Kasey said in a live performance "This song is the glue that holds my life together..... that's a lot of glue!"
Hi there from Australia you really would love John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes. Both are also legends. John Farnham take on the Beatles Help live performance is phenomenal!
Kasey had gone through a divorce leaving her a single mother, then a little later she had vocal chord nodes removed, which could have wrecked her career, plus what ever else life threw at her over a couple of years - result - she reworked this that she had partially ready. I guess sometimes it's like the blues, you have to live it express it well.
I love seeing someone genuinely liking a song
Kasey is a fantastic story teller both in lyrics & voice.
She started this song not long after she spilt from ex husband, she left it for a long time then finally finished it so I assume it’s about him.
If you listen to “Rattlin Bones” you’ll hear her ex husband Shane singing with her. It’s also a great song 😁
Oh really? Woah, I may have to listen to that one. Going to add it to the list.
And I was absolutely enamored with this song, for sure.
She's less country, but another fantastic singer songwriter from Australia is Missy Higgins. Her recent song "You Should Run" is an emotional one but I've always loved her song "Set Me On Fire", which she wrote about her struggle with writer's block a few years ago. I wouldn't say she's as powerful a singer as Kasey, but her lyrics are fantastic, she has a more laid-back vibe.
I'll for sure add both of those on the list! Thanks for the recommendations.
That strained but controlled belt is kind of common in Aussie singers, at least those that can pull it off. Just came across your channel so I don't know if you've heard any Jimmy Barnes, but he does it like no other and Josh Tesky of The Tesky Brothers performance of Rain is a great example of it more controlled and less belted. Highly recommend checking both out. Really enjoyed your no BS reaction.
I'll agree and throw in a general comment. Most Australian performers will be best in front of a live audience. It sort of comes from the way the music scene in Aus runs.
Thanks for doing this. Kasey deserves all the attention. You going to go further down the rabbit hole. Check out The Captain Paste Studios version.
Phenomenal artist! Kasey is amazing!
One of a kind is Kasey - all the better live.
Agree - 'The Captain. live at Paste studios.
One of my top 10 songs that I'm listening to right now, for sure.
She does this just as well live, even better.
better me thinks
I got goosebumps the first time I heard this also. Great reaction!
Such a powerful performance 👏 👏
Thank you for a great reaction to our Kasey 🇦🇺❤️
Absolutely, she left an imprint on me. :)
@@TheBlackSpeed she has a way of doing that 🥰
SHE IS DEVASTATINGLY INSPIRATIONAL !! 💕Love from COLORADO, USA 🇺🇸
If you like Kasey Chambers you should listen to some of her earliest songs.
Kasey was going through a divorce from a man who didn't deserve her. He was breaking her heart, but she was not about to give up on living.
On the plus side they did make some beautiful music & kids together 😁
@@Amanda-uc5jq Yeah, but he was always about himself, rather than her. In my experience, if you love somebody, you put them first.
@@GaryNoone-jz3mq totally agree, I think he used her to promote himself.
No denying they made beautiful music together though 😁
If you like her watch poni by her
Australia's answer to Adele (Kasey, 10 years earlier), but better.
