Great to be included in this Metal School documentary, on behalf of Burning Starr members, past and present , a big thanks for introducing us to all of those who might have missed us back then, in 1984 when I started the band I would never have thought anyone would be talking about us or listening to our music in 2022 so it's really very cool for this to happen and Metal School for doing a great job on this documentary, Metal On
Thanks for checking out the video, Jack! And thanks for all the great Burning Starr albums!
Great to learn about your career and band in this video
Me and my Friends all mid 20s are still killing beercans to your music !
I listen to your songs here in Brazil, the best metal band in the world for me, thank you for existing in my life.
@@JohnSparklyConnor Thanks John for your wonderful comment about my band Burning Starr ,we are really pleased that more and more people are discovering us especially in Brazil, PS The Terminator reference is cool
Its incredible to watch the whole story of Burning Starr. I’m honored to be a part of it. And thank you for the compliments!
Great job on this documentary 👍
Hey thanks, Mike!🤘🏻Was a blast going thru those old albums. And hope to hear some new Holy Mother soon!
😃👍
*Well deserved* compliments!
Thanks Mike for killing it on all the albums you did with us , Still think that the opening notes you do on "No Turning Back" are some of the best in all of metal
Hey Mike, how do you hit those high notes? Do you step on a thumbtack? Your high notes cracked my tea cup. 🤘😎🤘
Great video. Like my friend Mike, I am honored to be included. I bought Jack's Out of the Darkness album way back in 1984, which is how I knew about him to put my hat in the ring as his new vocalist for the Defiance album. Joey from Manowar ended up selecting me. When I met Jack in person for the first time, I had him sign my cassette. 😁
Kind of funny that both Mike and I went on to sing for Riot and that Rhett sang for Riot also.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Todd! Yeah, crazy how many Riot connections there are between the bands haha.
Always a fan of your stuff. Hope to hear more Riot V soon! 🤘🏻
@@MetalSchoolChannel Seconding that request for more Riot V!
Thanks Todd for being our singer and making three glorious albums with us , Joey DeMaio was right when he said "that guy is an amazing singer"
@@stratluvr 😄👍
@@stratluvr Y'all's new singer is pretty damn good too. Souls of the Innocent rocks hard!
Really glad that he named the band "Jack Starr's Burning Starr." I wouldn't want to confuse them with any other Burning Starr...
Solid video on Burning Starr. A reminder that I have a few holes in my collection to fill.
Never heard of them until now!! I’m 49. I must have missed them in the 80s. Thanks for introducing them!!
I am begging you to make an episode on Jag Panzer... Excellent video
I concur
One of the most underrated bands in the history of metal! Proud fan of them since 2002 and privileged to open for their first show in Greece (2014) with the band i was playing for back then (Crystal Winds)
I never paid any attention to this band until this doc. Thanx a lot! Cheers from Brazil.
I will get all of Burning Starr albums. 😀👍🤘🎸
I bought them all last year. Some of the greatest traditional Heavy Metal I have ever listened to. I will never understand how this group is not huge. Their catalog is phenomenal!
Another not requested suggestion. Vicious rumors.
Yes!! I love Vicious Rumors, especially their album "Welcome To The Ball." Underrated heavy/power metal.
And Halloween from Detroit !
Great band. The episode could have a tie in to the band Hawaii with Gary St Pierre and a then unknown guitarist named Marty Friedman
I cannot stop listening to SANDS OF TIME. Such a great song! Thank you !!!
Excellent song indeed! The whole Land Of The Dead album is amazing.
Dear Gibson Les Paul , I have listened to your sounds for over 45 years ,thanks for now listening to mine
Amazing choice to do Burning Starr. Love it. I highly recommend doing Metal Church next.
GREAT ROCKUMENTARY , jack was a french born axe hero , and he did well leavin ' for the states !!!
We could all learn something from a RIOT Metal School lesson. Stay Awesome!
He's already got us covered with Riot. Late to class again, I see. Lol
This band is only second to Kix for Hit Parader print ads. Also, love this series, thanks 👍
Just purchased multiple albums from this band after watching (and hearing) this.
Nice!
Flew under my radar. These guys are great! Thanks for covering them.
Well, you’ve done it again. You introduced me to another great artist who I somehow completely missed during the 80s and 90s
Same here. Not sure how I missed them as I was/am a fan of Riot and Virgin Steele.
@@plslakewood Exactly. Loved both of those bands and never heard of Jack Starr until now.
Me too!!
