How can someone so talented not be famous?

    • @timj9775
      @timj9775 6 років тому +32

The difficult questions/content his work wrestles with aren't digestible to a wide mainstream audience. His work flirts with the esoteric and the ambiguous. This guy could probably be famous if he wanted to, but he's probably doing it for more than the fame or money (I honestly don't know him or his work well enough)... sometimes the best way to live is in the middle, between popularity and anonymity.

I dunno, maybe his goal here isn't to be famous. He's achieving exactly what he wanted to- to write, express, make music and have it appreciated. Thank you Deca xxxxxxxxxxxx

I subscribe to this idea. I think deca believes he doesn’t need the fame. I won’t claim to know exactly but it’s possible he even thinks that fame is ugly and evil in its own way. I think he truly avoids it. This creating a new aspect of what makes his art so f***ing beautiful!!

@Grizz420twofourseven I met him at a festival a few months ago! When I asked him for advice about writing songs he said " let it be what it is, a cathartic process for you first and foremost."

So in love with Deca rn, probably one of the greatest Hip-Hop artists of his time. Popular Hip-Hop (or Pop-Hop as I'd call it) has little variation in the songs themselves, their lyrical themes are repetitive and over used as well as promoting violence, drug usage and the Hood life. Deca on the other hand is very distinct in both his song writing and rapping.

It is a trip that I just found this dude though.. he is so God damn good.. I can't think of another rap artist who spits such understandable and poinent lines. It's all laid out in plain English, I can understand most of his tracks on the first listen. On the other side of the spectrum would be Assop Rock, on the 30th listen I still am only teasing a thread out of the shit he weaves. But I love them both in the same way.. its weird

Just discovered rapp jazz from a comment under kendricks ”i feel something” leak. I feel so intrigued by this genre, it’s so deep and conscious while also being playful and sometimes lighthearted. It kinda projects the place these artist are coming from, about where they are on their journey and how they somehow found a good place to be in themselves and then to be able to express it so beautifully. Very graceful genre. It’s a shame that I am so exposed to petty voices and agendas in our internet culture that I kinda get dragged down by it when in my soul actually want to move to a “higher” place. I don’t know what higher place means exactly, but I'm thinking lighter on the karma, more consciousness and wisdom, lightheartedness, groundedness, balance and harmony type shi.
    Ps. love yourz
Yeah I left J cole reference in their because he set an example. He choose his soul over the entire world telling him to stoop low, everyone expected him to, hell people even got mad that he didn’t. But he real af for that.

    [Vocal Sample]
Things are far more serious then I suspect you've been told
    People are dying up here
    And that isn't the end
Well how did all this happen?
We have been completely cut off from Earth
    Any chance of restoring contact?
Very little sir, We've lost all direct communication
    [Verse 1]
I gave em two 16's in a lucid dream
With the muses playing theme music on a super string
Watch me do my thing when the hypodermic stings
I could intervene by turning Mr. Hyde to Mr. Clean
From lean mean dope sick fiend to pristine
Stick to piff and nicotine, quit menacing the scene get medicine from clinics
Say your penance when its finished then its Venice in a vintage rented tinted limousine
Big things, big screens with big brother's ugly mug
Selling us a pyramid scheme like a f**ing drug
And love died with the troubadours, now its all ego driven
We're fetal position with the needle dripping
A foul ecosystem, keep on living, be persistent
In a prison where heaven and hell are equidistant
Give em 2 sets Marie Antoinette necks
Stakes is High's in the ca**ette deck take it back
    [Chorus]
Everything's sunny, everything's lovely, put me on a pedestal, hold no one above me
Everything's pleasant and good, eating breadcrumbs like the little peasant that could
Fuel for the furnace combust, learn to adjust, you view the world on the surface with a certain disgust
But everything's sunny everything's lovely, put me on a pedestal, hold no one above me
    [Verse 2]
Catch a stone cast at your dome by a
Self righteous sinner that would send Gestapo to tap your phone
I got the blues, got a lot to lose, got the news so-and-so past
Check the database for slideshows and photographs
You grow detached from your chosen path lose control and crash on a overpa**
Motionless focused inward, with loved ones
Howling like a thousand Ginsberg's with pinched nerves
Robert Johnson gave me his guitar pick
I can play super strings and rap about my hardships
You could lie through your teeth and spoon feed em arsenic
Who could stoop the lowest who could fall the farthest
It began when we took an apple off a tree limb, sweet sin
    Sustenance to sink teeth in
Took a risk and got 86'd for high treason
The pivotal moment simple components defy reason
    [Chorus]
Everything's sunny, everything's lovely, put me on a pedestal, hold no one above me
Everything's pleasant and good, eating breadcrumbs like the little peasant that could
    [Vocal Sample]
    Starvation, humiliation, despair, frustration
    Every god damn thing
For all your ills I give
    You laughter
