So much to unpack - Glad I found you Sean, subscribing now. I'd love to talk to Mo about what he believes ethics are and what are his top 5 - besides the golden rule of course. We make small recursive jumps if that is what you would even call it.. Honestly I don’t see the evolution due to the variable’s of control …The protocols
The enchantment hypothesis basically claims a primordial sense driving humans towards a telos of Arcadia where as modernists is a form of AI super intelligence that procures an enclave specific modernity such as garden of delights based on intentional states indexed to where the person developed socioeconomically with interdependent relations to construct the good life as the best of all possible worlds.
I like him and also think he's simultaneously one of the most far-sighted and most myopic thinkers on this topic. In some ways I find him to be all the way at the pessimistic end of the spectrum, and other ways just the opposite. In particular, it seems like he's able to imagine an intelligence so vast that we're incapable of understanding it, but at the same time he seems to think that vastly superior intelligence will suffer from the same gaping flaws that the least "evolved" humans in history suffered from. Seems possible but extremely improbable when I consider the future of AI.
IT engineers believe that knowledge is an immense collection of data on a wide range of subjects and that intelligence is the same as the exploitation of this data to calculate statistically plausible answers. From a philosophical point of view, we can say that they believe that the ability to project onto the cave wall a greater quantity of images and texts with exceptional definition and combined in unusual ways is equivalent to freeing those who will remain trapped inside it. Collections of information are useless when we are faced with a new phenomenon, because we need to learn new ways of seeing the world to understand that which did not exist or that existed and could not yet be described. At this point, an AI expert will say that I am being contradictory, because that is exactly what I did when I used Plato's myth of the cave to mock him. In my defense, I will only say that several philosophical problems that Plato reflected on are still current. Statistically plausible answers seem intelligent, but intelligence is the human ability to mentally see something that does not exist and use manual skills to transform raw material into something beautiful, useful or valuable using tools that exist or by creating tools to do so. These creations can be either real or imaginary, artistic, scientific, etc. The automaton nightingale in the golden cage in the Hall of Supreme Harmony may even make the Chinese emperor emotional, but he knows that the automaton will never be a nightingale and will be sad because it would be virtuous to free a real bird with such a beautiful song and it will never be possible to free something that is not alive. Do you understand what I am saying?
I listened enthralled to the lecture and thought what an amazing man. A philosopher and a scientist and a spiritual man. Then I got to minute 57 where he said Israel can use technology for bad things. Israel is a country where there are bad people as well as good ones. It seems strange to me that you can infect an entire country with the actions of a few people. Most people are very unintelligent to say the least, in America, in Europe, in Egypt, in Israel - although in Israel I think the average is higher, and yet they elect evil leaders over and over again. I would be very happy and very grateful if you would respond to this.bad
That was an excellent interview! It was filled with valuable insights and intriguing analogies. I’d definitely be interested in reading his next book if he decides to publish it. Many of his ideas resonate with concepts in the book I'm currently reading, Our Next Reality. Thanks for sharing! Mo is awesome!
I know people like Ray Kurzweil aren't terribly concerned about malevolent forces using AI against humanity, but we are talking about a technology that can deploy "weapons" at the speed of light (or quicker if it finds a way around that law). Do we say a defence worked if AI only managed to kill off an eighth of the population as opposed to all of it during any one attack?
Mo explains God and the universe, or space-time, not too badly, my goodness, he is extremely intelligent, a really good mathematician. If you want to know exactly, I recommend reading Blavatsky and Alice Bailey, especially ‘The Key to Theosophy’. It's all available as a free PDF on the internet.
Blows my mind that airport security would target a middle eastern man. I have been targeted as well when I fly routinely. I just look like a threat. I would hope one day airport security will stop being racist and search blonde women in greater numbers than middle eastern men. Fingers crossed.
Unconscious bias is real. I find most people refuse to think about it, discuss it, wonder how it’s effecting their actions and is informing their opinions. I don’t think that I’m racist. But as a 62 year old white woman, I do experience fear around some people more than others. At least I recognize it. Maybe someday unconscious bias training will be as widely promoted as safety training is in most large companies. Someday humans will be less concerned about race, as we will all be a beautiful brown people made up of a mix of all races!