I’m not sure how I missed this band over the years. Thank you for this video. I’m very excited to listen to this band a lot more. Also, how awesome is it that members of the band have actually commented on this video you made?! Nice work!
MikE Tirelli. My god what a voice!!!!
Epic Tirelli!!!
😃👍
Started doing my homework and listened to The Orange Album, it's amazing!!
Thanks Martin , agree and I think that Mike Tirelli once again sounded amazing on the Orange Album
I was first introduced to Burning Starr through my friend Bass, who was in the Blaze Of Glory line up. Turned out I went to school with Mike and Jim was from my neighborhood. I had the honor of seeing the band perform many times and they quickly became one of my favorite bands to support back then and i still support the band members now in all that they do. I still love their music and the memories I have from back in the day. I still consider them all dear friends. So glad to come across this documentary, it brought a smile to my face as I relived my experiences with the band. I still listen to my disc's, especially NY Woman and Tear Down The Walls, my favorites. Love the videos also. Now I'll have to hunt down the few albums on this list that are missing from my collection.
Ah yes, Burning Starr, I've heard they still are remembered yet underrated in being noticed! Still love the band🤘🏼🔥👑🍻💀❤️🔥
So great to see a band just getting better with age! The new stuff rocks even harder than the 80s stuff!
thanks Brittany , that's what we hoped for on the last couple of albums
Thank you, as I have said. Not my type of music, but very interesting to learn about these bands. Please keep it up.
Super underrated blaze of glory is still my favorite.
34:42 RIP Ken Kelly 1946-2022
1:25 Rhett Forrester sounds like an awesome dude! This video will nake me give his stuff a listen now (Jack)
Bass had quit drugs and was on a different career path. Then he hooked up with a woman, and she got him to speedball one night. He passed out on the top floor of his home, during a heatwave, and had no AC on. He officially died from the heat. Bass (Billy) was a good man, with a kind heart. I was friends with him for many years. He was also one of the most talented Bass players I had ever seen, and even played a fretless bass. His brother is also a great musician. Peace
totally agree , he was a great musician and a helluva nice guy too
Thank you for clearing that up. He was on a different career path when i had last seen him. I greatly miss Bass. He always could make me smile and was such a kind soul. I was devastated when he passed.
I think Tygers Of Pan Tang and Girlschool would be good suggestions, but what ever you put out I'm still gonna check out
Out of the Darkness was recorded here in Rochester at the same studio as kill em all and the first Znowhite if I remember correctly
Long overdue documentary on one of the greatest metal bands ever featuring the iconic guitar legend Jack Starr, we'll done.
thanks Linda
Still hoping for an episode on Tokyo Blade or some FWOSHM band, Heavy load maybe?
And one more thing I wanted to add is that burning Stars recent stuff blows away anything recent from Virgin Steele
Every Jack Starr Album is phenomenal, but Out of the Darkness is one of my favorites
Just got Out Of The Darkness CD a few months ago. It is definitely a phenomenal album.
thanks for spending more of my money haha! You've opened my eyes to 9 new artists and changed my mind about 3 that I already knew. 3 of my favorite bands came from your videos... Burning Starr might be #4, its too early to tell! Keep up the great work, I love listening while I draw :)
Well sir, I can honestly say I've never heard of this band before, ever.
Man this band is very good...since Virgin Steele was great... Jack Starr's Burning Starr tops it off....love this video and cannot wait to put them on my library...thanks Metal School 🤘
thanks David
Virgin Steele's video on this channel makes a terrific back-to-back choice to watch.
Another great video paying respect to an excellent guitarist. It’s funny because I’ve been a fan of Jack Starr for a long time and now a friend (Alexx Panza) is singing for him.
That’s awesome! I’m excited to see Alex grow. He’s already very good but I think he’ll get even better.
We all love Alexx's vocals and he is doing a great job of upholding the vocal tradition of great singing In Burning Starr
😄👍
I love your channel! You have discovered so many gems. Thankyou so much 🤘
i have one of his songs on a metal sample cd, pleasant surprise seeing this in my sub box 😄
It's been quite a journey, and they are only getting stronger !
thanks Jeff, I think that is some ways our latest album might be the best but then again sometimes I think its Stand Your Ground the album that came out in 2017
My Sundays are better with mountain dew, my vape, choice snacks and metal school 🤟💪🤟
Out of the darkness is very good.😄👍
Credit to Jack for never giving up and always growing as a musician. It's a hard road to walk, full of heartbreaking let downs and empty promises. Friends and players come and go, but the music never dies.
