✨✨🌷🐢 Thank you Theseventyseven77 🌷🐢✨✨
Billys good but not that good lol. Someone else was on drums. Great F ing show!
No, that was really Bill. He used to be good.
Nope , he was that freaking good.
Anyone sleeping on the 71 dead shows need to listen again to these gems. The band getting after it with that rambling piano and Garcia’s smoking licks. Thank You
69 to 74 is gold
71 rocks!!! All the new tunes...it defined the GD songbook, essentially
Im starting to really dig the 71 sound. Im love 73 but 71 has that primal sound the good ol days🌹⚡🌹⚡🌹
Keith's 3rd show. Loved Pig and Brent but Keith's piano playing really added something different and fresh imo. At least until the last year or so. Another great sounding show. Thanks for always posting such good stuff 77
BigTIme TOP HEAVY for Keith but rather skillful in that he was only few gigs PLAYING IN THE BAND ....😄.
Couldn't have said it better, dead on.
Love the Keith years. That’s the GD i hear in my head.
This is one of my favorite shows because of Keith. The Bertha is 🔥
The way he gallops through the changes of The Other One is an exhilarating moment for the band everything was just right
This is IT!!!! Thank you 77 for this drop of awesome sonic grooviness!!! I love the Cryptical/Other One in the second set. Nice artwork too. Veryyy cool stuffs - yes indeedy. I'm extremely Grateful 💀🌹🥀🎵🎶🎸🎹🥁🍄⚡🤙🤙👌👍🤯😁👽❤️ NFA
My first dead show was 6 months later at the Hollywood bowl in April of '72. The first and last time I got to see 'em with pigpen - he got too sick to play with 'em after that and died the following year. What a cryin' shame. We still love you pigpen!
Thank you for a sweet birthday gift! 54 years today and still kickin' it- thanks, in part, to people like you! Your efforts are very much appreciated.😘
Happy Birthday to You! on this very special day... marking the beginning of Autumn 🍁.... just thinking out loud:... Dude, it must be a trip being born on the equinox 🌌... have a good one... enjoy the day and night.... cuz as you know that they're the closest to being the same amount of duration of light (~=hours of🌞&🌉)... Cheers my fellow Head!!!! ✨
"Me and Bobby McGee" is such an indescribably sad song. What should have been a song about liberation and transcendence winds up being a song about loss and regret. Every time I hear it, I always feel hollow and empty by the end.
Venue trivia: The Auditorium Theater is inside the Auditorium Building, designed by Louis Sullivan (along with Dankmar Adler) who was a mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright himself worked on some of the interior plans. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming!
I studied interior design and Louis Sullivan is one of my favorites! Of course along with Wright and Adler too
Surrounding the Theatre is the original building of Roosevelt University. My brother was a student there, and we went up to the sixth floor of the school and knocked on the Theatre’s fire exit, and a patron let us in. Plenty of seating in that era, too. And there I was, my first Dead show! Thank you!
Wow .how many time did dead play here . must of sounded awesome being there ..
Wow, “That’s It For The Other One” is on point!! Beautiful!
LOVE THE RAW, GRITTY HIGH ENERGY HERE.... JERRY LIVES! THE DEAD LIVE ON... NFA

Sound quality amazing....... thanks man!
The Fall 71 tour is second to none in Grateful Dead history...
This is the first show I've heard with this exact lineup, been a fan of these guys since late 80's. I used to associate this band by year, now I assess them by tour as this is much different than the 'skull and roses' stuff from April.
They were a tight five man unit, but it's hard to get past Pig not being in the mix. That took the whole blues thing out of the rotation for a bit.
Mebbe but 77 ain't no joke
@@robertjack4329 Keith was really coming into his own .
Have listened to the grateful dead since 1966 lost track of how many shows i hitch hiked to
My very first show!!!
So jealous, just found it! If I had told you on your way into the show, that 52 years later strangers on the internet, who hadn't been born yet, would be on the edge of their seats, feeling every note, could you have ever believed that?
@@dansweeney9377 No way!! Still blown away by the ability to watch a live show from the comfort of home. Not the same, but still … 😱😎
@@dansweeney9377 And I was just trying in vain to remember entering the awesome venue for this show. I’d gotten a ticket only because someone cancelled and had not been aware of the Dead previously, even though my older sister was a deadhead … (sidebar: think the ability to connect with the music is genetic, involving Dead receptor sites in the brain ;)… and I was tagging along with friends of a friend.
They all were extremely bored by the show, with one falling asleep, while I found God. The rest is history, including lots and lots of Dead shows!! 🌹⚡️💀
That Tennessee Jed is 🔥 🌹💀⚡️⚜️
N as ALWAYS!! LOVIN THE ARTWORK !! 😇😇🎩😇😇
Well once again!!! You have blown my roof off my house!!! Thank you!!! Blasting it!!! Love our 77

Clocks are running late. You know where.
@@hashburystumble8808 Hashish... are you on Scotland's timecoast beach???.... Maybe me and EllesDee will join you?.. and yes, her name is EllesDee... and all the E's are silent 😏
I've been having so much fun witnessing what Dead and Company are doing right now, but I miss Jerry's emotive voice so much. This era was so incredible.
My long and strange trip with the Dead started listening to a 71 concert on a daily jogging... Tks 77
What a fantastic set ! What was that ? A three hour, four hour, show ? Good choice. Sounds like an early board, the quality is pretty good. Who was recording and working the board back then ? Was that Owsley ? Somebody ? Anybody ? Thank you.
Jerry is God. LSD saves.