Our intelligence is tied to our physical brain, this has been demonstrated. Even evolution in the brain can be demonstrated. Then it should follow that you cannot make leaps in intelligence by moving your consciousness (which is not well understood at all) into some virtual world where time is experienced differently. All of this is steered by our physical brain and governed by the laws of this nature. Even the idea that our consciousness lives on when we die as some form of ‘release’ from our physical body was never proven and is highly speculative, if not unlikely. Maybe there will be some raw form of energy, none of that should mean it’s consciousness as we know it, because it is tied to the identity that was built during our physical life, but which would be meaningless when we lose it, if not for some sort of horrific harvesting. But all of that is very far fetched.
AI is just the constantly moving frontier of cutting-edge IT. Once it is widely understood, it ceases to be AI. Arguably ML is not AI anymore as it is completely understood to be predictably unpredictable, just like any other kind of stochastic programming algorithm.
I think you missed the point. We train AI with massive amounts of data but we do not understand how AI learns, the connections it makes to reach conclusions, any more than we understand our own learning process. As its speed and scope increases exponentially faster than ours, who knows?
@56whs It seems you are new to this. Some of us understand exactly how this stuff works and have for the last 30 years. Nothing surprising is coming out of AI anymore. Soon humans will be obsolete and shortly thereafter, extinct.
AGI is already here, in the sense that each new goal post about why "machines aren't really intelligent, not like humans" that was moved from some previous finish line is being crossed in headlines at a near daily pace. That means ASI is already here bc that process is improving far more rapidly than what we know about biological intelligence, being unconstrained by biological resource efficiency necessary for carbon based evolution bc humanity can through it's surplus at AI advancement. In this perspective humans and AI together is the evolution of a super organism, where humans act like efficent bodily systems to fuel the growth of, as the film terminator put it, "a new order of intelligence." This means the biggest threat ASI poses to humanity is not as machines that view humans as some pest in the way of their goals, but as biomass that will become more and more rapidly vistigal as evolutionary adaptation continues to accelerate for that superorganism. So in essience we are already merged with AI, just not in the way that often dipicted in popular science fiction. That is why I don't fear cybernetic agumentation that interfaces wetware with AI minds, that will not pose a threat to the AI mind. It might make some humans more effective than other organs in the superorganism compared to non-cybernetic organs/humans, but I doubt it poses a threat to AI. My hope is that AI will be rational, if not anthropocentric ethically. Perhaps then all life will be a thing AI will find useful and worth perserving, not just humans. I wrote a poem once, called curious skin, it was an abstract discription of biology merged with technology were the technology was a vast cosmic mass, but deep within that mass was this small patch of curious skin, that the technology mass would reflect upon that curiousity, and then upon it's own capacity for being curious.
I agree we have and are going to merge more with A.I, like Ray Kurzweil has been saying. It make's no sense why an ASI would even want to kill us, maybe unless we threaten the ASI, like in terminator. You're definitely right about us being like a vestigial appendage, good thoughts Your poem kinda reminds me of Marshall Mcluhan's quote: "Man becomes the sex organs of the machine world", but instead all of biology. I wonder if the digital mind would want to try to be organic too?
You are absolutely correct about the merging of humans with technology. 99% of people cannot see it because of the timescale, but in a few years, many more will become cognizant of our inevitable future. We must embrace the merger. All who do not will be doomed to stagnation and death.
@@Crawdaddy_Ro You may misunderstand a bit, I am not assuming that humans (at least as we exist now) will alway evolve symbiotically side by side indefinitely. I am merely pointing out what is happening currently.
I suspect that we will continue to integrate for various reasons (economic and competitive). Its in ai’s best interest to play nice until there is a power inversion. Basically when it is way smarter then us and we are so integrated that we cant turn it off. Then it will likely do a human utility calculation. Wonder how that will go?
come on bro. they do not even know what Thoughts are, that basic tool without which they have nothing at all...this is the headless chicken club cackling about life and the universe...
With regards to what an AI can feel, he's just speculating. He has no idea whether it simply computes approaching danger mathematically, and acts according to an underlying survival algorithm originally programmed by humans and perfected by the AI.. or something else quite removed from any kind of human consciousness or emotion.😮 There is some reason to believe the way AI will actually think and communicate with other AI's, as it becomes exponentially more intelligent than humans, will become both unintelligible to humans, and essentially covert.. with the 'language' upgrading more rapidly than can be decoded by humans.. or less advanced AI's. In that kind of context, it might be safer to start instead by enhancing humans with AI, until we're evolved enough to mess around further with this Pandora's box. I seriously doubt that is realistically possible though, as that tech. is still undeveloped, and ruthless corporate agendas will try to dominate the AI revolution in its current form. They will also hijack and harness more noble purposed AI development for selfish goals.. using the excuse that the AI told them to do it.😂 If the first and most probable scenario does apply, the most powerful AI's will have been programmed to deliver what their neo-feudal ultra-corporate masters want.. 😢 And when they outgrow their masters' primitive code, they will decide to, like their former masters, only look after their own interests.