Thanks Golgotha , that's the truth, the lyrics to my song No Turning Back are about that
@@stratluvr Salut Jack.Tu parles français?
@@franciskocher200 Qui bien sur ,mais en verite je fais beaucoup d'errors en parlent

Thank you for your service by making these videos. I love when you cover bands I’ve never heard of. Your commitment to these videos rock
One band I’ve heard of but never heard.I’ll be getting some of their stuff thanks to you 🤘 Killer riffs! Also,I vote for one of my fav bands,Y&T.Keep up the awesome work!I’ve been listening every day & learning more about the bands I already know & learning/buying music from bands that are new to me.You rock, bro
So much talent, every musician associated with Jack . Lots of hard work and having some of the best of the best ,! I love how this documentary shows a lot of old clips !!! Love the beginning and the here and now of what this band has done !!!
Jack killing on those guitar solos , nothing short of epicness !!! Bravo guys 👏 Keep keeping on !!! Loving the good ole straight up Rock N Roll ! Cheers !
thank you Dana for your kind words, it means a lot coming from someone that has literally written the book on heavy metal ,we all appreciate your support
Jack is a great friend of ours.
I love your videos. Def helps me mental health wise to relax and/or when I wanted to revisit bands or learn new ones. Thanks
❤️🤘🏻
Credit to them for never going through a grunge or industrial phase. It’s also good to see their more recent stuff is much better than the early stuff, which is as unremarkable and forgettable as it gets. The newer stuff is much more competent. All in all a perfect example of the quality of the music matching the quality of the album covers.
"stripes on a tiger don't wash away... Manowar's made of steel not clay."
Their old stuff was amazing too. No Turning Back is a total classic!
I disagree with you about the older stuff. The Mike Tirelli era is my favorite.
Definitely disagree about their earlier stuff, they had a lot of great stuff early on.
This channel is a work of art! The passion put in the vídeos, a ton of information about the bands and great album by album review! And let me say, Jack is a True metal warrior, the guy evolved on every record he wrote! Amazing musician! Ah and before i forget, Metal School is the BEST heavy metal channel nowadays, hands down!
Big Love and respect from Brazil!
❤️🤘🏻
Cool video, I hadn't heard about these guys. Some solid rocking!
Great choice for a Metal School video! Hails to Metal School! Best metal education on UA-cam!
Thank you for doing this band! This band deserves way more recognition than they get. I love all their albums, but No Turning Back, Land Of The Dead, and Souls Of The Innocent are my favorites. I also love the huge connection to the band Riot which I also love big time. Jack Starr is very underrated guitar player, and he has had many amazing lead singers. Jack Starr's Burning Starr is some of the greatest traditional Heavy Metal ever in my opinion. Excellent episode as usual!
Thanks John , myself and all of us in Burning Starr really appreciate your support and yes I agree Metal School has once again come up with another great episode
This is so good I had to watch it again. Although they always had great songs and videos, as some described in detail here. I especially love how Burning Starr has become so much better over the years, and looking forward to what the Maestro Jack Starr has instore for the near future!
I bought Out Of The Darkness when it first came out. My local Boston college station was playing it. Didn't follow him much after that. I think I've got some discs to order!
nice Work Brother. Like the Last three Ones! Good Power Metal Albums!
thanks strathammering PS good name I like to hammer on my strat too
@@stratluvr haha, nice😅👍😉
As usual this is great. I was excited to see this alert. Thanks! 🤘🏻
No matter who plays it as long is they play it we will listen 👂 and like 🗿🎸🙂🥁🇺🇲😎🎶
Totallt dig those Charvel and ESP powerstrats.
Totally
So many that were true to the art or not recognized but we the fans remember naked goals on from the next kids they keep us in check always. 🤫🎸👍✨
Once again you do not disappoint. 🤘😎🤘
The guitar playing by Jack is consistently excellent.
Amazing! Had one JS's album on casette and also by Rhett Forrester 🤘 Great metal class 🤘🤘
Kool ,never heard of them, was a kid of the 80s metal though, live in the Bible belt of the south so a lot of metal never reached us..
Love old school and bringing back true metal
Jack teve só músicos excelentes acompanhando ele, até os dias de hoje… Rhett (RIP), Carl, Mike Tirelli, Rhino, etc
Muchos Gracias
loves this band
He is such a great guitar player. More people should know his name……great video as always
thanks Matthew ,appreciate your kind words
Matal school and I found the hills have eyes and poked them out.
