How small should the ants be if I'm buying the small formicarium? I already purchased the small option, and I have some pavement ants on the way as well. Will this be an appropriate setup? Thank you for any response!
Hi, our usual starter sets do not include ant colonies. Only our "Bundle offers" come with an ant colony. You can find them here: antcube.shop/product-category/starter-sets/starter-sets-ants/
Check if there is enough moisture in the farm and poke small deeper holes in the sand of the farm where the 2 holes are in the glass pane. It is quite normal that ants tend to stay in their nest tube as long as they can.
I buy their products fairly often. They’re always very high quality though most antkeepers think they’re a bit pricey. I, myself still buy them though and I house most of my ant colonies in their products.
@@Watchtone thanks I've recently bought this and that's what I was looking for a good quality but not to over priced nest for my new colony I've watched loads of videos from the producers but not customers so was jus wandering what the nest/colony looked like while they thrived in one !!
@@Watchtone I did get the 50 worked and one queen so fingers crossed its ideal and I choose the medium fomicarium option so the nest won't be to wide ! But I'm nervous first time keeping ants and want them to thrive ove been looking since April an this ant cube is right up my street looks wise jus hope its good the website seem legit an the store in Germany was awesome
@@Watchtone do you know any UK based places to buy the correct light/lamp for the cube starter I've tried the German website won't let me as I'm UK based an they don't deliver!!
As good as some of these stuff are. Their just simply over priced. Im sure their the best quality stuff but £89 i think for a starter a kit is overpriced. And £500 for a leaf cutter starter kit. Brilliant quality im sure but its super overpriced.
How does it circulate oxygen
Whenever the lid is opened to feed the ants. Otherwise you can get a matching grid insert for either the side openings or the holes in the lid.

@@jasonking3490 My only advice is unless your getting a colony with at least 50 workers, I’d buy a smaller one.
