.
It's kids like that who give me hope for the future generations.
I can NOT stop listening to this. The song, the songstress...what a combo. Ring them bells!
I always forget to breathe when she's singin'.
Yup, shes amazing
Oh man! You got it right. She's just, just, well you know.
That's awesome man :)
perfectly said, shes special
THAT is good writing... ✍🏻
Such a natural talent. Much love and respect for Sarah Jarosz.
Tears. Sarah gives me hope for the world and takes away my pain. This is a thing of beauty.
I keep coming back to this. Beautiful song for a beautiful voice. Thanks for sharing.
It's always amazing how real artists fall in love with playing music
Great cover by great musicians of a brilliant song ! Thanks so much!
Top shelf
loving the instrument, loving the playing, the voice, the song awesome. Nice to see young people doing something that connects to where we came from creatively culturally and taking it forward.
Wonderful. Sarah is the gift that just keeps giving.

When you combine an amazing song with a talented artist, you get something amazing like this. Wow, just wow.
Elegant and understated....and frighteningly more relevant today than when it was written....
I've already listened to this four times today. She has a beautiful voice and can play that mandolin like nobody's business.
rats! It won't count when I like and unlike to add likes to this! 35,744 plays and not one dislike! 367 likes :) I absolutely love this! Sarah J is an exceptional artist. So young, I'll be listening for a long time to see the growth. Wow, where she might go.
Still brings the goosebumps. Amazing performance!
"
"and the mountains are filled with lost sheep..." great image.
Thanks Bob for your wonderful songs
And let Sarah sing them ...
Greetings from Switzerland
Right on.
The Best from Chicago.
I need this song in my life pretty regularly.
So beautiful i'm sad that youtube doesn't have a LOVE THIS icon. That instrument is a gift from heaven in her hands...
Wow, I think my mouth hung open until the last note! I feel like I just unwrapped a really beautiful gift....
She did this on Prairie Home Companion tonight and I just about cried. Joan Baez still does the best version in my mind, but this girl is classy and has it nailed!! I live and operate a studio in Nashville. Perhaps one day I will come across something as amazing as this!!!
Sarah is the real deal.....!!! Amazing...
Bob never ceases to amaze me with his magic.
This is beautiful. Applause from the UK

Brought tears in Greenville SC. What a show. Thanks !
Best version of this song I have ever heard. By far.
gorgeous playing on octave mandolin.
And a beautiful voice too...thanks for sharing.
I was wondering what that was
Sarah Jarosz is one of the most talented young singer-songwriter-musicians in the Armericana genre today. Take a listen. Enjoy!
Thanks Sarah for this rendition
Gave me the chills.. Beautiful rendition.
+Tommy Donahue do you know what instrument she is playing?

Sarah is Maria -she unites and keeps! bless!
I don't know of any song by anyone done as well as this. Magic!
I just discovered this lady tonight. I really don't understand how I never heard her before!! Amazing, I just love her :)
I may listen to others... but when I long to be soothed and delighted, I always come back around to you.
New Zealand salutes her (and Bob of course)
!!
Must be angel from heaven. How could anyone not like Sarah Jarosz?
How did that just happen? .... Did it just happen? exquisite.
Just jawdroppingly awesome.
she sings with such ease. I can really hear the clarity and beauty of the song when she sings
Sarah, you stunned me last night, in N. C., at the Haw River Ballroom- thank you for a new blessing for all music lovers- great!
she always plays with passion.. surprised i've not heard her on the radio yet
This is a vid I watch over and over. Such a great interpretation. Her delivery really allows the beauty of the words to sink in.
Me too Mynamis, she is quite something eh.
I was thinking the same thing,,, Bobby D is such a gift but the clear voice of Sarah illuminates the lyrics!
I can’t ever get enough of this song when she sings it. Tears and goosebumps every time. So gorgeous.
well done young woman. you're a giver. I must thank you if I can. with most sincere applause. I know bob wrote the song, but you have perfected it. he found the diamond, you cut it.
Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo & a voice of Angelic quality YOU CANNOT RESIST ! Play sweet wench ... we are yours to behold this beautiful sound !!! GBjj
Simply the best rendition of this song I have ever heard, amazing, I am sure old Bob, would be very proud, you insure his music will continue to the next generation. I am an absolute fan.
Continued sucess.
How did I not know about her until today. A major talent and now one of my favourites! Thank you, Paul Krigman.
Powerful version of this Dylan song. Love her records. Now I'm coveting a baritone mando--that thing sounds incredible.
Love the brightness of the guitar and all around couldn't ask for a better cover really good
Not a guitar. Bouzouki.
Wow....beautiful!
her music seems raw, and watching it, seems like she plays because she loves to play... cannot beat that
Just stumbled on this video. Amazing and haunting! What an amazing talent!!
Such a perfect match up of vocal style, the masterful arrangement, the playing and the lyrics!
She's so beautiful!
Simply beautiful and stunning song!
I fell in love with this Lady when she followed Steve Martin on Austin CL. she has so much heart and soul, so deep for such a young
lady. Have a long healthy career sweetheart.
Brilliant ... love this Sarah... Lovely
Beautiful. Thank You, Sarah.
Beautifully done.
Sarah, as always - just absolute purity and so authentic!!
Just wow!!! Going to see her in February with her trio "I'm With Her" and I cannot wait. Sarah is just so amazing.
Our hometown girl just won a Grammy this past weekend Yippi !! Sarah !!
Those four Grammys Billie Eilish won? Sarah should have won those too. She's actually a musician.
It really does not get better than this. I've checked...
Beautiful...both her singing and playing.
Goosebumps and tears... Thank you, Sarah, you are a phenomenally talented beauty!
Sarah you are amazing!
extremely proud to say that i got to watch 2 of her live performances one of them being getting to work with her with my english one class :))))
