      Let's not forget they had a few major player changes and are a new team getting used to each other.

    Dante Exum is actually so damn good! IQ off the charts on both sides of the ball, he always makes the right play offensively and defensively. He’s always in the right place at the right time and he is clutch knocking down shots when we absolutely need them! X factor for this team going forward

    We needed to play a team with a more modest offense maybe. Hopefully that helps. :)

    I know Lively doesn’t always show up on the stats. But the awareness of passing the ball out when the paint is clogged with 2 defenders is impressive for a young big man. I think he wasn’t credited with his block today though?

    • @maferreira1984
      @maferreira1984 2 місяці тому

      If you watch closer, Kleber blocked first, so he got the credit.
      D-Live is indeed a massive presence, though, in both ends. Lots of kick-outs from driving Miami players who suddenly got a 7'8" wingspan monster in front of them, grabbed a couple of offensive boards that ended in 2nd chance points and stuffed a couple of balls from alley-oops and drives. His stats are usually low key, but he very rarely fails the eye test -- just like Gafford. Kidd's insistence in using Maxi as a 5 is beyond comprehension, glad he only did it for 3-5 minutes last night, if I remember correctly.

      @@maferreira1984 there was another block 2:40ish?

      @@AndrewL31413 If I'm not mistaken the one at 1:20 was shown from another angle in the live feed and it looked like it was a pass he deflected. But the one at 6:20 is hard to tell, cause although the ball clearly hit the edge of the backboard, it's nearly impossible to see whether or not Lively touched it right before that, even in slo-mo. Maybe the stats guys will review it with better tech than youtube 0.25 speed, LOL.

    Finally a win. Last five games were all 30+ pts triple doubles from Luka. They won 2/5, that's just sad.

    • @gmoney8399
      @gmoney8399 2 місяці тому +1

      They had won 7 in a row before that in very impressive fashion, but they’re definitely an inconsistent team. They’re either hot or not. especially THJ lol. He might be the most “ hot or not” players of all time lol. I hope it’s mainly due to the “revamped” Mavs still figuring out how exactly how to play with each other. I think the additions of DG, PJ, snd Exum made their ceiling way higher. And One of Luka’s elite skills is knowing/anticipating exactly what his teammates are going to do. It’s obvious when they are firing on all cylinders they’re championship contenders. But with injuries and inconsistency can they get it together for the playoffs? I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Lively or Gafford should be on the floor at all times. Make the other team adjust to your size, not the other way around. Max is most effective at the PF position so keep him there. Give half of THJ's minutes to Hardy.

    If the coach staff put Lively and Gafford together in a fourth quarter against the Nuggets, am pretty sure Jokic won't have easy shots. Just as long as they maintain a good defense..

      You can tell they barely watch the Mavs play any games. Talking about Luka lowering his stats. He moves the ball. It’s just up to his teammates to put it in. The problem is on defense. They have to lock in the entire game. They have to start with a strong defensive intensity and never let that go.

    • @ahfei6847
      @ahfei6847 2 місяці тому +1

      I agree. teammates often go cold because they are not given enough room in the offense collectively (waiting for an assist isn't being involved). And I think this also weighs on their defense: they should be naturally better, but their limited role on the offense translates to less intensity on the game overall.

      lmao has Barkley won a ring in NBA ? he should have lowered his own scoring to involve his team members' scoring - why didn't he do it ? Probably would have won a ring or too. I am tired from so called analysts painting everything black and white. Real life isn't so easy. Everything is a shade of gray.
