i know its a drumset demo but i was anticipating him to play that ride cymbal the whole video & he finally did @ 3:20 lol. Beautiful looking and sounding Zildjian
2:14 KW launches smoothly into some slick melodic PARADIDDLE-DIDDLES: starts between snare/floor tom and back to snare-then up to high tom-floor tom-back to snare. Max Roach type thing, but of course with Kenny’s signature crisp execution. I just spent an hour with it, and it’s part of my vocabulary now (hopefully...). I’ll make a video breaking it down and put it up on UA-cam soon.
Kenny plays left handed palm down (almost always) which seems to limit what I'm able to do when I turn my palm up. He seems to have pretty good speed with his singles as well as pretty fluid doubles playing that way....?....unconventional technique. Can someone explain?
@@clever8088 I use traditional left grip. I play palm down to use finger control, which I call dribbling, I don't know the official name for that. I play palm up when I want to use a moeller stroke as it enables more rebound, which I call catching, I don't know the official name for that either. I use both hand positions so that I can use either technique. For me they are mutually exclusive.
Can't stop watching this video over and over again....

What size is the snare drum? Is it 14x 6 1/2?

sometimes you just have to not get so hung up on technique and just play music
@@jocquidixonmusicproduction988 speaking of which, there's a musical concept named "question and answer" but I guess your'e not so hung on that either
The explanation is... Because He IS The Jazz Machine !
Playing with palm up allows the middle finger in the traditional grip to control the stick more aggressively rather than the wrist.