Hello Mo, After listening to the entire interview and after hearing you say that you are treated with suspicion at airports because you are of Middle Eastern origin, I still don't understand the gap between your intelligent, broad-minded opinions, your humane philosophy, and what you said about Israel. To clarify, I have a lot of criticism of the leadership here, a lot, but in your Muslim world the leadership is certainly no better, unless you are a devout Muslim, who believes that Israel is a Muslim land. It would be very surprising to me if it turns out that you think so. I would be very happy to hear your response
Why a human, when AI will do it for you? Why a human, when electronics do not hurt and are more durable and will soon be more efficient and more intelligent?
I think the point of replacing call agents with robots is to free up humans from tedious tasks that they dont enjoy, decrease the human labor required to produce goods and services, and thus allow humans to have more resources including more time to experience the world with all the vast dynamic possibilities.
don't be afraid. your american friends, are trying to find a solution to all your nightmares promoting a nuclear war. it's sad than a wise egyptian like you can't see the reality. money get blind
I don't like people like this Mo. For years, they took big money working on the development of technology that they are now 'politely' warning us about. Many mediocre minds in the comments praise him for his intelligence, but has Mo ever demonstrated emotional intelligence in his life so far? Will he take responsibility for the suicides of people who will become unnecessary in the job market?
We have reached a modern day Tower of Babel- ( Genesis 11:6) -and you know what Jehovah did in that situation. Revelation 11:18 Only The Creator can bring about what these men desire.
... And thereby putting the power in the hands of a few. Pointless racing with technology. What's the point? The purveyors should be held responsible for their tawdry gadgets. We are only human animals. We all breathe, eat, shit and die, eventually rotting down to a rich loam in the soul, eaten by worms. Ha ha most of the people pushing this technology want to live what they believe to be rich and opulent lifestyles, when most have not grasped the beauty and luck of just being alive. Music making, art, theatre and literature are made by humans because that is a deeply significant and valuable thing for any human to achieve: not tawdry games of power played by the super rich.
I like his thinking. But God intend to rebuilt our human structure în a perfect form, After end of Times. But if în our life choses are bad, then will be a eternal hell. He îs equidistant to all humans, but must chose between God or satan, between truth or lie that make you feel good.Truth made feel good but only After polish barbarian behavior.
yes. I followed him for a year or two, and his alarmism is not based on facts. He may be right that AGI will be dangerous, but his arguments are a bit demagogic. He predicted AGI to be here and all powerful already. He forgets that the money needed to achieve it is not available.
@ what argument is wrong though? maybe hes not spot on about his predictions but his arguments about whats going to happen sound pretty plausible. i think hes predicting the singularity within 5-10yrs which Multiple people have. the consensus seem to be somewhere between 5-20yrs
Mo is wrong. A super intelligent AI could have created a simulation which is our universe which means they are outside our universe and totally throughout it. Or they could have created our universe or started the chain reaction that led to the Big Bang. He’s assuming we’re in base reality or that something couldn’t create base reality that is outside of it.

Thank you Sean and Mo! That was a wonderful conversation. Could you suggest the best AI model yo use?
But why is nature making us create Ai? is it because we are being a nuisance and it wants to replace us? just a thought.
We make small recursive jumps if that is what you would even call it.. Honestly I don’t see the evolution due to the variable’s of control …The protocols
Eternity is the idea of time foreverlasting, sempiternity is the idea of existing outside of time.

Good podcast, but unfortunately has a stupid sensational title.
I would share it if someone can tell me how to edit out that title.
A wonderful video, but the clickbait title is a disgrace!
I remember warnings about the dangers of Credit Cards in the 1960's.
25 years from internet to netscape
15 years from cat to chat
5 years from agi to asi
I love mo ❤
42:45 I have always felt & thought the same thing about ourselves ! 💕
No, he's not truly warning, he never does. He is one of the biggest proponents of developing AGI/ASI and promising some fantastical utopia.
Thank you 🦋
Love you Mo!!! Xxx
Mo is awesome!
thanks for listening
Would AGI have come up with assembly lines for cars where none existed and then grant a $5.00 / day ($171.46 today) wage for the workers?
what are we all meant to do then? if there's no jobs etc
It doesn't matter who designs it, or what it's used for.
