The TAZER bricked my Durango SRT with the new PIN feature... let me explain what happened...

- So let me explain... the Tazer from ZAUTOMOTIVE bricked my Durango, but it was for a good reason. Watch the whole video to find out what happened and why it bricked my Durango. Also you will find out how it was fixed and why you don't want to have to pay the bill for this fix. As a result of this issue, the Tazer now has new upgraded firmware to prevent this from happening ever again and also allowed for some other bug fixes as well. Upgrade to version 2.5.8 now!! So I have an issue with the force RWD function not staying active. I enable it then it will go right back to AWD on its own. It wasnt doing this last year but now iut is. any suggestions?
@@TheLocknLoadChannel update the firmware, the 2.5.9 beta fixes this issue “ForceRWD/AWD will retain its setting on next start.”. 2.6.1 is currently available

yes for sure. At first I was like ohh they are paying for it cuz I was sooo mad. As things cooled down and I talked to Joe though that thought went away and then hes the one the offered to pay for it instead of me demanding it. That makes it such a standup move cuz Im sure if I demanded it he would have done it, however cuz hes the one that offered it that means he was thinking about his service and response to the issue. That makes it much better.

@@howardkent5387 part number depends on which vehicle you have. Also for a discount code I dont have one as they dont really do that but I am working with them and Ill see if I can get some sort of sponsorship setup with a discount

I had the tazer for a month. Just the other day I used the pin code for the first time. Next thing I know the entire thing goes crazy all the lights are flashing in the cluster. The car then stopped cranking. Next thing I know Im bringing out mechanics and replacing the pcm, rf hub, throttle body, gutted all of the interior looking for broken wires. I will never use this again. Im still trying to fix it.

Yep, remote start is sudden death. I think Zauto should, at least, program in a "remote disable" when marrying. Zauto reimbursed me for my expenses too. Pretty leary about installing the Tazer again though.

So I think that this problem still exists, I just tried the safety feature on my 2017, and it’s not responding at all.
Certain security features are better than others for different models and trims. Ive found the the Kill By FOB feature works best for me instead of the PIN #
Question remains would they have done the same thing to someone who doesn’t have a UA-cam channel.
Yes... Joe from Z Auto here. We had about 20 cars have this problem, and I paid to get every one of them fixed and reimbursed. An expensive consequence of an oversight on my part (I didn't think of all these things happening at the same time!) but I don't want to leave anyone with a bad taste because they had to eat a $1000 repair.

Stand up dude! Thats a lot of money to pay for a issue, but guess what? Sometimes it pays to have it happen cuz now he knows what not to do and fixed it!
@@joezizzadoro7628 hopefully I can get into the test phase with my Durango. I've had my tazer since I believe 2015-16 and have transferred it to all my newer vehicles. currently testing out other features until im ready to commit to PIN code overall automotive has always been standup and replies to any concerns I might have had
@@joezizzadoro7628 make that 21 now. I used the tazer pin for the first time a few weeks ago. I've now replaced the rf hub, pcm, throttle body, and two mechanics later. I definitely regret using that damn pin code.
How's the car been and the reliability with the tune any issues? Mechanically
Its been terrific. No issues other than my transmission shifts are a little rougher when cold but not much at all. If I do full pulls from a dead stop I need to have the trans in track mode. If Im in sport mode the trans seems to not shift as quickly as it should and its hard for a tuner to tune for sport mode and track mode. Its not like its a set setting you can manipulate. I figured if im going to do a full launch Ill be in track mode anyways.
I just recently bought a tazer and i had put the code on there but everytime i turn on my car and put in the code it turns off the car but afterwards i will be able to turn it back on…. I kinda got scared so i cleared the pin because i dont want it to be bricked
In all honestly, the PIN feature is terrific but not needed for all people. I myself work at night and stay in a garage during the day so my vehicle rarely is parked in public. I dont need the PIN myself but for right now I feel theres other better features on the tazer for theft prevention than the PIN feature. I like the kill by FOB feature myself and feel that is a better fit for me. Still waiting for that Ejecto seato feature coming any day now....
The same thing happened to my 2013 charger rt and I had to get the rf hub and bcm modules it costed me $6k in repairs out of pocket :/
That sounds a bit much.
@@MattySRT that what i say it was $3k to replace bcm module and $2836 for the rf hub and a new key and all that was parts and labor
@@ramonv2466 Thats crazy. I paid 100 for my rf hub and 100 for my pcm. Was it your pcm under the hood or the bcm behind the glove box?
@@ericerickson592 it was just the rf hub that was bad but the dealer replaced the ref hub and bcm but I got a refund on the money I spent so it was okay

No, the RF hub is only covered under the 3 years 36k bumper to bumper and my vehicle was 3.5 years old