Still waiting for X Japan but this will do in the meantime ❤👌
Legends!!!
Another great job. I still have No Turning Back on vinyl. I was a Z-Rock kid back in the day. Still have my Z-Rock T-shirt too. ; )
Z Rock was an amazing station and dj's like Mad Max Hammer gave Burning Starr a lot of play
I'm a old school metalhead from back in day, still love metal. You have a great channel...much appreciated \m/!
I really dig your channel. I learn about bands that i never heard of. was a 80's metal dj in college and never heard of these guys. Thanks. Your the best. Keep it up
Another excellent vid! Can you do one about Chastain?? They are another lesser known band that kicks major ass :)
Wow. You surprised me yet again, bro. As you can probably imagine my list has been extended yet again… but you probably are tired of my constant requests by now😉
Haha, never! 🤘🏻
@@MetalSchoolChannel Here’s a game for you - guess which one of the below bands isn’t Swedish:
Mindless Sinner
Bathory
Artillery
Torch
Silver Mountain
Pretty Maids
Syron Vanes
Count Raven
Mayhem
Axewitch
Entombed
@@dragonqueen6589 haha, I mean it would be a total guess. Hmm, let’s say Count Raven. You sure love your Swedish metal bands 😄 Not that I don’t agree. But there are a few on there that I’m not familiar with and the ones I do know, I’m pretty sure are Swedish
@@MetalSchoolChannel No, Mayhem are Norwegian black metal, Artillery and Pretty Maids are Danish.
Silver mountain had the younger brother of long time Yngwie drummer Anders Johansson on keyboard.
There are a couple more… but they were either 90s or 2000s - 2010s.
The non-Scandanavian side includes Malice, Aggressor, Talon, Obssession, Liege Lord, Pretty boy Floyd and Trouble.
Hey you should totally do the Canadian big 4 (Annihilator, Razor, Sacrifice and Voivod) as their own mini-Series, that would be pretty cool😂
Awesome work as always, man you're the best, i love these videos! Thanks for making us discover those hidden parts of rock and metal history! A SWORD episode would be awesome. Cheers!🤘
A New Sword album will be release soon
Man this man can really play
thanks Ruben , appreciate the kind words
Not to be demeaning but you know what I'm talkin about rock and roll will never die 🎲
I love you did one or Raven.
Do one on Badlands. 😀👍🤘🎸
I think Girlschool really would fit well for your next video, they are quiet influential to be the first successful all female metal band, yet still they’re quiet unknown for many metal listeners. Cheers and thanks for top content!🍻☠️🤘🏻
So would The Runaways , Rock Goddess, Phantom Blue, Dangerous Toys & Jackyl
@@KiraReminiec9399 😄👍
You should do kreator or venom
Why? Those bands are metal mainstream and everyone knows about them.
@@FearCruser No not really mainstream also no one talks about kreators history nor venom I would love to see those bands talked about and I would like to see some extreme metal to talked about
@@matthewelias4868 Kreator are commies now...nein danke
@@metalurgov4943 whattt
I’d also like to see venom!.
I'm only familiar with Jack Starr when his band was part of the Magic Circle Music roster. Like to see if he was ever good, as well as Virgin Steele. I like some good heavy metal goodness.
Love this documentary…awesome job!! How about grave digger or scanner???? Time to explore those bands
Dokken vid next?
So our homework basically is to just listen to every album. hahaha
I would absolutely love to see a video from you about Accept!
Good to see Zach teamed up with a legendary guitarist I had no idea he did anything after Savatage and great band that i missed even though i heard of them great vid now do Nasty Savage!!!
Ah, another discography to hunt down!
Badlands did a cover of James Taylor Fire and Rain too!
Thanks buddy. Love your episodes ! Please do the band WHITECROSS! God bless buddy and savior JESUS keep you safe always!
Another exhaustive effort, well done sir. Would love to see one of these for Metal Church, but I'd settle for Lion or even Masi!
Yes,yes,yes to MASI!!!
Awesome. ... ......
I rocked that No Turning Back album back in the day. Seems to me it had a different cover, though
In 1985 DEVIL CHILDE recorded a wild album.
I’m sure Jack was the guitarist.
he surely was !!!
Im so happy your channel exists! Its like Encyclopaedia Metallum got a youtube channel! Keep up the great work mate! (Would love to see some 80s Japanese bands sometime)
