    I’m really looking to work on a 3D printed drone for a summer project. Just wondering, do you think it’s best to just find files already online and use them for my first try? Or should I try doing everything myself (modeling parts and such)? I’m just getting into 3D printing so my experience is pretty small with everything that’s involved. I’m just trying to figure out a good starting point for my first project attempt. Thanks!

    • @drewdowdy1605
      @drewdowdy1605 Рік тому

      definitely find a proven model online before attempting your own. success in your own design will come much easier if you learn some techniques from existing models. one of the biggest reasons for failure i see when people design their own aircraft is neglecting learning and implementing proven design strategies.

      Yeah m8 I mean you can model stuff rn and see how it goes. but to get aero designs down can be finicky. I recommend getting accustomed to 3d printing first (it’s an art) and designing as well. But hey skies the limit you can def try :)

    • @TheRealMisterJ

      With so many models out there just start with printing someone else's.. But as far as Drones go modeling one shouldn't be that difficult. Maybe find a model and customize it a bit.

    • @pb6839
      @pb6839 Рік тому

      quite weak, you can pinch through the wings with little pressure. Since everything is glued, they're also difficult to repair. I still recommend making one for fun though.

    • @TheRealMisterJ
      @TheRealMisterJ 9 місяців тому

      Thin and can snap with your fingers maybe, but they can still take a beating. Great thing is they are 3d prints, easy to print off a few of the most likely to break parts or atleast reprint something over night. Most things can be fixed on the field with some super glue though.

    What does UAV stand for? I thought it was Unmanned Airial Vehicle - in other words, autonomous - one that flies a pre-determined flight plan with no real-time input - but this one is not unmanned - he has the control in his hands.

    • @janhumpolicek8373
      @janhumpolicek8373 Рік тому +4

      unmanned doesn't mean autonomous, in reality most uavs aren't autonomous. Unmanned means theres not a pilot sitting inside it, but is controlling it from a distance (could be 100m or hundreds of kilometers)

    • @DownhillAllTheWay
      @DownhillAllTheWay Рік тому +1

      @@janhumpolicek8373 Thanks for the answer - but it's mad all the same. If it's 12" long, it's pretty obvious that it doesn't have a pilot sitting in it, so there seems no need to explain that it's "unmanned". What would a pilot do? That's what the guy with the control is doing.
      PS - I'm not arguing with *_you._* I'm arguing with the convention.

    • @janhumpolicek8373

      @@DownhillAllTheWay I explained it because you said quote "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle - in other words autonomous" which is not necesairly the case, so I just wanted to let you know, because it gets a bad rep to MQ-9 reapers and other military uavs (people then call them autonomous killing machines which is as far away from the reality as possible)
