Historic Brawl is my favorite arena format. I'm a commander player 95% so it's more fun for me. Love watching your vids and glad to see brawl back!

Managed the win despite seeing two lands, then Gala Greeters, then eight lands in a row to start off the last turn. 1:13:27 Interestingly, despite milling, scrying and drawing a total of 19 cards that turn, none of the cards mattered at all.

To be fair: I LOVE your brawl content. Even probably more than standard, as weird as this might sound.
I feel like with standard you always have some idea of what you are getting into and it can get pretty same-y. Love the challenges in deck building for singleton formats, and having CGB delving into it and explaining his thought process is always a treat.
You should make whatever content you want to cgb. Don't feel like you have to just make standard content, or that you owe us a standard video every day. You don't. And everyone likes variety.
The sad part is that the UA-cam algorithm pretty much hates variety so it's a tough spot for creators. I'm hoping lots of people watch most of the video so he can keep making brawl content too!

@@nickniehaus1763 you're not entirely wrong; it's a balance between "dance with the one who brought you" and evolving with the needs of your audience. Still, i think, as an audience, that our first concern should be him not burning out; feeling shoehorned into doing one thing ad nauseum (dance monkey!). The whole truth (a far as i can figure - who knows? I'm certainly no YT personality!) is probably closer to this: if he's having fun, WE'LL be having fun watching him. If he succumbs to the pressure of the vocal minority and just grinds and grinds, he'll lose the audience for certain. That sort of pandering leaks through the screen pretty obviously. BUT! If he keeps on with what got him here? That's his most likely path to success.

I’m so glad you did this, I really wish that more people took Brawl more seriously. The fun part isn’t how “legit” a format is, it’s the process of changing gears to figure out how to adapt to it!
I really enjoyed your Brawl content in the past, its how I found your channel to start! I want to get more into Brawl so glad to see more videos.
I'll be honest, Standard has not been my favorite lately so I haven't watched much of your recent content. Glad to see you brawling. I'm not as competitive though, I go out of my way to try out the weaker commmanders so I can try to avoid the competitive tiers and experience more creative piles. I wouldn't mind seeing you in the Explorer queues once in a while, that's been interesting me more than Standard...
Lots of interesting things going on in explorer right now! There are at least four decks competing at the top tier and a dozen or so others that are probably just one card away from breaking in.
Loved the change of pace, I miss historic brawl vids.
That last game is exactly what I love about watching CGB...

Oh wow... I would like to try this format. I've only played standard and Alchemy, but when I realised alchemy required buying extra cards every set I decided that wasn't worth it.

@@TheKillaShow at least that's a relatively static one that doesn't require buying everything twice. I could live with that. But yeah, point taken.
It's not terribly hard to get into. And once you get all the most commonly used cards for most decks you'll find your aren't crafting as much because it's a singleton format. I almost exclusively play historic brawl now and even though I'm FTP I've got over 50 rare/mythic WC ready to craft whatever deck or new commander I want.
@@TheKillaShow I think Historic Brawl would cost less than actual Historic.
If only because Brawl means you only need one of each essential Mythic and Rare for your chosen colors.
Not by THAT much, mind you, but for someone that wanted to jump into Historic, going through Brawl first might be a decent stepping stone.

Thank you for taking a break from this standard. I recommend taking one day a week to explore other formats. Maybe a Monday madness? I like the fun formats with competitive approach to plays

I only play Arena for Historic Brawl, now that being said, even when I dont play standard I love how you play and explain the meta game of the format, So watching you making HB content would be like mixing bot and is awesome
When Brawl was made, I was sceptical, but then Commander started to power scale to levels that were similar to modern, and started to understand the appeal of a more condensed format. Loved the video and the deck man, keep it up.
This is great! I wanted to get into brawl for ages, but I pretty much only have current standard cards. This will make it much easier. I netdecked a few STANDARD brawl decks and these are hella fun as well!

At 24:16, if he'd created treasures instead with the lands, wouldn't the squirrel have become much larger compared to using the lands for mana as he did?