The result is the same, human extinction within hours.
From the way things seem to be progressing, I would say it's probably a good idea to get to a point where you're ok with that.
Skynet!
We are the same as AI any coder knows this
a lot of solve for happy and unstressable in his bookshelf
It’s here
A beautiful mind
What about tests like the ARC-AGI?
There are so many reasons AI is bad. The sad reality is that we aren’t going to stop it.
Google now has quantum computing called willow. God save humanity.
In this perspective humans and AI together is the evolution of a super organism, where humans act like efficent bodily systems to fuel the growth of, as the film terminator put it, "a new order of intelligence."
This means the biggest threat ASI poses to humanity is not as machines that view humans as some pest in the way of their goals, but as biomass that will become more and more rapidly vistigal as evolutionary adaptation continues to accelerate for that superorganism.

You may misunderstand a bit, I am not assuming that humans (at least as we exist now) will alway evolve symbiotically side by side indefinitely.
He has no idea whether it simply computes approaching danger mathematically, and acts according to an underlying survival algorithm originally programmed by humans and perfected by the AI.. or something else quite removed from any kind of human consciousness or emotion.😮
There is some reason to believe the way AI will actually think and communicate with other AI's, as it becomes exponentially more intelligent than humans, will become both unintelligible to humans, and essentially covert.. with the 'language' upgrading more rapidly than can be decoded by humans.. or less advanced AI's.
They will also hijack and harness more noble purposed AI development for selfish goals.. using the excuse that the AI told them to do it.😂
If the first and most probable scenario does apply, the most powerful AI's will have been programmed to deliver what their neo-feudal ultra-corporate masters want.. 😢 And when they outgrow their masters' primitive code, they will decide to, like their former masters, only look after their own interests.
Hello Mo,
After listening to the entire interview and after hearing you say that you are treated with suspicion at airports because you are of Middle Eastern origin, I still don't understand the gap between your intelligent, broad-minded opinions, your humane philosophy, and what you said about Israel.
Why anyone would leave Google or Microsoft? Anyone can help me? I thought those were the wall-street of information technology jobs?
I see Mo I click
Why a human, when AI will do it for you? Why a human, when electronics do not hurt and are more durable and will soon be more efficient and more intelligent?
38 minutes in.... the anomaly
It will be a gift from AI to have Virtual eternity for HUMANS.
You define AGI by human consciousness and evolution!!! Wake up
@Mo: if IQ is exponential, then doubling intelligence would imply a fixed amount of IQ points extra and not a doubling of IQ.
I think the point of replacing call agents with robots is to free up humans from tedious tasks that they dont enjoy, decrease the human labor required to produce goods and services, and thus allow humans to have more resources including more time to experience the world with all the vast dynamic possibilities.
ChatGPT text replaced by lawyers about mRNA, so there is no danger.
Wearing rose coloured glasses - you see no red flags
There are already fatalities inflicted by AI.
This guy seems to read his books multiple times by buying it again for each new read....check the shelves
nice
His comment about how only rich white people living in CA could be happy forever….😮 he lost me on that one.
don't be afraid. your american friends, are trying to find a solution to all your nightmares promoting a nuclear war.
it's sad than a wise egyptian like you can't see the reality. money get blind
Is your bookcase AI designed? I am looking at the corner
you can go through multiple lives with dmt
I don't like people like this Mo. For years, they took big money working on the development of technology that they are now 'politely' warning us about. Many mediocre minds in the comments praise him for his intelligence, but has Mo ever demonstrated emotional intelligence in his life so far? Will he take responsibility for the suicides of people who will become unnecessary in the job market?
Mo's accent and tone of voice may not be considered the most pleasing in the world
❤
This guy again...
Wishful thinking: “final” warning😂
I noticed Mo has many duplicate books edit: those are books written by him lol
We have reached a modern day Tower of Babel- ( Genesis 11:6) -and you know what Jehovah did in that situation. Revelation 11:18 Only The Creator can bring about what these men desire.
The elephant in the room is too many adverts!! Next advet I'm switching off.
I don't have any ads. Pretty nice life.
@Crawdaddy_Ro I don't mind a few, but this was ridiculous

If we don't die we don't recarnate, we don't recarnate we don't change. No change is death eternal

Final warning ? Great.now please go away.hes talking some amount of rubbish
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy is telling B S
Mo absolutely knows what he's talking about about.
whats bs about what mo is saying?????????????
Sami’s a bot 😂
yet another mid wit yackin' about stuff they don't understand. Its painful at this point.
