Today I cover the 29mm Texas Power Bar and give my thoughts after using it recently. If you have any questions for me, feel free to leave a comment below!
Yea when you said that you put the video out to force their hand in a way, I was not overly optimistic that it would happen. I am very glad it did, though.
Phillip, how would you compare the TBP 29mm to the Rep Deep Knurl EX? Is it worth the swap other than for nostalgic/historic reason? Also, it's good to see a fellow Rhodes alumnus (class of '95). Much appreciated!
Go Lynx! Honestly I would say no in that scenario. I have had both the Rep Deep Knurl and the 29mm TPB for a while now, and I could not justify switching them out due to the TPB offering a substantially different experience. Both are stiff power bars with similarly sharp, aggressive knurling. The TPB is just such a cool bar to own though, and it performs well also. Thanks for checking in!
@@doctabustacruz I would personally, but I have no experience with the Rep bar. So take that with a grain of salt. I have a Rep Deep Knurl EX from their earlier power bar line and like it a lot though, so I am definitely a friend of Rep.
Ok so I would say it depends on what you are used to using. If you are used to very passive knurling up to relatively passive knurling and are deadlifting less than 600lb or so, I would lean towards OPB. It is more grippy than sharp, and it is going to have a more aggressive feel than a random gym bar. If you are used to a substantial knurling and are looking for something that you will be able to hold onto the best, I would lean TPB. It is sharper while the OPB is grippy. I still do not find my cerakote TPB to be painfully sharp when doing anything besides heavy deads with hook grip. I hope that helps with perspective.
Glad you dig it. Think the community response exceeded even TPBs expectations

Thank you for your time man, appreciate it. Helped me out with a decision.
Good deal bro. Glad to hear it, and thanks for watching.
Very good review, BGB!
Thanks HGHR!
Nice power barbell, I'm hoping to get my order in this weekend, again great review
Thanks man! Which one you settle on?
@@babygiantbarbell1014 I gotta go with the black zinc and chrome sleeves
@@928guy that is a good looking bar

Love this bar
I have really enjoyed mine
It's a damn good bar IMO and glad you like it!
I love it man! It is the only power bar I use at this point.
Also like how they make the cerakote bar end caps the same color as the bar shaft
Same. It is a very nice touch.
Great review on what seems to be a great bar 👏 I know you've been putting it to good use.
Thanks bro. I have been rocking it exclusively for a minute now
Did I see that you bought one, and it arrived rusted? And trxas power bar wouldn't make it right?
@@MrPanthers23 They reached out later and made it right.
Love the thumbail
It looks ok 😏
Great review!
Thanks Brian!
What are your thoughts on an all chrome texas power bar 29mm for just $289 total shipped?
@@doctabustacruz I would take that deal personally
@@babygiantbarbell1014 over an all stainless rep double black diamond power bar for around $400?

@@babygiantbarbell1014 im only hessitant on the all chrome vs stainless since i workout in my garage that has no AC
My high school field house had texas bars. Id go other places and wonder why theirs were wierd lol. Looks like an updated nostaliga trip.
That is exactly it. It is that historic Texas power bar style but updated to the specs of a modern power bar. I love it.
Dyang, that's a legendary bb
It really is
I'm thinking about the Ohio vs TPB 29, is the knurl too aggressive on the TPB? Does it rip up you hands, back, etc? Thanks.

I just got my bad, used it on bench today and man it made everything feel super heavy. Is it just me or did it feel the same to anyone else?
Hmm that is interesting. I have not had that experience personally
Not sure if just me but audio kinda low on this one. Otherwise great review!
My bad homie. I am not what you would call a tech wiz.