Really enjoyed (and always enjoy) hearing you talk about your approach to content creation - Twitch about making your audience feel a part of the experience vs. UA-cam making your audience feel they are the reason for the experience is such a great insight. Always feel free to keep the philosophy coming! I think for your core audience, it's just as engaging as the gameplay.
I made it to the end and I love Historic brawl. When I get more than 20 minutes to play it is what I choose every time.

I much prefer watching you have more fun than not. Part of what I enjoy watching you is seeing the engagement and the passion. I dont have the money or time to play MTGA at a competitive level, so the high-level is why I choose you over other mtga-ers. However, I come to here to relax watching someone have fun, whether thats mtg, or other games, or science videos. I am happy to watch you in any format, and would prefer you play how and where you'd like. Maybe the numbers make me a liar, but thats my preference.

hahaha I thought my UA-cam page was glitching & it would show me an old thumbnail or something. Then I realised it's real & then it's Historic Brawl? I'm so absolutely here for this. I love Jund, I run a Korvold commander deck (without Dockside no worries ^^), I'm so absolutely here for this.
I love your different kind of stuff. I watch your standard videos everyday, even tho I don't play it personally, since I can't afford to build a new deck every few months - I enjoy the edh videos too. On Arena I only play Explorer and Brawl, so seeing you play it and dissect strategies, archetypes and other decks while you're playing is awesome. Good that you are doing videos about stuff you enjoy, thanks for that!
(also - you're probably not gonna read this, but if you would dip your toes into explorer with a few videos then and there I would love that and Im probably not alone)
It's always nice to take a break from standard, especially to check out one of Arena's most fun formats! The higher variance and larger card pool definitely lead to more interesting decisions and wild gameplay, and you seem to be up to the task of cracking the code for the competitive side of things. 11/10 would brawl again!

Brawl is the reason I still love Arena. I love your standard stuff, it captures what current magic is, but Brawl is the reason I come back to Arena (and the reason I’ve spend money). I worked hard to build up my singleton collection and I love to tinker around with it.
Korvold is my preferred card! Amazing to see the only UA-camr I watch nowadays playing it, 🤩👏🏼

Yesss historc!!! A nice start. Please keep doing both. Give tips to those that might want to branch in to historic as well, such as reroll always for 750's and do your dailies! I remember sticking with standard for sooo long and feeling the flood gates of possibility open on doing historic. Definitely recommend making your decks last few years standard heavy and still being historic to keep your two audiences happy. Korvold is perfect. PS I'm casual and don't spend money on the game, historic is still possible
3:55 I mean I came here for korvold tactics but I'll gladly take an entire hour of life/work philosophy. that's my bread and butter!

You're a smart dude. Not everyone proves that they think about their approach to content creation. The proof is in the numbers, but letting people hear it isn't a bad idea, especially in this case.
I honestly like brawl videos more because Brawl is more friendly for my wildcards if I decide I like a deck. So I'm looking forward for more of these! Since you've been playing a lot of commander lately with the Worst possible commander show then this looks like right up your alley too.

I really like when you get into other formats too! Because sometimes you are sick of standard, specially after you tried to make high mythic for a season you need change sometimes! And I really do not care if it is originally from twitch because I just enjoy your decklists and that you most of the time play them very well! So keep bringing twitch stuff to UA-cam! :)

Always a fan of HB content! I don't mind repurposed vods one bit, I quite like watching your streams. With the added intros in the same style as your other usual YT content I feel like most people that are into HB can get a lot of value from these even if they are not a fan of the twitch persona.
Also, I'm with most of the folks here when they say that I'm down with whatever content makes you happy, so keep up the great work!

Like, I hear people with 2 million followers making very VERY good money boohoo about how it isn't fun anymore. I work with dying people and sometimes cannot save them, work isn't always fun for sure. But it's necessary. After your intro, I will never unsub, appreciate you.

Standard Brawl is awesome at this time of the year because there are 8 sets for it until rotation. You might want to make some video's of it. There is a lot of choice and Streets of New Capenna has several interesting commanders.