If this is the show I was at , it ran close to 4 hours. We sat in the 1st balcony. Great sound in that venue.
And I could be wrong but I m sure Pig Pen sang and played a few songs ( harmonica). It was a dark and foggy night 49 years ago !
Unfortunately, Pigpen was sick recovering back home in SF. Bob mentions it at 28:18
@@theseventyseven thanks. I posted way before hearing the announcement.
I am digging your "new" releases. This was a tough time for the GD with Pig fading away and the band still playing but missing their brother, half the time. YOU bringing these shows to us is fucking AWESOME. Sincerely,I say THANK YOU 77.
there was a short few months in '71 from february to october post-mickey pre-keith when it was the core 5 and those shows really ripped where weir wasn't overshadowed by the piano ... perfectly captured in the fillmore east shows in april ... plus so many new songs were rolling out of the shed...
A pinnacle for sure
Smokin show!!
Ok yet again today im late for the party thank you for this grate show
The most intense Other One I ever heard in person. Every listen sounds different than the Other Ones!
ooooh this TOO is getting me through the morning...
Great .Thanks so much .. Big fan of the 69 - 71 era ..fatter sound.. early Keith .. Thanks again ..
Rich full sound on this one! Leading into 72 with lightning⚡🌹⚡🌹
This Black Peter is heavenly...
😎 🚬
Love it. Allot of young songs still learning to walk.
lots of interesting green iterations
Thank you sooo much for these shows! I was only 8 for this one 🤣💀🙃.
Shoot. I didn't know they played two nights at the Auditorium in 71. I was born on the 21st, less than 10 miles away. Was this one radio broadcast as well?
The first night was recorded but broadcast on the 22nd, during this show, on WGLD FM I believe Local musician union wouldn't allow a live performance to be broadcast as it was played for some archaic reason.
Man this IS superb 👍👍
Well Said My FRIEND⚡🎶✨🎸🎩🎶⚡🌹✨

Damn right it is. Dougie Connor. Edinburgh Scotland. Dead Head since 1970.
I have to agree the fall 71 tour is fantastic
Superb⚡🌹⚡🌹
Where is Donna? I thought Pigpen made it to Europe 72 and went home sick? Anybody care to explain.
just another fantastic recording by 77....easy to be complacent, but all of these posts add to the fabric of our memories, appreciation, and understanding of this band...they also swing and rock!....ty 77

The sound quality is superb here, was this recording from the sound board or an independent recorder?
Yeah, man. Rex Jackson recorded it straight from the soundboard onto reel-to-reel tapes and later it was transferred, edited and then mastered for CD.
I was not at this one 77 but sure as your born saw many shows from 77 on
Maybe that is all billy. 😲
Great show sound
Best Cold Rain Snow ? I'll buy it
Great sound and many many thanks 77!!!
Fantastic show! Thank you so much!! 🙂
The piano on Bertha prevents me from lowering to a sitting position...amazeballs!
Great stuff. Then Keith says guys I'm delighted to be here but can we put me down in the mix going forward

COOKIN
Cookin
"Let's have a big hand for the key of G!"
Ha. As if the entire library of any musician through that organic era played more than one key. Willie's "A" major...Santana's latin E pentatonics...even BB Kings minor pentatonic solos.....that was okay then.
No Pig. Wonder why?
28:18
@@theseventyseven Bobby said he was sidelined the whole tour. Enter Kieth.
I love the spring/summer ‘71 shows. The Holy Quartet!
This is my first listen to this show. I’m only at Jack Straw and I have to say the energy is hot.
Edit: those Pigpen sounding keyboards at the end of Playin’ is a bit nutty.
According to the Keith Godchaux Wikipedia stub, Pig was hospitalized at some point prior to Fall 71 tour and was recuperating.
Kind of equate '71 live shows like '95 phish shows. I'm an old Deadhead so forgive me traditionalists....
It was balls out Rock 'n Roll.
93 phish is the comparison. Though I did see their “Cornell 77 show” I would compare it like that. Vail. March of 93. 95 phish was decent. After Jerry died it was the purge. No one had anywhere else to go that’s how phish got so big. Phishead s would walk
Out of shows into convenience stores by the boards and lift everything in the place in 3 minutes flat and no one could do anything there were so many phish kids under the umbrella of so many deadheads trying to still meet up. Honestly nothing in this world but bands from the San Fran scene come close to the late 60’s -mid 70’s of the dead. No band has ever had this energy I know of. Not this psychedelic st least. Maybe wild and crazy but not this polished that early on. I’m thinking from Pink Floyd to talking heads to beastie boys to the disco biscuits to sic to sap. I can’t think of a band that was so tuned up out the gate and put together
Am super not here or into promoting phish but sometime check out 93 Dobson skating rink vail David Bowie. It’s posted as stand alone and I think it’s maybe the best thing that band ever played. Ever.
