Holy crap this is a perfect build for my current homegym situation. I don't have a full power cage but I do have a Rogue SML-2 with spotter arms, though. Do you think a squat rack would be able to withstand these movements?

Awesome! Thank you! I assume it would be fine on the SML2, but of course I cannot say that ALL of the movements will work well on the SML2 without testing it myself. Please let me know if you end up doing this project and tell me how it worked for the SML2🙏💪🤘

I dont have the flip down safeties with my rack bc i got the straps instead, so could i just use the regular bar safeties that come with the rep pr-1000 instead? Thanks and love this idea!

You could do it with some minor modifications. You might consider having two 2x4s on each end where the safety bar snuggly lays in between the channel created between the 2x4s. Doing this will provide additional security, by limiting LATERAL movement.
With regard to front/back movement….you might considering using LASHING STRAPS fed through holes drilled through these 2x4 end pieces. Tightening the lashing straps will mitigate front/rear movement.
      I hope this helps! 🙏🤘💪

I would really love to make this, but my prx spotter arms don’t have holes to use for securing the seat with the pins. Any workarounds you could think of? (Conceivably I could drill holes but I’ve never tried to drill through metal and it worries me a bit.)

Honestly, I would just get some cheap amazon spotter arms that already have holes.

My thought would be to create some type of clamp with the wood and use bolts to tighten around the top & bottom of the spotter arm.

that would have been a good idea. but i did what he suggested and just bought cheap ones off of amazon. Works great.@@tallndorky

I have been thinking about building a utility seat, but as a smaller alternative to a plyo box…do you see any downsides? I have a REP PR4000 and the rear brackets are bolted down…I guess my biggest concern would be damaging the holes on my squat rack from jumping onto the utility seat…my safety arms have a bracket above and below the pin.

My 2 cents: I think you are okay. Go for it. @repfitness advertises using their utility seat as a plyo box. Your rack is 11 gauge steel.Go for it! 🤘🙏💪
