To just sit down and have a cuppa with guy would be a privilege... What a decent bloke 🏴
I wouldn't have the balls for that. What a legend.
Did anyone notice the little green toy 'frog' (Sharon's good luck charm) being added with the weights?
Sick 😁 am I the only one who looks for a part 2 when it's not even been recorded yet 🤣
lol
You do realize this is old footage don't you ? , its from 2016, everything on this channel is old.

This is such epic content! Awesome Guy!
love a shed that size for all my toys
I envisioned this back when I was a student. I did the math and it seemed it could work. Still a dream to be able to just pick up some bike and fly around and bike a tiny bit faster than normal, while being unrestrained by roads or bike paths.

what is the material for the airship envelope
Can you use atmospheric water collectors to balance the weight in flight? The collectors will capture water from the air when more weight is needed, and dump water when the pilot wants the ship to ascend.
Maybe a peltier-solar panel cells combination
@Drew Peacock Unfortunatelly i have not a link with details. It is just an idea. Have you heard about peltier cells? well, tose are thermoelectric devices that can turn heat into electricity and viceversa. Are found in small refrigerators they are fed by dc current, are flat and have two faces. When connected to dc current, one face gets cold and the other gets hot. Converselly, if you create a temperature differential between faces, you can have electric potential between terminals. As they are dc elements, can be fed with solar panels wich are dc too. Could be impractical as the water ballast requiered may not be created in a timely manner
I Dreamed About this
Expert blimp was huge like normal one
I wonder if it is possible to create a zepplin/airship filled with gas ions in a vessel that were repelled by a centrally located electrode thus creating a artificial gas pressure that exceeds the limits of the ideal gas law in regards to density and displacement. I am not knowledgeable enough to know if it would work though.
I think we've all seen a Guinness records book of some vintage at some point, some of us owned a copy, most lost theirs over the years, not Guy.
The ballast: Would it not have been easier to just use water for ballast and release it? Would also be an advantage if he turns thirsty (can drink it) and if he needs to loose ballast, this would also be harmless over the channel to release if needed.
its testing. with water you need to weigh it once you take it out. with different bags its easier and quicker on the fly. I'm sure when they fly it will be the same so they know exactly how much is lost and just pour out the water. but remember even if he drinks it he's not loosing the weight unless he takes a pee.
@@alwebster4092 I know :-), or he sweats it out: Ever taken your weight before you go to bed and in the morning before going to the bathroom again? Amazing that one somehow sweat this all out at night...
I once did a racing bike trip with 12 other people from LA to Palm springs at 123° Fahrenheit (Still have the newspaper clip to proof it, in the dessert in the sun it surely was even more...). The crew calculated the average of the drinks given (not counting what was in the bottles at the starting or end): we drank about 15 liters of water each....
I live in Costa Rica I lost 10 lbs on the heat diet. @@marwerno between 200 and 500g to be naturally buoyant or..... a steak dinner and a morning dump.
Thanks, but why did you stop? Did you take it for a flight? Is there a part 2?

Guy,.. why've you not done a bobsleigh run yet?
I'm wondering if they can make a really smaller size miniature one..
Hello sir. I'm currently working on building an airship to go to Antarctica. I would love to speak with you if possible
@5:55 The upward force is NOT lift. It is buoyancy.
Good point. Balloon would make lift it was an aerofoil shape. It isn't.
@@khaccanhle1930 Exactly.
It is still called lift
“Highly dangerous” haha have you seen guy on a motorbike??
Helium is not inflammable!

Why not have a rubber bladder for expansion? I think I've figured out the purpose of the appendix.
guy in bedford and i missed it !!!!
it was 3 years ago
blimp not an airship? or does it have some rigged structure?
LETS FLY ONE UP REALLY HIGH AND MAKE IT HAVE VARIABLE BUOYANCY SO WE CAN COME BACK DOWN
This was in 2016
Not sure Lighter than air balloons create lift! Aerofoils create lift, balloons counter weight by being lighter than air so rise within it it!
Guy!!! get a Dualtron or some other bad boy and test it out. Do a review. I bet you would fall in love with electric scooters... I'm pretty sure you would start using it on the regular. You love bikes, so an electric beast would suit you just nice 🛴😎🏆

Do the hindenburg
You won't proper try truck grand prix racing right up guy's Alley
Really annoying how you get into a video but cant watch it all. GRRRR!
I am a fan of Guy and I like his can-do attitude and spirit and bravery (TT) but all I've come across are teasers of between 2 to 7 or 8 minutes. To watch the whole program you have to go to Channel 4 in the U.K. and they only have Adobe, which even updated is a danger to your computer, it's so badly designed and it's coming off the market in 2020.
So Guy, luv ya mate, but the short bits are too much of a tease so I'm going to look you up after BBC adopts a real player. See you then.
never a problem downloading adobe from adobe.
Sorry what? £25k to fill that balloon?
Makes you wonder what it would have cost to fill up the Hindenburg or other serious sized Airships from the past. (They where designed for Helium, but US didn't want to sell, therefore they used Hydrogen. We know the rest of the story...)
@@marwerno I think the cost these days is a reflection on how rare helium is becoming.
@@simondaviesphoto Hmmm, if this is really the case.... we really should stop using it for fun in ballons for kids and stuff. Otherwise an great method of transport (in my opinion) might be getting too expensive or lost. I always wonderred why nobody tries to rebuild one of the large ships from back than with todays materials. The blimps they are building now are miles away from what they already had 90 years ago...
land torpedoes...
Please don’t tell me you’re venting the helium out into space. At least collect it with a pump and canister. Projects like this ruin helium for the rest of us.
Why spend 20x as much on helium instead of just using hydrogen? Worried about passengers? 🤣
Yea I'm being a prick but "his" is the wrong pronoun here. Dude is just the muscle.
Guy is a true British legend with ginormous balls of steel he proves that often and time and time again lol
Why is Guy wearing my gran’s teapot cozy ...........???
Sorry. A bunch of liquid helium tanks are far down on the list of dangerous canisters. The only danger is to your bank account.

Hi guy
The first time Guy met the "mad Frenchman" was on North One TV in 2016, not now??? I can't understand why Guy has decided to show this as their first meeting. His earlier attempt failed due to strong winds. Not his, or anyone else's fault, so why this charade? I am disappointed to say the least. It would have been much more truthful if he had explained their first meeting and mentioned that fact when they met again 3 years later ( according to the video publish time ). I love what he does , but the truth is important too. Have unsubscirbed. Sorry Guy. If anyone can explain, I would love to re subscribe.
Someone said this was filmed in 2016
There's also the misleading claim that this is "the only [airship] that's pedal powered", implying that it had never been done before this guy came along. If that was true in 2016 or 2019, it would only be because something happened to Bill Watson's (of 1st English Channel human powered flight fame) White Dwarf, a very similar non-rigid airship (blimp) he built in 1986 for the comedian Gallagher. later sold to a private collector in Oregon. So, Frenchman would seem to be more about self-promotion than honest candor, perhaps to fit the "mad inventor" trope he plays for media attention. You can see White Dwarf being taken out for a test in this UA-cam video, dated 2009: ua-cam.com/video/3D63PK2IyJ4/v-deo.html
