That Maggie bed is the perfect size for her!! It’s a beautiful truck! I purchased a 2018 version of the same thing and was going to get a 5th wheel. I’ve since sold the truck as I decided that since I’m alone it was better to just stay with my travel trailer since I’m also 59 years old. And it’s a lot to manage for me as a lone female traveler. I don’t know if that was a good decision or not yet, but I’ll find out. I can always do it again!!😉🐾

Hey there. I always check the app for the cheapest fuel and with the HDT we can be choosy since we carry 250 gallons. I saved about 40 cents a gallon the other day at TA so I consider that a pretty big savings. Some of the stations aren't nearly as good so always check the app. :) Hope that helps. Good stuff, Aaron. Keep 'em coming. Just starting to do my "shopping" for an HDT to tow the coach. I'm curious on what you went through to find your HDT. I'm thinking you whittled down to 2 or 3 good/best sources to use in your search, but thought I would ask for any tips you might have picked up.
Hey there Don. Thanks for checking out the video, welcome to the channel. I looked everywhere at first but truckpaper.com is where I found nearly every truck I looked at. There are some every once in a while on horsetrailerworld.com but those were mostly completed RV Haulers. Best of luck in your search. Let me know if you have any other questions. Safe Travels
Great video. Have you had any issues with brakes and shocks? I know that Dave from “Watts on Wheels” has replaced a lot of items with his HDT. I just wish more people would consider an HDT when pulling large RV trailers. People think because their trailer is not that heavy, they are fine pulling with a pickup. What they don’t consider is the volume and overall size of the trailer.
We had the brakes replaced before we took delivery of the truck so no issues yet. I am thinking of replacing the shocks this coming summer just as a normal preventative thing. They are originals from what I can tell so probably shot after 500k miles. :) Yes, a lot of people call it overkill but they just don't understand LOL Safe Travels Roy
Hey guys and gals. Been watching your channel and I'm sold. I'm gonna do it. Got the rig and the trailer. Can you tell me please how your combo is insured and by who. Please help!

Great video. Does the shifter get in the way moving around in the cab or when swiveling the driver seat? Do you think the push button shift would be a better option? Thank you.
Hi John. I know on the newer models they went to push buttons on the dash but our shifter handle does fold down out of the way so it really isn't an issue at all. Hope that helps. Safe Travels
do you have to extend the frame rails to haul the smart car? if yes how far do they need extended. great videos on the HDT got me seriously looking at getting one.
Hi Paul. Welcome to the channel. Yes, we did a 30" frame extension to accept the fifth wheel hitch which gave us enough room to haul the car. You need about 52" between the side of the car and the front of the fifth wheel to enable a safe turning radius. We know folks who have extended their frames much further but ours works great for us. Hope that helps. Safe Travels
Happy New Year. I’m looking into buying an HDT so my question is it better to buy one already converted or to buy a truck and have it converted. Can’t find anyone in my area that converts these trucks. What am I looking at for price in converting one. Love your videos keep them coming. From south Alabama y’all stay safe and hope to meet y’all one day.
Hey Dwight. It all depends on what you can find out there and, of course, budget. From my research it was cheaper buying a commercial truck and converting it myself but you might be able to find one already done for a reasonable price. Check out horsetrailerworld.com or reach out to Jack at RVH Lifestyles to see if he has any leads on already converted trucks. Hope that helps. Safe Travels

Hi Chip. Happy New Year. You definitely need a HDT even though the F550 is a bad a$$. LOL Right now I am the only one that drives. Trying to get Tina to give it a try it will just take a bit more convincing. Unfortunately we are in AZ so we wont be at the Tampa show 😢 but we hope to meetup with you one day. :) Safe Travels

How many miles did your 780 have on it when you bought it? Did you have an independent mechanic check it out for you up front? Also, I know you have the D15 beast, but would you have gone with a D13 if it had been available? Thank you!
Our truck had 503k mile son it when we bought it. We did have it checked out and dyno'd. Check out our Shopping for a Heavy Duty ruck series and you'll see what we had done prior to our purchase :) We do have the D13 and its great. Safe Travels
Hi Frank. Welcome to the channel. We're happy to have you here. It drives like a regular truck just a bit more comfort with the air ride seats. Its the same width as our dually was in the rear so I really cant tell much difference in this truck. Super easy to drive with the automatic transmission. :) Hope that helps. Safe Travels
Aaron I was just watching your tour of the bad ass VNL 780. I am always wondering about the fuel tanks if it draws both at the same time or do you have to switch from tank to tank?
Hi Daniel. We don't have to do either of those things. The truck is registered in SD as an RV so DOT does not apply. Thabks for checking out the video. Safe Travels
I have a dump question. the Semi rig is like 100k used or more. then you add the 5th wheel RV camper for about 100k used. Cant you buy a used motor home cheaper? and still haul a car behind it.
Hey there. In fact the used semi truck, a 2016 model, was only 47k, and another 80k for the used RV. I am sure that you could buy a motorhome cheaper and tow a car behind it but that isn't really comparing apples to apples. I am towing a 45 ft RV with a 10 foot garage that we use as office/garage space. Hard to find in a motorhome. :) Nonetheless, each RV has its own pros and cons and we love the space and versatility our fifth wheel and truck combo provide. Hope that helps. Thanks for checking out the video and following along. Safe Travels
@@JonesN2Travel well that makes sense then. so you have about 127k in the whole works. thats not bad at all. Heck when i see the semi i think to my self I could live in somthing like that, (add a bathroom) I lived in one for 30 years OTR out for 2 weeks home for 2 days.
Hi Drew. We've registered the truck in South Dakota as an RV so no CDL or DOT required. Makes it simple. :) Thanks for checking out the video. Safe Travels

Hi Daniel. We don't have to do either of those things. The truck is registered in SD as an RV so DOT does not apply. Thabks for checking out the video. Safe Travels
Is SD the only state that allows you to register a truck like this?

What is a good average price one would pay for a truck like this? I am looking at the new Ram 3500 limited $86K should I consider a HDT?
Do you just need a class a? Or any other endorsers for this setup?
Hi Drew. We've registered the truck in South Dakota as an RV so no CDL or DOT required. Makes it simple. :) Thanks for checking out the video. Safe Travels
What is the axle ratio?
Hi John. 2.47 is the axle ratio on our Volvo. Thanks for checking out the video. Safe Travels
What fuel additive do you use?
I use the Lucas additive. Get it at Walmart in the gallon jug. It seems to work well for us. Safe Travels
Maybe someone has already said. Just in case no one has. Get an air gun with a 90* and blow out your air filter about every three months to pro long the life by a bunch. one word Desert. ; )
Hi Kenny. Surprisingly no one has offered up that tip yet so thanks for mentioning it. Will add that to my truck inspection/maintenance routine. Thanks for checking out the video and for following along. Safe Travels

Thanks Mike and Happy New Year!. Safe Travels
After 41 years 6 months as a semi driver never needed a fire suppression system. 🤔Not a top fuel dragster .
I agree HDT fires are rare but its also cheap insurance. Thanks for checking out the video. Safe Travels
"Webasto" not Webasco.
