I bought the TRS-26 as my first red dot, for my first AR, on the first range trip (after realizing my old man eyes couldn't see the stock AR sights worth a darn). I have nothing to compare it with, but I am astonished at how easy it is to shoot, and it brought my groups back to what I used to be able to do (back before my eyes went to shit!) The only down side is now I want red dots for everything. LOL
Completely agree. I could find them for $99 every so often but $119 on sale was pretty normal. Pure price gouging going on with most things gun related, from red dots to rifles.🤬
It’s simple supply/ demand. It’s economics as want goes up and supply is limited prices increased. Plus it’s trash. Got 2 T2 micros they haven’t increased in price at all. Meaning ppl wanna buy cheap shit are gonna have to get it first or it’ll be more expensive
It's an "in-betweener" option that some will buy but most will either go a step up or others will opt for the Romeo, Holosun, or Primary Arms red dots that deliver nearly identical features at 30-50% less cost. Bushnell needs to get the price in line or this optic will be short lived.
I got this red dot because it was 40 bucks cheaper than all the others you named. Maybe the dropped the price? That was 3 months ago. Getting an aim point PRO next.

have had the trs26 for about 9 months now. hasn't lost zero and battery still works. worth the price for the large field of view. I also like the 2 hour off feature. I always move my rifle before I go to bed. I sleep for 7-8 hours a night. I always train myself to turn my dot on anyways. I stow my rifle how law enforcement does. full mag empty chamber with optic set on off setting. training goes a long way. best dot for the money.
I've had a TRS 25 on my AR15 for years and have put 1000s of rounds thru it and have yet to loose zero. Got one for my 30-30 and have put hundreds thru it and still holding zero. Pretty dang impressive for a $50 red dot!

I remember catching a TRS-25 for around $25 when Bushnell was doing a rebate for $40. I think there was a even better deal at the time when you purchased two of them in a pack.

I run a TRS 25 on a High Point 995. With it I can hit a running coyote at 75-100 yards. I'm happy, and comfortable with the set up, and don't plan on changing.

Auto-off ain't bad if you're also got auto-on (eg, like the Holosun's mostly do). Kind of a disappointment there, but then again I have a lot of guns I just goof off with at the range that it would be fine on.

Just mounted this RDS on my AR...I used a laser bore sight...This Red Dot was right on the money right out of the box...Accident or what...either way. PRETTY COOL...
If you're on a budget, Romeo 5, Primary Arms, and Holosun are all great options. If you have further budget restrictions and you aren't a fan of the auto off feature, look into the Sig MSR. Price was steadily in the sub $100 range prior to the surge in firearm/ammo sales. It regularly sells for $120 these days and can be found in either red or green dot. If you are patient and shop smart, you can still find the MSR for around $100.
This is a really excellent video. Spot-on evaluation. I have a TRS-25 on my Kel-tec SU 16, an underrated, light weight, accurate and reliable rifle. And there’s no reason to switch. But I sprung for the Romeo5 for my Christensen Arms CA 9 mm, and I love it.

i know this is a old vid, and someone else has probably already said this, but the newer version of this dot has a way to disable the auto off, just turn on then hold up and down buttons for a few seconds until the dot flashes three times. i had bought the original and got rid of it for that reason, then bought it again when they fixed it.
Just remember its a budget buy item for some to none of the features of the more expensive items or similar capacity. I have a TRS-25 on tactical Tapco SKS. Works great.
I've been messing with this thing and found out,if you hold down both buttons (up,down) at same time for a little bit the dot flashes. Fast( timer on) slow flash timer off. Although I don't get a 2 hour turn off,mine is 12 hrs it seems

The FOV is a big deal. Makes me want to try one. Primary Arms also makes the MD25 with a supposed 30mm FOV equivalent as well that's tempting I just worry about the daylight brightness. Their base model red dot isn't very bright.
An inexpensive red dot that works well is a good thing to have around if you have multiple guns. That’s how I would use this thing. Any other guns have a dedicated and higher end optic. You could put this on something you don’t care about as much

If the front lens doesn’t pop out like the trs-25 it should be awesome. Major swing and a miss with the auto shutoff feature though. Only time an optic should have an auto-shutoff is if it has an auto-on as well. If not, just don’t do it. Just bought my 3rd Romeo 5 instead. Romeo tends to be $100-$110 around big holiday sales.
I have one of these directly mounted to a mwi handguard on my Zastava pap with the T1 footprint and is holding up great and looks good. Bonus i got it for $99 on BDU
Honestly, you should look into the Northtac P10 or P11. Amazing red dots with auto/auto off and a 50,000 hour battery life plus they come in a hard case like Trijicon, all for under 100 bucks.
@@SEAKPhotog New company. Started in 2018. I bought the P10 and P11, and I love them both, however the P11 is strictly for the AR, unless you love a high mount. The P10 has a removable riser, though.
Thanks for the review. I would love to be able to put an Aimpoint T2 or Comp M5 on every gun I have, but it’s just not feasible. The little Bushnell sight seems like it might be worth looking into.
I guess if you had a very large family, and you wanted all your older teenaged children to have a good red dot optic on each of their rifles, this would make sense. Otherswise, I think of an Aimpoint Carbine Optic as a good "budget" choice. Yeah, I know. But I'd rather depend on the cheapest Aimpoint than the cheapest something else.

I'd just like to see something that cowitness iron sights on 10/22 without mods by the user, or buying aftermarket sights. I think a groove down the center of the high rise mount with the trs26 might work.
Major flaws ? Let me tell you, I removed my TRS-26 after one range session due to the terrible placement control panel forward of the Left-Right turret ! And the scary parallax issues, now I have a brand new red dot that I won't be using ! Reaching around that turret with your fingertip while shooting is just plain stupid. That said the optics are awesome !

Have you shot past 50yds with it? I’m curious how the 3 MOA dot is for a PCC or SBR that could effectively reach out to 100-150yds..

Great points hop. I paid that for my holosun hs403b, which is the cheaper one. And the MOTAC was the feature that got me there over the romeo msr.

I picked up a TRS25 with rebate and sale for like 30 dollars several years ago. I’ve been abusing it ever since to prove it’s garbage. Still works.

My dot would turn off under recoil from a 556. That was my trs 25. I'm good. Primary arms micro dots have been good to me.
I've seen the trs25 handle a ton of 12ga slugs, and I've seen them fail on ARs. They seem like they're very hit or miss.

TRS-25 was the first red dot I ever bought and it's still alive, serving duty on a 22LR. Pretty interesting to see Bushnell make a successor!

I like the TRS 25 or the Holosuns. Bushnell has been great, only issue is having to turn a dial on/off. I can handle that.

Replaced my very old, discontinued TRS-32 with the TRS-25 Trophy(w/ UTG Med. riser) & Bushnell’s 3xmagnifier.

I've got those UTG Pro irons on my PCC, very pleased.

I'd just like to see something that cowitness iron sights on 10/22 without mods by the user, or buying aftermarket sights. I think a groove down the center of the high rise mount with the trs26 might work.

I have 3 TRS25 and they have lasted yrs, 12g, .308, and 5.56.....
For $50--100 I'd consider it but given holosun has a ton of models in the 150+ range, for over $100 I'd go with those.
You can also get the Vortex red dots for the same price.

Major flaws ? Let me tell you, I removed my TRS-26 after one range session due to the terrible placement control panel forward of the Left-Right turret ! And the scary parallax issues, now I have a brand new red dot that I won't be using ! Reaching around that turret with your fingertip while shooting is just plain stupid. That said the optics are awesome !

The new version can be auto off in 12 hours or disable auto off feature.
